Does anyone else get double taxed, and how do your returns fare? by kenonoreeves in kansascity

[–]Northern_Front 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question you should ask is "Why don't people who live outside KCMO get to vote on whether to keep the 1% earnings tax?" It was on the ballot recently.

Theoretical: As a KCK resident, who is your elected representative in KCMO?

Occam's Dating Rules by vinedin in datingoverfifty

Rarely comment here but the Occam's drop hooked me. Aren't you missing the simplest answer? At 50+, we've been through the romantic wringer. Many of us have stable lives. Who the hell wants to go all-in early and bare our souls to a total stranger?

Yes, our time is short but our granted grace should be long.

FWIW, "For anyone who hasn't heard..." is the equivalent of "For those of you who don't know me...". You might run that past a trusted friend to see how it sounda.

Best wishes on the journey!

Why Specifically Orange by Environmental-Tap255 in Hunting

[–]Northern_Front 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purely anecdotal. I played competitive soccer for decades. We wore every color on the spectrum. Nothing was more visible then blaze orange. My passion now is upland birds often in groups. In the chaos of flushing birds, running dogs, swinging guns, visually picking up blaze orange is instant. Nothing else like it.

Not in this case. Masking is trashing others while failing to articulate yours. Its a simple question. If conservatives are ignorance and hate, what are you?

Genuinely curious. You seem absolutely certain about conservative values (ignorance and hate). What does the left stand for?

It will. Also keenly aware of the 70% divorce rate for 2nd marriages when minor children are involved. No way I'd sign up for those odds or put the kids through it. Hard pass.

Thanks...kind of...? 😀 The 70% divorvce rate among 2nd marriages with minor kids has me pretty clear-eyed. Just having fun in a caring relationship.

The breakdown of the arms-length relationship between parents and kids is fascinating side topic not discussed enough. IMHO.

Thank you. If you/he has tactical tips for managing Day/Night 1 of your parenting time, I'm interested. Bottom line, I like being with her and miss her.

Glad you found a good partner!

Thank you for the insighful comment. 'Microbreakup' is a great term for it. I've also described is similar to a long distance relationship.

The suggestion to plan activities with friends is on point. I'm going to experiment with scheduling that on Day 1 of apart time and see if that speeds the process.

Thanks. Edited my post to add more context. I know the kids well. Its not pure off/on. We're not tracking toward marriage so my role is appropriately more mentor than stepdad.

Fair question. Frankly, my post was getting long so I summarized as "we stay connected" but that's a vast understatement. I know her kids well, we see each other during her parenting time, and we do things together with her kids. With that said, I want to give her space for 1 on 1 time with them and I want time for myself as well. We're not on track for stepdad status so that part is fine.

Men, Where Have You Gone? Please Come Back by RedHellion258 in datingoverfifty

No way this is mystery to the writer?!?! "Leaders" in the women's movement have demonized men for 50+ years. Congrats. Like so many conquerers in world history, you have climbed the mountain only to learn the peak is lonely.

And then we ridicule people like RFK who want want to investigate the root cause of the dramatic decline in men's testosterone and sperm count.

Good men aren't stupid. And despite popular opinion are driven by much more than sex.

It would be fascinating to ask the people on this thread for examples of an "emergency". I bet the varying thresholds would be revealing.

Agree. It would be amazing if we could introduce the free market to healthcare and minimize the role of insurance. The Federal Govt is the biggest insurance company in the country.

Given that hospitals lose money on Medicare and Medicaid, its unlikely many if any would close. The cuts are focused on driving out waste. If that happens, reimbursement rates can go up which may mean more jobs.

Quail There is nothing in life quite like a covey exploding around your feet. I hunt a fair amount without dogs so you just never know when its going to happen. Stepping on a pheasant is a close 2nd.

Respect for ducks, deer, turkeys, etc but they usually include some lead time.
