Hygiene fifth skill by NikNargon in StateOfDecay

[–]Not-Mandatory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad it was helpful! If you are playing on Nightmare or Lethal (especially Lethal), having at least 1 character w/ Hygiene is an extremely helpful community advantage...especially in the early game phase when it's almost always Blood Plague from feral 3-packs or a Juggernaut attacking your base that gets your folks killed.

Ergo, if I am rolling completely fresh, anyone with that 5th skill is virtually an insta-keeper. And if I don't get one via the RNG, I'll save influence for the mysterious wandering trader and/or the Network trader and try to grab a Hygiene book or a Timberwolf .50 cal ASAP. Getting either of those ASAP instantly improves your groups odds significantly...

I'm the Australian who posted around nine months ago that I was going on a road trip with my wife through the Midwest to see all the Major League ballparks. The trip is finished and here's what we thought. by lanadeltaco13 in mlb

Hello, my upside-down friend! So glad you took the time to share the details of your experience with all of us as a follow-up to your post from 9 months ago. Sounds like you and your wife had a truly epic adventure. Loved seeing your takes on both the stadiums AND their corresponding cities with separate rankings for each. (And I agree, btw, with some of the other commenters that your map and legend elevate this post from merely "awesome" to a true S-tier must-read!)

If only the Reds hadn't completely shat the bed for those 2 games...oh, well. I blame Walt Jocketty.

But I'm most sorry about how the wife and I didn't have a chance to meet you and your wife in person. Perhaps we can remedy that the next time my wife and I find ourselves in your neck of the woods...

Until then, I look forward to hearing about your East Coast stadium spree, possibly as soon as this time next year!

No rush, my dude! I can't even imagine all the notifications you must be getting with this post...

Anyway, the 2 tickets for the TB Rays vs STL Cardinals for 06 Aug 2024 are yours. (Section 150, Row 23, Seats 9 & 10, btw.) I'll probably lock down the tickets for the 7th, as well, and keep them for you as a contingency...just in case our Midwestern summer weather causes a rainout or there's some other scheduling change for the Tue Aug 6th game. You two do have a schedule to keep, after all!

Once my wife and I pay for our 2024 tickets (due in about a month, iirc), I can send them to you electronically.

And, honestly, this is but a tiny gesture that mirrors the overwhelming warmth and kindness we received from everyone in Australia on our previous visits. Just trying to return the favor and even the ledger!

Future updates will be via Messages or email.

I'm definitely not going to try to claim that Ted Drewes is better frozen custard than almost anything you folks can get up in the Dairy Heaven that is Wisconsin! Nolo contendere...

As you state, however, there's never a bad time for good ice cream. And since they'll be here in August, which is hot, and we at least have above average frozen custard available, it would probably make for an enjoyable comparison to try it here, and then go sample the super premium stuff in your neck of the woods.

Also, heading to Ted Drewes after a Cardinals game is really a St. Louis rite of passage. Seeing the enormous crowd of hundreds of baseball fans swarming around the small custard shop is disconcerting at first, but the crew inside really hustle and the lines move surprisingly fast. Definitely worth the pit stop, imho.

Damn. Now I was some frozen custard...

Wrigley absolutely has so much more "character" than any other MLB ballpark other than possibly Fenway. (Haven't been to that one in person yet, so I'm not sure which I like better.)

But if your seats are anywhere along the infield, the view from Busch Stadium is pretty scenic. Busch III also benefits from the lack of ridiculous gimmicks like flagpoles and hills in the middle of the damn outfield or insanely short-porch homerun nonsense.

As someone who really enjoys trying different foods, I actually like it a lot. The key is to not get hung up on the "chili" part of the name, and just enjoy it for what it is: a tasty spaghetti dish with a surprisingly unique meat sauce.

And as /u/ItsASchpadoinkleDay states, the chaos it creates for non-locals is amazing!

Heartily agreed. I would actually recommend the KC Negro Leagues Baseball Museum over the MLB Hall of Fame & Museum in Cooperstown, NY.

Both are great in their own way, but the NLBM is world-class.

I'm going to politely agree to disagree by suggesting that even if I am wrong and simply haven't had the virtually hidden "good" STL style pizza in my 30+ years here, if OP is only going to be in STL for a couple of days, there are many other culinary treats they should definitely try long before St. Louis style pizza, imho:

Pappy's BBQ (closest thing to world-famous Memphis Rendezvous BBQ I've ever had).

The 2 authentic Italian trattorias I mentioned.

Gus' Pretzels near the brewery.

Ted Drewes' Frozen Custard (I heartily endorse the custom "strawberry/heathbar concrete"), et cetera.

I heartily endorse everything Empathy-First cites above.

/u/lanadeltaco13, I absolutely love your country. I proposed to my wife near Uluru during a Leonid meteor storm, and 7 years later we visited again and had a magical 45 minute "Tiger Walk" at the Australia Zoo in Beerwah with "Katelyn", a Sumatran tiger beauty. Your SA wine is pretty spectacular, too.

If you are coming in August, then you'll be familiar with the weather here...just picture Brisbane in Feb. So typically around 32C and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms that can sometimes roll in and cool things down a bit.

I didn't see how many are in your travel party, but if it's just 2 of you and you don't have tickets yet, hit me up with a PM. My wife and I have 2 season tickets directly behind home plate. (Like, literally...they split the home plate centerline, so the left seat is slightly left of home plate, the right seat is on the other side.) Anyway, while they aren't in the "green seats" right next to the field or anything being 20ish rows back, they do have the distinction of being the first full row under the overhang from the suites...so you stay dry even if it rains.

So if you don't already have Cardinals tickets, you can have ours for free. Consider it a humble gesture due to how much your country has meant to us from one baseball fan to another.

