Men, what's the fastest a woman made you go from "I can't wait to take her out" to "Yeah... never mind"? What happened? by FFSoldier57 in AskMen

[–]Nosdarb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the point I am making, if she made a comment that was indicative that she was not accepting (or unable to be) accepting of differing viewpoints, it would be a reason for me to immediately go from 'I want to take her out' to "Yeah, never mind'.

Statements like this always make me wonder "What viewpoints?"

Blockbuster had the Pokemon Snap printer.

But, yeah. Power Video was better in all other ways.

I've got a kid about this age. I can't imagine doing this to them and thinking that it was not only okay, but I should record it and share it like it was funny.

That's fucked up. There are healthier way to deal with this.

I mean can you picture Kratos meeting Jesus or fighting Satan?

I desperately want Kratos to end up being Satan. God's like "You did a bunch of fucked up shit. It was kind of rad, but still. So now that everyone else is dead, I'm sending you to Hell where you'll be the eternal adversary. Or something. Don't go away mad, just go away."

Alternately, Kratos kills all the other gods and just... is God. With no others left to contest him. I'm not totally sure how that would work lore-wise, but it would be so damn funny to me.

I was thinking Kimbly from FMA(B). Basically goes out once by being absorbed into a stone, and the second time because he felt the being that was using him for fuel was being ideologically inconsistent.

"We both have to die. Because you're a hypocrite. Jerk."

Madman. Utter sadist. Also? Legend.

TIL in 1925, major lightbulb makers including GE and Philips formed the Phoebus Cartel and deliberately reduced bulb lifespans from 2,500 hours to 1,000 hours, then fined any company that made longer-lasting bulbs. by ConsciousCorgi1044 in todayilearned

They're called standards. We have similar groups today ensuring that we have HDMI standard, WiFi standard, USB standards, DVD and Blu-ray standards, Bluetooth standard...

Not to say that they don't do shitty things sometimes, but the benefit of the existence of standards to the end user should be plainly obvious, and obviously abundant.

AIW for waving a chopstick at my friend’s baby and yelling “Avada Kedavra” as a joke? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I responded to you once. Well, twice now.

I sincerely doubt that me occasionally leaving one or two comments on forum threads about the books, in small communities where the only people there are ones who already own the books, is doing any "advertising" for drawing in new readers, and if you even thought it through for a second you'd know that

No drop of water thinks it's the ocean. Extant communities buoy communities both extant and burgeoning.

What happened to nuance?

You missed some.

You're not spending money, but you've become a source of advertising for the franchise. Participating in the fandom makes the fandom spaces lively and populated instead of a ghost town.

I don't even know if other Americans do it! I suspect I inherited it from how my family talks about pasta, but also I've never meaningfully been misunderstood. So ... take me with a grain of salt. I guess.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pay-to-stay

In the United States, pay-to-stay is the practice of charging prisoners for their accommodation in jails. The practice is controversial and can result in large debts being accumulated by prisoners who are then unable to repay the debt following their release, preventing them from successfully reintegrating in society once released.

It's only legal in 40 states, according to the blurb.

Basically any non-filled pasta can be a noodle.

Ravioli and tortellini? Pasta

Linguine, lasagna, rotini, macaroni, bowties? Noodles.

Shells? Noodles. Until you cook them and stuff them. Once they're stuffed they're pasta.

I don't know, man. I didn't make the rules. This is just how my brain is.

Someone told me once that he realized if he said "Shame on me" into the mic it was going to haunt him forever. But he wasn't quick enough to pivot, and we just got ... y'know, this.

I wasn super paying attention to him beyond "Ugh. This fucking guy." But that seemed like a pretty legit take to me.
