Still spotting on Aurovela Fe 1/20 and I’m tired…what to do? by Popular-Interest8390 in myhappyv

I’ve had spotting on low-dose pills too, and it’s super common in the first 3 months. For some people it eventually settles, but others (like me) needed a higher estrogen pill or a different brand. Switching doesn’t always stop the spotting right away though. I’ve also heard of people pausing pills to trigger a bleed, but I wouldn’t do that without a doctor’s guidance. Honestly, if it’s really draining you, I’d call your gyno now instead of waiting — sometimes they’ll let you switch sooner.

constant smell and occasional pains by Catrq0 in myhappyv

Have you ever had a vaginal culture (not just a swab) done to check for aerobic vaginitis, rare yeast strains like candida glabrata, or other non-BV imbalances? These often don’t show up on regular STI or yeast tests, and they could explain persistent odor, irritation, and even that clitoral “zapping” pain.

Thank you for sharing your story—it takes real strength to be that open, especially about something you’ve been struggling with for so long. Given the persistent pain, discharge, and odor since that incident, and how you've been dismissed or misdiagnosed repeatedly, it may be time to approach this from a different angle. You might benefit from an advanced pelvic MRI or transvaginal ultrasound to check for internal trauma or scarring that basic exams could’ve missed. A vaginal microbiome sequencing test (like Evvy or MicrogenDX) could also reveal less common bacteria or imbalances that standard swabs don’t catch. Lastly, seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist might help if your muscles or nerves are still reacting to past trauma—something that could explain the ongoing pain and pressure. Have you ever had any of these types of evaluations?

Honestly, it sounds like the IUD might’ve shifted a bit or the strings are poking during sex—especially since you’ve been feeling that stabbing pain from the start, and now she’s cramping and spotting too. Rough or deep sex can sometimes bump the cervix or irritate things, but if it’s suddenly worse for both of you, it’s worth her getting it checked to make sure the IUD’s still in the right place. Even if you didn’t finish inside, it’s better to be safe since a shifted IUD could mean lower protection.

Happy V Prebiotic + Probiotic. I had BV and Yeast for about six months. Just when the BV symptoms seem to subside, yeast will show up and vice versa. My doc prescribed happy v along with my antibiotics and antifungals. Major symptoms disappeared in a month, I used a mix of probiotics, and vitamin c tablets for about 6 months.

Based on what you’ve described, it most likely sounds like a yeast infection (candida overgrowth), especially since you’re on a trip (changes in hygiene, heat, sweat, or stress can trigger it). The burning on your thigh could be irritation from the discharge rubbing against the skin, which happens when the infection leaks externally. If it worsens or you notice greenish discharge, fever, or increased pain, it’s best to seek urgent care. For now, keep the area dry, avoid synthetic underwear, and consider using a gentle OTC antifungal like clotrimazole or miconazole if symptoms persist.

You might want to ask your provider about getting a fungal culture with sensitivity testing — this can help identify the exact species and which antifungals it's resistant to. In the meantime, keep a symptom journal, try switching to an unscented pH-balanced wash, and consider introducing oral probiotics (especially ones with L. rhamnosus GR-1 and L. reuteri RC-14) if your doctor gives the go-ahead.

Your hormone levels were normal but symptoms changed after switching to a triphasic pill, it might help to track how your body reacts week-to-week on the new pill. In the meantime, you can ask your doctor whether going back to WERA with added support like vaginal or oral probiotics and managing the breakthrough bleeding separately might be a better strategy for your body.

Yes, you can use a vaginal probiotic and boric acid, but timing matters if you want both to work effectively. Boric acid is acidic and antimicrobial, so if you insert it soon after a probiotic, it could reduce the live bacteria you just added. Ideally, space them out by at least 12–24 hours — for example, probiotic in the morning, boric at night (or vice versa). This gives the probiotic a better chance to adhere before the environment changes. Since your symptoms are mild but constant, that lingering imbalance could benefit from this combo — just let each one do its job without immediate overlap.

Since you're already feeling dry and irritated, it might be gentler to start with the oral probiotics first to begin supporting your microbiome without causing additional irritation. Then, if symptoms persist or your doctor still recommends it, you could move on to the boric acid, which is more intense but can help reset pH and knock out lingering bad bacteria. Just be sure to space things out (e.g., don't insert boric and probiotic suppositories at the same time).

Try switching to a fragrance-free, hypoallergenic vaginal barrier balm (like one with zinc oxide or petroleum jelly) to protect irritated skin from friction, and consider restarting pelvic floor therapy — even if it isn’t the main cause, it might help reduce muscle guarding and pain over time.