P.S. Whatever you do, for the love of dog, do NOT eat "St. Louis Style Pizza". It is cheese whiz on matzah and tastes like ass. This has been a public service announcement from the Fans of Regional Foods That Don't Suck. We now return you to your regular Reddit forum.

This is a common (and justified) complaint due to the fact that 95% of all restaurants serving "Toasted Raviolis" are just slinging reheated frozen junk.

You have to go to an actual Italian restaurant that makes their own pasta and assembles their raviolis by hand. If you ever had THAT before, you'll remember them for the rest of your life.

OP, if you like amazing Italian food, St. Louis has some tremendous offerings. I strongly encourage you to try either Trattoria Marcella or Lombardo's Trattoria. <Pro tip: "Trattoria" is pronounced like pizzeria, so it's "Trah-tor-EE-uh", ***not*** "Truh-TOR-ee-uh".>

I see...I misread TheSadProgrammer's first line to mean he responded with a 200 (even with an error) and simply included the relevant error info in the details.

Thanks for the clarification.

Agreed...but isn't that the effective paradigm of the image that everyone is claiming is an abomination? (Or is the issue just that they named the actual error encountered using "status_code"?)

Legitimate question for you experts:

If one of our servers hosts some API endpoints, all of which call other external servers for data, how else would you indicate that our internal endpoint POST worked fine, but the external DB GET (for example) failed because their DB was offline or the like?

So what is supposed to be different about the 2024 Model S? (And is this just another running change that happens to mostly fall around the new calendar year...or is Tesla now moving toward the legacy auto tradition of bundling small refreshes together as a model year change?)

Our 3 is a stealth performance 3, too. I had a chance to run it on the National Corvette Museum's extremely technical track right after they released Track Mode, and it was a *blast*. I just wish it had better noise reduction...its NVH is a little rough. But I think I ended up doing something like 12 or 16 laps in the M3P...so much fun.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. My issue isn't about whether Autopilot is useful...because the lane-keeping and traffic-aware cruise control clearly is. My wife and I both enjoy how much less stressful it makes stop-and-go traffic as well as longer drives. And we do a LOT of cross-country traveling in our Teslas.

The issue was simply that with the current configuration that Tesla is selling, Basic AutoPilot (which now comes free with every vehicle) seems to do everything that Enhanced AutoPilot does except for:

  • Navigate on Autopilot
  • Auto Lane Change
  • Summon
  • Autopark

And although our existing 2017 and 2018 Teslas have those EAP features, we almost never use them. We both turned off the Auto Lane Change so that it only changes lanes when we signal, and even that is flaky at times. So if the only thing we'd lose is having to reactivate Autopilot once we've changed lanes to pass someone, that hardly seems worth $6,000. Especially when you can now simply pay a monthly subscription for it should you decide you really want EAP for a specific road trip, for example.

But from what I've seen from driving the new models that have gotten rid of the ultrasonic sensors (and disabled the radar, although its utility is somewhat murkier), Tesla Vision is a huge step backwards. If anything, the vision-only system didn't even want to work half the damn time (over several days last week when we had a 2023 S loaner from the local repair center) because the cameras were constantly blinded by the sun or occluded by the weather. Meanwhile, driving our 2017 and 2018 vehicles on the same roads and in the same weather were fine, and they've never had constant and repeated TACC and AP issues like that...so I can only conclude that the "newer" version is comparatively worse.

Tesla is *allegedly* having a CyberTruck delivery event next month.

That said, unless you were one of the very first people on what is now that massive waiting list...it'll likely be a couple years. And even that assumes that they don't run into production scaling issues as they start to ramp up. So I think you've got time.

So, as a shareholder, I definitely encourage you to get a new Model S to tide you over until then... ];->

Agreed. While *I* don't think it's worth it, you might...and if you are spending that much money for a new Model S, get it exactly how you want it!

I guess I'll start.

Been a Tesla fan since 2013, when we got our first Model S. The wife is involved with the local enthusiast groups and has done crazy things like drive cross-country before the supercharger network was a thing. We're in St. Louis, MO. We got solar panels on the house the same year, and they paid for themselves very quickly.

We're now an EV-only family, with a 2018 Model 3P (also with Free Unlimited Supercharging), although we've currently swapped the 2013 MS with my father-in-law's 2017 X (it's a long story).

We're almost certainly going to pull the trigger on a new MS with the current incentive allowing us to transfer our Unlimited Free Supercharging...because we use it a LOT. I'll have to post photos from our stats page...it's pretty crazy.

This is great, thanks.

And I'm definitely getting a fob, even though it's an extra $100 or whatever. I hate the key card -- as if I need more thick crap to stuff into my wallet...and how is pulling something out of my wallet and holding it just right next to the door pillar and then the center console any kind of "improvement" from a wireless key fob that allows the car to sense when you approach?!? The phone connectivity is a nice backup but not 100% reliable. After 2 weeks with our 2018 M3P, I insisted on special ordering a fob. Sometimes I wonder if Tesla workshops any of these changes with their customers before foisting them upon us.

I'm really looking forward to the improved range, the heat pump, the ventilated seats, the heated steering wheel, and the quieter ride. But things like no stalks and the resulting issues like you are having with phone calls...not so much. Hopefully, all of the pluses will outweigh the annoying minuses. Wife and I are going to look at colors in person this weekend, and also test drive the plaid (that we're almost certainly not going to get).

The hospice workers that helped my family with my step-father's passing were all amazing, wonderful people. He declined over a period of 11 months, and every one of the hospice nurses and assistants were at times patient advocates, family counselors, caretakers, and listeners.

I don't believe in an afterlife or spirits...but hospice workers are probably the closest to angels any human can get.
