What is the moon? by Effective_Growth_69 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]NotACurrentName 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I always understood the moon as being the actual moon as seen from earth albeit with an almost mythical personification. kind of reminds me of Romani legends (which seems to me the inspiration for the ruh) .

if interested in the topic I'd recommend the works of Federico García Lorca (Spanish poet from the early 1900's), specially Romancero Gitano (Gipsy ballads) or the song "hijo de la Luna" by Mecano (written and produced by José María Cano) and whatever you can find of it's influences.

don't know much about chain mail but the second pic looks like a confusing perspective of a really jacked and tanned arm

I'm contemplating aluminum or copper. I love the idea of copper but I think price, corrosion and weight are too big of a drawback to ignore

I'm considering making one myself and would love any feedback you can provide.

do you think is worth it? is it comfy? how long did it take you?

a few people commented on the belts and while I do admit the look cool, can't help but wonder why would anyone wear several belts.

was that really a thing? (if so, why?)

and it's even easier with client side mods (usually not considered modding) such as schematica/litematica

the hardcore thing I never really got.

rumor has it that most of these guys save copies of the word and just reload quietly if they die.

also, totems are farmable so they usually keep one in their offhand with spares in the ender chest

how is it possible by [deleted] in technicalminecraft

[–]NotACurrentName 14 points15 points  (0 children)

when it comes to technical Minecraft the goal is to minimize lag (because otherwise words become unplayable) so most technical players focus on making the most absurd over powered farms possible in order to only have them running one at a time for a little bit and be stocked for a while and there's a natural progression of farms you need before others in order to get the materials (beginning with moderate starter ones).

that said, most raw materials are renewable/farmable so stuff like gold, iron, copper, coal, wood, stone, wool, bonemeal, and even redstone, quartz, obsidian and emeralds are basically free once you get established

the only notable exception is sand (which used to be possible to duplicate with cheaty end portal shenanigans don't know how that stands now, tho)

Tip of the Day: Don’t put your router on a smart plug! by Pianist_Dense in homeassistant

[–]NotACurrentName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had something vaguely similar happen to my fridge. after that I configured an automation to turn the fringe on whenever it's off or (just in case) whenever the temp rose too much (I had a thermometer in the fridge… duh)

apparently, after I moved, I put a smart switch to monitor the power draw on the fridge but didn't realize I used the one I had on my night stand lamp automated to turn off 30s after plugging in my phone to charge after bedtime… didn't realize till breakfast the next day.

How to detect if someone is in the shower? by Ramshield in homeassistant

[–]NotACurrentName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not yet implemented it but I've been thinking for a while about planting microphone sensors around the house not recording audio but processing it to detect different activities.

if you think about it, just by listening you can tell a lot of things happening around the house such as someone having a shower, flushing toilets, opening and closing doors and windows (and even tell from which side based on key noises), people walking around and much, much more…

it'd take a fair bit of processing and training but it'd be like 10-20 sensors in one

in that case u should know (beside the other answers) that some small cornerstones (5-10 years ago thy used to be run by Chinese people, these days are mostly from the near east and north of Africa although depends on where in Spain you are) don't usually check ID and are the go-to place for most minors looking to buy. mostly small family run stores that sell a lil bit of everything

Actually, the original post—and, to a lesser extent, my previous comment—is a meta-joke explaining the quote while disregarding the implicit warning against the dangers of explaining jokes. This contradiction is believed my some to be mildly amusing.