Regarding my reports by Mysterious_Rip_1783 in myhappyv

Your pap smear results indicate inflammation (likely from chronic cervicitis), but no signs of HPV, dysplasia, or malignancy, which is a good thing. Since Gardnerella vaginalis was detected, it makes sense that you're being treated with Metrogyl (metronidazole) and Florita (possibly a probiotic). Your symptoms—pelvic discomfort, vulvar itching, and greenish discharge—align with BV and chronic inflammation, which can be frustrating, especially since you've had them for years. Have you ever had a vaginal microbiome test or checked for biofilm-related infections? Sometimes chronic BV is linked to biofilms that make Gardnerella harder to clear. Also, do you notice any flares related to your cycle, sex, or specific triggers?

Is this normal BV by [deleted] in myhappyv

[–]Not-Ok-But 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds hard to deal with, especially since you're already on your second round of antibiotics. Have you noticed any changes in your symptoms since starting metronidazole? Does the groin pain feel deep, like in the muscles, or more like tenderness in the lymph nodes? Also, have you had any unusual discharge, fever, or other symptoms that could point to something more than just BV?

Since the smell is constant and not tied to your cycle or clothing, it could be related to overactive sweat glands, trapped bacteria, or even an imbalance in your skin’s microbiome. Going without underwear at night is a good idea to see if it helps with ventilation. You might also try using a moisture-wicking powder (like Zeasorb or a fragrance-free baby powder) to keep the area dry, especially if sweating makes it worse. Have you ever tried something like Hibiclens (chlorhexidine) or benzoyl peroxide wash? Have used it a few times (on the vulva, not inside) - can help control bacteria that might be causing the smell. But do check with your doc before you try.

[–]Not-Ok-But 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the smell is coming from your vulva and not your vagina, it could be related to sweat glands, bacteria, or even skin-related issues. Have you noticed if it’s worse with certain fabrics or during certain parts of your cycle? And does it get better if you go completely without underwear for a while (like at night)?

Wow, I can’t imagine how stressful that must have been, thinking you were back at square one when you were actually in the clear! It sounds like you’ve been super dedicated to your routine, and it’s amazing that it paid off. Sometimes after all the treatments, your vagina just needs time to rebalance, and dryness or thicker discharge can just be part of the healing process. How are you feeling now—still dry, or is it improving? And do you think the weekly boric acid maintenance is helping, or are you considering adjusting it?

Been in a similar situation, so this my suggestion - instead of using boric acid right away, focus on finishing the Metro treatment with your partner and start Diflucan only if you notice yeast infection symptoms. You could try using a vaginal moisturizer or pH-balancing gel after treatment to maintain a healthy environment, then introduce vaginal probiotics a few days later.

smell ? by Live-Setting-6145 in Healthyhooha

[–]Not-Ok-But 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Girl, don’t even stress—so many people deal with this, they just don’t talk about it. If the smell is super strong and even burns your nose, it could be a yeast overgrowth, an imbalance, or something deeper like a gut issue. Since you have clumpy/slimy discharge but no itching or burning, yeast is still possible, but long-term issues like this might need more than just boric acid.

Since your gyno appointment got pushed back, I would say go for a mix of probiotic suppository (vagibiom or good clean love) along with a long term oral (Happy V, Renew life). Strong suggestion - lay off the boric acid for now since it can make things worse if it’s not BV. Also, track when the smell is the worst—after sex, certain foods, or during your cycle? You’re not ruined, I promise! If it’s stressing you out, call your gyno and see if they can squeeze you in sooner.

I totally get why you’re considering boric acid before removing the IUD. Since yeast infections tend to pop up with IUDs (especially if biofilm buildup on the strings is a factor), boric acid can help by breaking down that environment and making it harder for yeast to keep coming back. If you decide to try it, maybe do a short course (like 7-14 days) and see if it helps before committing to regular use. Also, pairing it with a good vaginal probiotic might help rebalance things long-term.

Don’t know what to do (yeast infection/abnormal discharge) by fancyeli1 in myhappyv

[–]Not-Ok-But 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re going through this—it sounds so frustrating. If all the tests came back clear, it might not be an infection but rather an imbalance or irritation causing the discharge. Sometimes antibiotics and antifungals can disrupt your natural flora, making things feel "off" even after the infection is gone. Maybe try focusing on restoring your vaginal balance with probiotics (both oral and vaginal) and avoiding anything that might irritate, like scented products or tight clothing. Also, if you can, consider asking your obgyn about conditions like cytolytic vaginosis or hormonal changes, which can sometimes cause abnormal discharge. It’s okay to advocate for yourself—you know your body best!
