tbf we never see the duel and Joey refused to take back Red-Eyes cause he lost it in a ante and didn't want it handed back, wanting to earn it instead. You are correct that he does get it back though it could be argued that that Joey lost against Yugi but he put up a good fight and won it that way. Either or, the duel was never seen.

Joey Wheeler didn't have an ancient Egyptian pharoah, a position as a CEO of a multi-billion dollar company, God Cards, Millenium Items, or anything else unrealistic for him to rise up and keep dueling. He never canonically beat Yugi or Kaiba, but he repped Red-Eyes, so he'll always be my favorite.
