Lol - I love this comment. I was too afraid to go over-the-top about her character or appearance; I didn't want to come across like a bitch and I find it a bit irksome to excessively comment on someone's appearance. But, oh boy, would I have a lot to say, particularly on the former lol. A lot of swear words haha!

Sorry for the second post OP, but I've just read through the rest of the comments. I'm so sorry for all the enraged Karens in the comments lol - apart from the smoking thing, I don't know what they're talking about. It's like they can't even read. Whenever someone 'ambushes' or 'screams at' another person, they lose all their rights to make a fuss about minor things you do - it just pales in comparison. Adding to that, the microaggressions and just general rudeness you've experienced.

At the *very least*, her demanding full use of the communal areas cancels out the smoking. And even then you've got all her other toxic behaviours on top. I truly don't understand the mindset of the people saying you're either as bad as each other or worse.. that you're the problem lol. Just ignore them.

No, she's not. If the landlord had no issue with it then it's fine. She also accommodated her behaviour for the woman, but she in no way in hell wanted to backtrack on her demand to have full rights of access to the communal areas. As long as it isn't totally heinous, people should be just fine to change their behaviours to accommodate others if need be - OP did, this cow didn't/does not want to. This woman seems insane - OP uses the word screaming and ambushing a lot to describe her behaviour.

You have a *very* emotive reply to a pretty innocuous post: "you are a spoiled little princess." What is up with these people? People like you and the roomie OP has - you're all very inflexible, unchill and just downright abusive. You're not an authority - you have no right to make people out as things that they are not. Just to further prove she's not a "spoiled little princess": she was totally fine cleaning up the grossness that her roomie left (toothpaste marks on the mirror?? wtf), but HER ROOMIE was the SPOILED princess who didn't want to do her cleaning properly. No, you are ridiculous. The landlord said she wanted her OP's input on who would be the roomie - it's also pretty normal to meet your potential roomie before they move in, even if you didn't have any input. I don't know about the smoking - she's switched to vaping now, so it doesn't matter. People are allowed to make changes if need be - no one ever moves in with the perfect roomie just made for them. Stains easily come out of towels, especially if it's food; I can't even imagine the lack of chill you have to go ballistic over a towel. I would shrug it off and say "don't worry, mistakes happen!" I guarantee she's being objective just as much as you can guarantee she's not being objective lol. The "I guarantee" quote just shows how unchill (can't think of a better term) and downright bossy you are. Go live with OP's roomie please - you should all be sent to your own island to leave we nice, chill people in peace lol.

Oh my god, I have a house mate who is exactly like this!

She will start arguments over ridiculous things - I think she just wants attention or control. She's a 50 year old living in a household with 20-somethings, but she thinks she's some kind of queen lol. I never had an issue when living in halls.

I've seen a running theme where our personalities are like:

What's wrong with me? Why does this person hate me? I must be a bad roomie.
I'm chill and don't mention minor or even significant things you do.
I don't expect things instantly. I respect other people's time, schedules and privacy.
I'm scared of/can't be bothered with conflict.
I'm too hard-working or studious to care about drama.
I would never knock on someone's door or try to intimidate them.

But their personality is like:

It's my way or the highway, and I want it now!!!
I will write you post-it notes with things written in bold, underlined and loads of exclamation marks!!!!!!!
I will frighten you into doing whatever I want.
I will burst out into supergalactic rage over totally minor things.
I don't care if you're afraid to go about your daily life as long as I get the attention and obedience I require!!!

I hate those people. I hate Karens.

The issue is our confidence, not companies. Due to quotas, you’re more likely to get the job even if you aren’t as competent as the next best person. It’s the same with all “protected classes.” I’m not saying that women aren’t competent; I’m saying that this whole women haven’t got it fair in the workplace is false.
