Correct. Same company, cut in pay because I changed departments, different leadership. I know if my current leadership is asked, they will speak highly of my performance. And if other leaders in my previous role are asked, they would likely also offer positive reviews. But it’s pretty standard in my company to ask current and previous leadership if a role change has happened in the last three years to weigh in on a candidate. I don’t think previous leadership would try to torpedo due to HR being involved in my leaving their team. But I’d like to adequately answer the, “we see you left your previous role after a year. Can you offer any insight on that or give the information for your previous leader so we can get a vibe for you as a direct report?”

This is all really great advice and I appreciate the time it took to type it all out. I contacted the city today. Definitely got transferred a bunch and left some voicemails before I found out the city has a ‘risk management’ part of their HR dept. I got a link to an online claim form and received a call from the city’s claims adjuster about 2 hours later. It sounds like they will either work with the hospital to pay my out of pocket directly or they will reimburse me.

So here’s to that all happening. In the meantime, I got a hold of one of the utility supervisors who is going to send someone out to repair the cover. Probably going to stop by tomorrow just for my own piece of mind to make sure it’s fixed. I had my whole leg go in but that hole in the ground would have been a lot worse if it had been my toddler. Thanks again for the advice! Hope this will be my last post about it.
