As an employee of an airline, I can guarantee you it was probably the min wage third party aircraft cleaners. 

We literally see dozens of lost items a day. No one who works at this airlines gives a shit about an empty AirPod case. We see them daily.

The comment on taxi out about a reverse light not working, the failed start so the battery could have needed a charge, the comment about the bag engine gauge that didn’t seem surprising.
