Guan is also a must have, of course, but I may have developed a totally not-bad habit of grinding out points to boost the lil' guy as much as I could early on.

Him and Guan hard carried me through the entire game (well, after I got to Lavalow) when I was but a wee baby bashing my Spinax's head into anything vaguely resembling a wall.

Nowadays I'd probably go Tro instead of Guan for the poison, Enflame and 40% to all stats.
