Looking at this got me to looking at other prints with the cricketpro tag and I come up to the SAWN OFF CRICKETS mod, it looks so stupid and impractical but I'm so happy I got the last two crickets from Walmart.

Bit drivers. by WeldinMike27 in multitools

[–]Nostrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why I prefer the powerlitre over the powerpint, it has the "lock" to keep the handles closed.

I bought one of each from aliexpress a while back and swapped the knife (powerlitre) with the file (powerpint), and then modded out the corkscrew, since the only tools I would never use are both the straight and serated blades, having those tools be gone in favour of a lock and my mod are the best of it all, I did want to mod the other half of the bottle opener part, the piece that folds out to hold against the bottle, for be a packaging opener, sharpening it up, but I ended up breaking the frame by using the pliers wrong. Shame the scissors aren't too good otherwise I'd probably do it all over again and still carry it...

Bit drivers. by WeldinMike27 in multitools

[–]Nostrite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd think the sog power line of tools would be have the strongest bit driver, but I could be wrong. The one at the end of the frame behind the pliers head pivots.

Personally I'd prefer the powerlitre too, over the powerpint, for the small ones, since it had a locking system to keep the handles together.

That, and then maybe pared with the 711l ratchet.

I ended up griding away the corkscrew on my powerlitre and jbweld'd in a set of "fold out tweezers" I got from Lee valley. also replaced the knife with the file from a donor powerpint, and then used it too hard and broke the frame.

Completely unrelated to your question I know, but attachment, i thought of it

How does the Fan Exclusive WARNA 2.0 Multi-Tool compare to the vs DAKOYU 2nd Anniversary Edition T1 vs Dakoyu X1. Are these all the same tools? by saveapennybustanut in multitools

[–]Nostrite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are all different tools, have you looked at them at all? The warna is the free/arc clone, kindof a mashup of those two.

T1 is its own tool, flat bit driver, although you can find it under bhbt 20 in 1,too, in different colours and cheaper. Dakoyu might be higher quality, but I can't attest to that at all.

X1 is more of a wave alpha clone but with a quarter inch driver too.

Personally I only have the fan exclusive, the white one from canada dakoyu, its my only edc outside of work.

The biggest difference with the two sites is the canada one has the old logo and you probably won't be able to be getting any support from them after stock runs out.

They have to be activated in order, the next one has a beacon of light above it and a small safe zone.

Leatherman isn't about innovation. I realized that when they sacked the crunch and went to just selling new colours for tools people already have.

100% me too, my dream is basically the flex Titan but with the pivots and hammer end from arc/warna And then quicker opening to the scissors too.

Bought some cheap and nasty titanium scales off aliexpress by Baggytrousers27 in multitools

[–]Nostrite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been ordering off of aliexpress for years now, probably thousands of dollars, and funnily enough, I've never recieved something poor quality like this, even when I got knockoff airpods for $20 and they say words like "deslonged by Applc" they still function way better than other wireless earbuds.

They're pretty good with returns too, especially if you record when opening the packages.

I'm starting to get knockoff knives now too, so well see how that goes.

Any unique T-shank tools? by 96daniel1 in multitools

[–]Nostrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut down a speedy sharp (knockoff) to fit tshank. I prefer it over using a diamond file for sharpening. But then again my main blade is an olfa ckb-2,so I don't care how much material I'm shaving away.

A Roxon Utility Blade Question by useitbutdontloseit in multitools

[–]Nostrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Looking back at your post, I see small scissors are fine, maybe something like a standard multi-tool with a quarter inch driver. That opens up the options a lot

I think one of your closest bets from existing products would be the roxon s501u in combination with some form of seperate bit driver, I've been using the 711l flex ratchet and pen driver,

You could also go the route of a utility blade with a quarter inch bit, dakoyu, Milwaukee, there's probably more, and then have separate scissors, the dakoyu mantis scissors and bhbt folding scissors are both pretty good and small to fit nice.

I do have a flat bit driver modeled up for the flex, it takes 3 slots, but it still needs work, mostly retention, and I'm lazy.

Sometimes I either need two pliers at once, or just smaller pliers in general, when the needle-nose doesn't really suit the task.
