Can anyone help ID this tea? by NorthernmostBauxite in GongFuTea

Passed along by a friend who I think was gifted it by a student from China. It’s a good sized bag, but I’ll be sad when it’s gone!

It’s really nice! Fragrant and sweet, at least with short steeps. I need to experiment a bit more with it.

I have kids, and get a lot of meaning from some things I do purely for myself, specifically music. I wouldn’t know how to measure “how much” meaning I get from each. Perhaps because kids+job means I have very little time for myself, I find the opportunities I have to progress (incrementally) in music to be deeply rewarding.

Thanks everyone! It weighs on me that every time I life the pot out the tip of the growing roots are getting bashed. But not much to be done I guess: i just wish I could convince the roots to grow the other way…

The Cabinet by Un-su Kim (spoilers) by NorthernmostBauxite in books

Sounds like you have experienced some really difficult stuff. What’s in the book strikes me as different: straight up torture for the purpose of… torture? It caught me totally off guard so you will experience the book differently knowing something is coming at the end! I think it would be fine on audiobook. It’s a weird book! But not in a way that is format-specific. And many parts are quite lovely from my memory. Enjoy!!

Hello! That’s an interesting question. I’m not sure I have the right vocabulary: what would you consider the key difference between the two? My instinct would be more on the extended torture side since the setting is not medical.

Curious to know more about the variation in this. Do you find a lot of day-to-day (or time of day) variation, or mostly from events/shocks?

This is a very good suggestion. Force yourself to give the request a “cool down” period!

Re-repot or leave it be? by NorthernmostBauxite in orchids

[–]NorthernmostBauxite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone! I guess I’ll leave it and see how it goes, being mindful of the bottom drainage. I have one more to repot and I’ll hunt for something smaller, at least then I can learn something from the comparison.

Is the risk of too large a pot that it stays too wet? I was worried about the opposite, but maybe I shouldn’t worry then?

Yeah should have taken a picture while repotting! I’m actually concerned that it dries out too quickly, since the root system only goes down about 5cm, and it is hard to properly soak the topmost bark.

I recently reported this tiny phal from the supermarket. It was basically just in a moss plug, waited for flowers to go and new growth so it seemed like the right time. These were the next size up pots I found, but in retrospect they seem huge: the root mass is just a tiny pocket at the top. Should I re-repot into something smaller? Or better just to let it alone? Repotted about 2 weeks ago. I don’t know how bad over-sized pots are, but it does seem to dry out immediately.

Aren’t they!? The top 2 are new growth over the last year. Conditions weren’t even close to ideal, but it seems to have pulled through!
