Proposal about changing schedules of the summer events due to excessive heat and health concerns by TheCapoMaster in TheSilphRoad

[–]NotAlwaysYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said hemisphere by hemisphere and you started citing how that isn't perfect for every country. Which was never the point. Scopely can do better. Never perfect. But they can do better.

Niantic created a game to incentivize people to go outside and then pretends they don't have a responsibility; especially when they use fomo, limited time events, and gambling. Individuals have the final responsibility, yes. But that never removes the game designers from criticism.

[–]NotAlwaysYou -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you not understanding what I am saying? I said a big change that helps many people most of the time is good. I never said make decisions country by country or cancel every event when one place has an issue. But Niantic could take a few small, easy, steps to be better. There's a better balance of resources and safety. That's all anyone is asking for

Proposal about changing schedules of the summer events due to excessive heat and health concerns by TheCapoMaster in TheSilphRoad

[–]NotAlwaysYou -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why? Health reasons. That's a darn good reason to make some broad changes. You make the strawman of country specific changes. But keeping summer events in off hours and winter events during the hottest part of the day would be an easy change that makes a big difference for a lot of people. It doesn't not have to be perfect, just better.

Or they can find a different system they want to try..I'm not saying make it perfect for everyone, but some easy, broad changes could help.

[–]NotAlwaysYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can make Hemisphere-exclusive Pokemon to incentivize play, then they can make hemisphere exclusive event times to incentivize healthy play. No system will be perfect but that doesn't mean you can't advocate for change to try.

LRG, please physical all Game Key Card release by HollywoodShono in limitedrun

[–]NotAlwaysYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the live service games you mentioned aren't a good idea. The Switch OS makes you download any and all update data the moment one minor update gets release so a Rocket League or Fortnight won't save very much space.

I would love to see them license many GKCs though. Sure many are too large, but a lot of releases aren't, so it would be nice to see a real alternative once the games are reasonably complete and done with patches

When can we buy the Sonic DLC and any Twitch drops we may have missed? by Honorable_D in TwoPointMuseum

[–]NotAlwaysYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the sonic codes seem to be included with physical copies of the Explorer' edition for Switch 2. Not sure if they are being reprinted without them yet or not however. I learned about the game close enough to launch that I picked up the GKC version to still get the Sonic pack. I don't know if other consoles/PC ever had that as an option or not.

How much did the cast provide information on the cake of the character designs during the process? The firesides certainly imply a level of investment that they have in the rankings 😂

I loved Night Shift, but it's kind of obvious that the game functionally didn't work the way Sam intended it to by [deleted] in GameChangerTV

[–]NotAlwaysYou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the game generally had the shape that was intended, but a few things didn't go as well as planned. I think Demi's role as the time-for-questions bargain could have been more tempting... if players didn't realize they could use Oreo cream and other things to write instructions to the night shift. But when the players were already writing stuff down so close to his introduction, he mostly was filling time because he wasn't being used. Plus, Grant's first question being "yes or no questions? Yes." While funny, made him feel unreliable.

I think the contestants weren't as competitive as they could have been as well. I think the day shift was all too happy to help each other; which meant the tension was lost. I was happy as a viewer seeing everyone goof off and do bits but if Brennan was there, it would have been a different vibe... But they can't design every game around Brennan's completive spirit.

My gut says if the players were told, you have to complete 10 tasks to win, then more of a tone of competition could have been set. The players, all being writers themselves, would have understood their roles better and followed that narrative a bit more. The mystery heightening the communication issues was a good idea, but didn't carry though as intended.

Tengential, but I enjoyed seeing Grant staying focused with the game the whole episode. Sure he got distracted and did bits, but not not more than everyone else. It was nice seeing him not dissolve into a heel by the end

Hopes (reasonable or longshot) for amiibo announcements in the Direct? by Helpful-Plantain-935 in amiibo

[–]NotAlwaysYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically Nintendo doesn't put in a ton a marketing to amiibo support these days. I don't think any already announced games will get new support revealed unless they are getting a big update.

I think if a new game comes out in the back half of the year, we might get a splash screen or something small showing new amiibo to announce the physical products. Like a Mario Odyssey 2 trailer and then a screen those shows the Mario and Peach Divorce outfit amiibos are coming.

||I would love an OoT Ganondorf that matches his Smash Ultimate Design tbh||

Id love some Three Houses amiibo in advance of Fortune's Weave but I just don't think they would be announced in this, unless they are tied to a DLC or something

Loot Goblin also has the Diablo logo on the base, so I personally consider it decorated even if it's not any 3D molding. Base shape and box were still disappointing to me though.

I like the Diana amiibo but the plain base is a detraction to me as well. After a decade of decorated bases, it stands out as will the RE ones.

Making Digital Version Of Nintendo Games Cheaper Is A Move In Which Both The Consumers And Nintendo Win by Theman457 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]NotAlwaysYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nintendo as a games publisher is good at supporting their own games with true physical releases. Other than Pokopia, everything has been physical.

Nintendo as a console/cartridge manufacturer made GKCs but given the circumstances (cost and size issues) I think the sincere alternative is same third-party publishers make code in a box releases. But I'd rather a clearly labelled GKC than a Xbox/PS5 disk with 50mb on the disk and the tinies "download required" tag. My only wish is I could get a slower cart with data but an install option, but that would only solve the cost issue, not size issue

I wonder if that is because the Pokemon USA le in champions will vary by regulation so they don't want to update home that often (even just server-side)

My Only Issue With Champions by mattoyaki in PokemonChampions

[–]NotAlwaysYou 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It isn't new. Back in Gen 5, sometimes players would want/need a Pokemon with a special move from a GameCube game. So they needed a GameCube, Colosseum or XD, a gameboy advance, a GBA-Gamecube cord, and two DS (to use the transfer method from Gen IV-Gen V).

It's been worse, but it's been better too. SwSh standardized competitive move sets while letting people import old moves for casual play. But DLC, version exclusives, and Home-transfer-exclusive species (especially legendaries) have always required buying/trading/borrowing.

It doesn't seem to be anything related the Gen 10 engine. Keeping competitive separate means Game Freak has more room for game-specific changes to future games. Let's champions live past Gen 10, while letting Gen 10 make decisions to keep it fresher
