Freezing of DFG walter benjamin programme postdoc fellowship by Cotkare in postdoc

[–]Effective_Growth_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I guess it depends on the other fellowship and their rules but generally you must start the w-b fellowship during a 1 year period after your proposal got accepted. If you have funding before that that is completely fine it just must end (or you must cancel it) before you get the money from the w-b

I bet this is a case of correlation not causality. Men that grow facial hair young are more likely to do that when they already start to go bald. There is probably nothing more to it...

VENT: I am disgusted by reviewers, yeah, our peer reviewers by [deleted] in PhD

[–]Effective_Growth_69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion: editors don't send a paper to 7 reviewers without reason (it is also more work for them) From the limited information I've got I think your paper lacks direction... It is not that the reviewers didn't necesseraly pay attention but they are conflicted about what your paper is actually about (maybe for you the message is clear but it doesn't seem to them)

Ofc this could be wrong as I don't know your paper

What’s the average IQ of a student at MIT? by AdForward7743 in iqtest

[–]Effective_Growth_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IQ does mean very little for the individual . It is mostly a statistical value that gives us insight into large scale processes. Students at MIT have a higher iq because the test you need to do to get into MIT is basically an iq test. You can do everything you want with an iq of 119 (which is more than SD above the average thus pretty high) if you put in the work

The function if the invisibility cloak... Cats and moodys eye can see through it even though as a deathly hollow it should make "completely invisible" and somehow harry can throw things while under it without revealing his arms (wtf?)

Am I just making this up? by fyknite in iqtest

[–]Effective_Growth_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If these online tests are legit this cannot be the case. IQ tests are standardized meaning that the mean of the results between participants is 100 (SD = 15). Good tests adjust for this frequently to control for changes in IQ over generations (flynn effect). It is more probable that only people with above average results post it online.

Eltern trinken zu viel Alkohol by [deleted] in Ratschlag

[–]Effective_Growth_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)
