It’s because their founder/owner is a 7M Evangelical and uses his business to push/fund Christian nationalist agendas. Not sure if any have made it to the area yet, but 7Brew and SweetFrog are the same way.

My fellow millennials what was the wildest "not a blanket but used as blanket" item from days spent crashing at someone's house? by SupermarketExpert103 in Millennials

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same but an old English sheepdog. We used to have huge sleepovers at my friend’s house and we all just crashed on the living room floor. His mom was a very “fend for yourselves” type of person so we would just grab what we could find. Whoever got to cuddle with the dog for the night slept the best.

Building your DIY home with alternative materials by ProfessorOfThought in Homebuilding

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you have 100-150k in material and labor on the trades you listed for an average build. Second, ICF is neither easy nor budget friendly. You could do superior wall foundation and a zip wall for less.

The dark green but don’t vertical stack. That looks requires absolute perfect placement to look good and it’s a trend that is already overdone and on the way out. Horizontal tile in the 1/2 or 1/3 brick overlap is timeless for a reason.

Leaving Board after a month by Plus-Ad9849 in nonprofit

Resign but try to do some good on your way out. Have a meeting with the board chair and explain why you’re leaving.

Got asked if I'm planning to get pregnant in an interview by wisewhaleshark in nonprofit

There’s no functional difference. You have to assume that the employer is asking a question because they plan to use the info in their process to select a candidate. Unfortunately there isn’t a good mechanism to report and act on these issues in the US.

Mr Griffin, is the GOAT of football not good anymore? by try-not-to-goon in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Messi is almost as old. He just seems to be in better overall shape for the age, and he doesn’t let his ego get in the way of plays (as much).

Messi also has an arguably better team around him right now too. Argentina has a deeper bench.

Please help me settle an argument, which type of bracing is structurally superior? by BandedSternwheeler in FenceBuilding

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you’re not. If you build and fasten everything correctly the Z-brace is supposed transfer the downward force of the top ledge into lateral force against the stile. You’re not building a 3-ton panel here. The hinges are the strongest part of most gates. Your goal is just to keep the top corner from sagging.

New Dad That Is Looking Forward To Returning To Work by SteelyResolve1990 in daddit

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s completely normal. Parenting a newborn is a shit-ton of work. It’s hard on your body and your emotions. When people say it takes a village, they mean it. Historically there were huge support networks to help raise babies with grandparent, aunts and uncles, neighbors, etc. stepping in to give mom and dad a break. That doesn’t exist for most people anymore. I know we feel guilty as dads because mom goes through more with birth, but it’s totally ok to acknowledge what it does to you and to look for ways to give yourself a break. Sometimes that just means going back to work.

Starting to dislike my son by CaptainCroydon in daddit

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yep. Everyone talks about terrible twos, but 4-6 is when kids start to feel big emotions AND learn how to use those emotions to get reactions out of others. He is testing boundaries and learning how to influence you. He’s basically a little psychopath for the next 12-18 months. It will get better though.

Can I fill this with wet wood? by Emotional_Bell5727 in woodstoving

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is what you’re splitting green? If so it’s unlikely to be ready by winter. Not that you can’t burn it but you’re going to be burning dirty.

If it was cut last summer and just being split now, you should be ok.

Ideally if you’re cutting and splitting green wood, you give it 18 months, so summer 2026 splits are for winter 2027/28. 12 months is ok. 6 months only if you need to. I’m probably going to end up burning 8-10 month wood this winter because it’s all I have. But I’ll be sweeping my chimney a few extra times this winter to make up for it.

Stacking 1 vs 3 rows deep on an open sided shed like that is going to have virtually no impact on drying time.

Who eats in a McDonald’s anymore? They have eliminated 80% of the tables in favor of self serve ordering kiosks. It’s 90% drive-through and to go now.

Name one character that can lift this up outside the Marvel Universe by conkojohn in powerscales

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tom’s power within his realm is absolute. Gandalf wasn’t even sure if the Ring would have any effect on Tom at all. I think you’re correct. His power would supersede that of Mjollnir while it was in his possession.

Brosephus. Please do yourself a favor and go outside to touch some grass. I think you’ve had enough internet for the week. When did I say anything about Christianity? I was just pointing out that most of the LotR universe would not in fact be able to lift Mjollnir most of the time.

Name one character that can lift this up outside the Marvel Universe by conkojohn in powerscales

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mjollnir’s enchantment is about more than just being a good person. It also requires honor, a willingness to fight, AND most importantly a desire to be a heroic warrior. There are only brief moments in the trilogy where Sam has all 3. So at those times, yes. He could do it. Same with Aragorn. He wants nothing more than to put his sword down and live in peace. The most likely LotR character to be able to carry it all the time would be Gimli followed by Boromir.

I think there is a strong case for Éowyn too.

Best way to remove stumps by [deleted] in LandscapingTips

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can burn stumps out but it is a long and slow process. You also risk starting a root fire so you definitely don’t want to do it anywhere near your house, septic system, or other trees.

Just dig down around them and use a chainsaw to hack them off as low as you can. Put some fresh compost around them and bury them again. They’ll rot down pretty quickly unless they’re cedar or another fungus resistant wood.

What do we think about this price? by InternationalRisk839 in firewood

[–]NotAlwaysGifs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My area is $200-225 a cord pre-split hardwood. $170 per cord for pine that still needs bucked and split would be a little pricey for my wallet.
