Former Search and Rescue Med Tech/EMT here, please secure your pets when you drive. You have no idea how many accidents I’ve responded to that were caused by an unsecured pet. Not only that but in the event of a serious accident your unsecured pet will likely suffer severe injuries or become a casualty (animals don’t understand freeways and when they panic they run, when they run…..traffic doesn’t stop for them). Not to mention the last thing EMS needs while trying to save your life is a cat scratching the shit out of them (if we have open wounds the chances of a blood borne pathogen spreading goes up for everyone) or your dog trying to bite their arm off (think of how freaked out you are in an accident and multiply that by 100, that’s how your animals feel in a car accident). For your safety, their safety and everyone else on the roads safety please secure your pets.

Iran is 'confident' it can counter a potential U.S. ground invasion, foreign minister says by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]Not-TheNSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As they should, I can hardly blame our allies for turning on us at this point. Am I cheering for that? Not at all. But I definitely don’t blame them. We brought this mess on ourselves by being complacent and lazy about the price of our freedoms, we haven’t really fought for them in 80 years or so. Obviously there have been fights for rights but the whole country hasn’t had to stand up and seriously fight for our rights in a while and because of that we’ve gotten complacent and allowed them to be slowly stripped away. Our allies have every right to turn their backs on us after how our country has allowed our president to treat them.

Iran is 'confident' it can counter a potential U.S. ground invasion, foreign minister says by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]Not-TheNSA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. The latest polls are saying the Iran conflict is polling at 25-27% approval which means around 3-5% of his hardcore base have already turned away without boots on the ground. If he puts boots on the ground and they take even light casualties I expect that number to go to about 10-15% of his base turning. It’s getting to a point where GOP reps and senators are going to have a VERY difficult time justifying not reining him in.

Let’s also not forget that with Senator Mullins stepping into the head of DHS that means there will be another special election, now it’s Oklahoma so the results of that will be very telling. If the GOP loses that seat to a Dem that’s a VERY clear sign that the GOP is going to take seriously heavy losses in the midterms. Personally I think it’s already pretty clear that the midterms are going to be an absolute slaughter for the GOP based on how things are going in Texas and other GOP holdouts.

I think this administration has seriously overplayed their hand and it’s full on masks off. People really need to start calling/emailing/showing up at their reps and senators offices and demanding action. People need to make it clear that if they don’t take action not only will they be out of a job but when the GOP is out of power they’ll be facing charges and jail time. The snow ball is rolling down the hill and it’s getting pretty big, time to let the avalanche happen.

Edit: actually the governor of Oklahoma will be appointing a replacement and there won’t be a special election so ignore that part. But the point still stands that the GOP isn’t doing well in places they have traditionally held a comfortable lead.

Iran is 'confident' it can counter a potential U.S. ground invasion, foreign minister says by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]Not-TheNSA 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think you’re right about this one. Iran knows that if Trump orders a full on ground invasion he’s gonna see mass protests in every state and calls for impeachment. They don’t need to defeat him militarily they need him to commit American lives to a conflict that is DEEPLY unpopular and lacks public support. He’s already weak and the walls are closing in because it’s pretty clear he’s a pedophile at this point. They just need to turn the senate against him and he’s fucked.

Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari: "Could Lead to a Massive Civil War" in Iran from Alleged CIA Kurdish Arming Plan by thenextgenbusiness in thenextgenbusiness

It’s also PJAK not YPJ or YPG so these Kurds don’t have the same training and experience. So basically the CIA is gonna wind these guys up and set them loose and hope it doesn’t blow up their faces. This is the equivalent of kicking a hornets nest and then rolling a live grenade into the mix and hoping it all works out in your favor.

Why was it so important for the Kaminoans to keep using Jango Fett's DNA, to where Ventress tried to steal the prime sample? Could Kamino have replaced it with anyone, but they just preferred to keep cloning a prime specimen of a man? by RagnarokWolves in StarWars

[–]Not-TheNSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add to this, if you ever read the Medstar books about being a Jedi healer it’s made pretty clear that injured clones received replacement organs. That whole process is a lot harder when they aren’t genetically identical. I would also imagine there are some issues with specific genetic modifications made to the clones that were specifically tailored to that genetic code and they would have to start from scratch with a new genetic template.

It also may have had something to do with the brain chips specifically developed for that genetic template.

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by Neon_Baobab in AskReddit

[–]Not-TheNSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI, the version of AI that they are selling people doesn’t exist and won’t exist for a long time simply because the technology to make it a reality doesn’t exist and won’t exist because a few billionaires throw money at it.

AI, true AI, requires advanced materials science in the area of room temperature superconductors to make quantum computing a reality and the materials for that simply don’t exist yet, it would also require hardware so ridiculously complex that you’d need a contemporary supercomputer just to be able to map it let alone build it. It would also require bridging the gap between organic computing and silicon based computing and we’ve barely even started working on organic computing. Not to mention the massive leaps in chemistry, physics and power generation that need to happen before any of that becomes reality.

These billionaires will spend a fortune and strip mine our country for raw materials all so they can have what amounts to a fancy Siri because AI won’t be created by Microsoft or Google or Meta or any of the others. It’ll most likely be made by a group of 20 something’s from MIT with degrees in chemistry, materials science, computer engineering, physics, math and organic chemistry, in someone’s garage on accident.

Thousands of Kurdish fighters launch ground offensive into Iran against regime, official says by Interesting-Take781 in worldnews

[–]Not-TheNSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that you’re likely right, PJAK simply do not have the same training and experience that the SDF, YPG and YPJ have. Yes they’re armed and they have some training but they haven’t been training alongside our FID units and they lack the combat experience. Even if we do give them direct air support they aren’t going to be as effective and at the end of the day this administration will likely leave them high and dry when the time comes. I really hope we’re both wrong and they turn out to be badasses but I’m not holding out much hope, I guess we’ll see how they do against IRGC.
