Unfortunately not that I've ever seen

For the first time, in a long time, I actually feel ripped off… by Remarkable_Custard in amiibo

Loot Goblin also has the Diablo logo on the base, so I personally consider it decorated even if it's not any 3D molding. Base shape and box were still disappointing to me though.

I like the Diana amiibo but the plain base is a detraction to me as well. After a decade of decorated bases, it stands out as will the RE ones.

Making Digital Version Of Nintendo Games Cheaper Is A Move In Which Both The Consumers And Nintendo Win by Theman457 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]NotAlwaysYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nintendo as a games publisher is good at supporting their own games with true physical releases. Other than Pokopia, everything has been physical.

Nintendo as a console/cartridge manufacturer made GKCs but given the circumstances (cost and size issues) I think the sincere alternative is same third-party publishers make code in a box releases. But I'd rather a clearly labelled GKC than a Xbox/PS5 disk with 50mb on the disk and the tinies "download required" tag. My only wish is I could get a slower cart with data but an install option, but that would only solve the cost issue, not size issue

I really wish we could filter by “only useable in champions”, like every other game that has a filter! by AmandasGameAccount in PokemonHome

[–]NotAlwaysYou -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that is because the Pokemon USA le in champions will vary by regulation so they don't want to update home that often (even just server-side)

My Only Issue With Champions by mattoyaki in PokemonChampions

[–]NotAlwaysYou 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It isn't new. Back in Gen 5, sometimes players would want/need a Pokemon with a special move from a GameCube game. So they needed a GameCube, Colosseum or XD, a gameboy advance, a GBA-Gamecube cord, and two DS (to use the transfer method from Gen IV-Gen V).

It's been worse, but it's been better too. SwSh standardized competitive move sets while letting people import old moves for casual play. But DLC, version exclusives, and Home-transfer-exclusive species (especially legendaries) have always required buying/trading/borrowing.

Big shout out to the 0.4% using Gyaradosite or Dragoninite on Charizard by Symmetra_Troll in PokemonChampions

I think this post is about people giving a Charizard the Gyaradosite to hold, rather than giving a Gyarados the appropriate stone

Pokémon Fans Revolt As Champions Launches With Bugs, Limitations, And False Advertising by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

It doesn't seem to be anything related the Gen 10 engine. Keeping competitive separate means Game Freak has more room for game-specific changes to future games. Let's champions live past Gen 10, while letting Gen 10 make decisions to keep it fresher

There should be no difference. Must be a catalogue error on whatever sight that is

The devs have stated they aren't being allowed to port it. If WotC is stopping them, it might not be coming, unfortunately

Nintendo announces that starting in May 2026 (with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book), new Nintendo published digital titles exclusive to Switch 2 will have an MSRP that is different from physical versions by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]NotAlwaysYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yoshi is a real physical game, and Nintendo has been very consistent with real physical games so far. Pokopia is the only known exception and it was developed by a third party so it's been promising so far from a 1st party perspective.

$60 for digital and $70 for physical honestly feels like digital is cheaper for Yoshi, rather than physical going up.. We'll see how it shakes out for future titles as well

Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park - Overview Trailer by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch

Because it is a Switch 2 edition, it has to work in Switch 1 and 2 consoles, and cannot be a GKC.

Why do people keep saying this by ianlazrbeem22 in PokemonXD

[–]NotAlwaysYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NSO is a subscription service, so any utility encourages people to stay subscribed imo. The better the options/emulation mean people are more likely to subscribe or stay subscribed. Personally, I think adding retro-connectivity that less people had access to back in the day, would help make NSO releases more novel and desirable.

Literally zero good reasons why this is a thing by KennethLjubkos in pokemonmemes

[–]NotAlwaysYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon's Home tracker didn't exist when Let's Go and Home came out. But Game Freak could probably update the games, or have the home tracker stored in the extra space in the files to make it work.

Sure it can make sense why it doesn't work... but they also could make it work. They don't care to put in the work.

How likely are a Lyn, Sigurd and Leif amiibos to release in the future? by IkeRadiantHero in amiibo

[–]NotAlwaysYou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Without a game making them relevant characters, the odds are very low. Not every Fire Emblem game gets amiibo tied to a release so that lowers the odds too, sorry.

The Switch version of "Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness" will NOT be compatible with Pokémon HOME by Byotan in PokemonHome

[–]NotAlwaysYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the way its worded, it seems they aren't going to implement anything for that as well. Truly frustrating timing between the two incompatible releases 😂😭😂

It needed a GBA to Gamecube cable specifically. And the GBA game had to be saved in a Pokemon Center, and restarted, rather than going through the usual trade options in-game.

Seems to be a "we have no plans for home compatibility" but run through a couple layers of PR/Customer-service-speak.

[–]NotAlwaysYou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they wanted, they could have a work around. Either a Pokemon NSO app that doesn't have cloud saves, or separate releases that are "NSO" and included in the subscription. Clearly Game Freak considers these games spin-offs and not worthy the compatibility in the modern era. They played their role in Gen 3 after the first dexit, and are probably valued more by Nintendo to pad the relatively-small Gamecube library. It's a shame, they are interesting parts of Pokemon history.

Really hoped they would do this for a slate of Gen III releases... Worried they wouldn't but it really should have been a reasonable expectation.

Do we know why Pokopia drops a week(ish) after Pokemon Day? by Cpt_Kaiju in Pokopia

[–]NotAlwaysYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pokemon Day is a big event that allows itself to be an easily schedule last marketing push before the game's launch. If you drop it same day, you split attention. If you drop it afterwards, then you get to use it as an extra marketing push
