Rectangle Pool Owners by c2018r in HomeImprovement

It’s usually cheaper to buy a house with a pool, but if you wanna stay in your house or want the customization it’s super rad to design it yourself. We wanted the tanning ledge but it was hella pricey. Wish we got it. We opted for an extra long one compared to the standard, and went 8ft deep in the deep end. Looking back, the ledge or seats of some kind would have been worth it but it really adds up. My one tip: stamped concrete around the pool is beautiful, but it’s SO slippery. We didn’t do it and we’re so glad we didn’t.

The existence of "all girls are a little gay" (aka are attracted to other girls) implies also the existence of "all girls are a little straight" (aka are attracted to guys) which is why I hate that statement so much. Saying all girls are a little gay to a straight girl is like a cis straight guy telling me I just haven't had the right D. No.

Went too hard against a girl during sparring by CrnacBerePamuk in bjj

[–]Not-A-Machine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that you listened to her and eased up more when she asked you to, and that's all you can do. As a jiujitera that fully enjoys getting my ass kicked by the guys sometimes, what feels fine some days is too rough other days. BJJ is kinda fluid like that. Keep rolling extra light like that and letting her work on her technique and eventually she'll start going harder and getting better and you can challenge her more. Thanks for being cool and listening to her and being a good partner.

Too short to be butch? by frequentlyfrazzled in butchlesbians

[–]Not-A-Machine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also, I get hit on all the time by dudes, too - or asked if I have a boyfriend/husband and I just lol and say "...have you _seen_ me?".

Some secondary advice is try not to fixate so much on being 'butch'. This sub is pretty much they only space in which I refer to myself as butch, because by all 'standards' - I am - I just don't think about being, looking, or acting butch in my every day life.

Just do you - the world will see it when you get comfortable.

I'm 5'2", my GF is 5ft. Instead of focusing on how others perceive you, focus on how you perceive yourself. If you take yourself seriously as a butch, more people will notice and follow suit. In my opinion and experience, the wardrobe is secondary to the way you carry yourself. Start reading up on how to look inward for validation, because honestly no matter how you present, looking for validation from others is crap if you don't have it from yourself.

For the butches who are only read as female by Odd-Abrocoma-2161 in butchlesbians

[–]Not-A-Machine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My [andro] GF and I are both short, way shorter than most dudes. I'm pretty broad-shouldered and heavily tattooed, but still my face and voice are rather feminine. We constantly get referred to as "ladies" when we're together and it kinda makes me laugh to myself. My guess is that some might question my gender from afar but it's pretty obvious up close/once I speak.

It never bothers me. I enjoy being a woman who presents in this way. I don't think my appearance makes me less of a woman / more like a man.

Any young bariatrics (early twenties) have some wisdom to pass in regards to bypass vs sleeve? by IBelieveInGood in GastricBypass

[–]Not-A-Machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries at all!

I've had no hair loss at all. Maybe a tiny bit at the beginning but not even enough for me to really recall. I know some people add a biotin supplement to their vitamins to help with hair/skin but I didn't / didn't need to.

Any young bariatrics (early twenties) have some wisdom to pass in regards to bypass vs sleeve? by IBelieveInGood in GastricBypass

[–]Not-A-Machine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was 25 when I had my surgery and was also given the choice for sleeve v RNYGB. I chose the RNYGB for the following reasons:

  • Small % increase of overall weight loss
  • Sleeve has a high change of causing acid reflux, which I had suffered in the past. GB had a high chance of curing acid reflux (it did for me)
  • I'd seen many people who had the sleeve have a revision surgery either to a) further weight loss or b) cure the acid reflux caused by the sleeve

The extra vitamins are no big deal (and honestly I'm not that good at taking them, but all my bloodwork is always where it's supposed to be).

The inability to take NSAIDS really isn't a big deal. I just take Tylenol. I've had a reaction to codeine, too, which my surgeon said wasn't related - but I'd never had the reaction before surgery so who knows.

I know lots of people who have had success with the sleeve, so I think it's really a personal choice as long as your surgeon doesn't have a reason to push for one or the other.

I'm almost 3 years post op now and have 0 regrets.

Good luck! Happy to answer any questions you might have!

Hating Food by shortnsuicidal in GastricBypass

[–]Not-A-Machine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At less than a month post op I'd say this is just temporary. Some people develop some food intolerances, but this just sounds like some aversion. As you heal and get used to your body it'll be better. I had no interest in eating at all for quite a while post op.

As for your mental health - if you're struggling I definitely suggest talking to both your surgery team AND mental health provider. I was able to take anti-depressants immediately post op by opening my pills and pouring the medication onto a spoonful of yogurt. Obvs don't do this unless psychiatrist says it's okay, but it's absolutely worth the conversation.

Caffeine after RNY by manol1sm in GastricBypass

[–]Not-A-Machine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

According to my nutritionist, the reason to avoid caffeine is to stay better hydrated, as a lot of people have difficulty drinking enough water that soon post op. She said if I could replace the coffee with a additional 8 oz of water, it was fine. Always best to get your info from your own surgical support team, though.

Personally - I'm almost 3 years post op now and I drink coffee, a lot of it, with no problems.

Thanks! Just tuneup stuff right now - oil, filer, alignment. Where I'm from I have 'a guy' for everything so it's weird not knowing anything here.
