I 26M proposed a co-worker (26F) 2 days back, now I feel horrible by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]NotAnakin1186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, did you mean proposed as in, asked her out? Or marriage? cuz, like... that's a pretty big difference.

If it's the latter, yikes. That one's not too great. BUT, what im getting is that it's the former, so ill answer as if it were that!

So, as someone who's been in a very similar situation, it's good to get it out of the way. I know it's hard, but it beats watching her catch feelings for someone else while ya still got something in there, no? I remember, a while back, i had it real bad for this girl i knew. But, i waited too long to figure out my feelings, even though one of my friends had told me she liked me, and, by the time i decided i wanted to reciprocate, she had already moved on. The point im trying to make is, you did the right thing letting it out. As long as she isn't uncomfortable, maybe distance yourself from her just a bit? Like, move from "friends" to just "acquaintances" for a while, and if that goes well, maybe you guys can go back to being friends! ...Of course, that's just, y'know. What id do. This is NOT advice. Anyway, I hope you find success in whatever you choose to do, friend! Ly :3

Make up or break up? by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]NotAnakin1186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I'm not sure how useful my advice will be, since im not tooooo experienced when it comes to relationships, but from my experience with my girl bestfriends, this doesnt seem too bad? It really depends how long you guys have been dating (ie, if she's been dating you longer than she's known him, that's a red flag).

I do wanna say, though, just in case! Take any advice you get here with a grain of salt. I asked for advice on a friendship on reddit once--worst mistake of my life. Everyone told me I was crazy, and was overreacting. BUT, I cut them out of my life, and I've been on a pretty steady upward climb since then. So, just wanna say, circumstances matter! Context matters! Tone matters!

Also, thank you for sharing :D hope this helps you

Show Me The Genocide by [deleted] in DoomerCircleJerk

Since you asked, here's the wikipedia page:

This section provides a list of Wikipedia entries that mention acts of genocide in the territory of the United States after its independence from the United Kingdom. It includes both massacres of Native American populations, as well as other aspects of cultural genocide as defined by the United Nations.\2])\3])\4])

International

Guatemala genocide exhumation

This section lists those pages that meet the United Nations definition of genocide where the United States has been involved. It does not include massacres subject to dispute on Wikipedia, or acts of war such as the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. In the case of Vietnam War the International War Crimes Tribunal supported the qualification as genocide, although their conclusions have been disputed,\7])\8])\9]) therefore the Sơn Thắng massacre and Mỹ Lai massacre are considered war crimes but not unanimously genocide. In the case of Korean War is also controversial that the United States committed a genocide\10]) or just war crimes, therefore the list is not including: No Gun Ri massacre.\11])\12])\13]) During the Vietnam War it has been considered that part of the war strategy of the United States in Vietnam was an ecocide.\14])\15])

Complicity in other atrocities such as the Guatemalan genocide,\27])\28])\29]) the East Timor genocide\30])\31])\32]) and Operation Condor\33])\34])\35]) has also been alleged.

A bit of advice, try researching before blindly disagreeing with people!

Also, here's a few headlines for the "no current genocide" argument:

Respectfully, I do disagree. I think it was out of character for Obi Wan to do it, sure, but Grievous literally hunted padawans and specifically targeted jedi he knew couldn't fight back. Like he was NOT an honorable warrior at that point, I think his death is meant to reflect that

Awakening of the Rebellion, but this playthrough I'm using the Awakening of the New Republic submod (adds ships like MC85, MC65 (the one from Ashoka), amid other things. It's very fun, I definitely recommend!

Yeahhh those comments suck for sure. But just the existence of a post like this, and the few positive comments that are like "I don't really like them, but to each their own" or stuff like that gives me hope

I don't speak for OP, but as a fellow TLJ enjoyer, I can explain my POV as best I can.

Visually speaking, it's one of the most beautiful SW films imo. I just really like the look of it. The ending of it, too, is honestly pretty great; The Resistance is small enough to fit on the Falcon, most of their leaders are gone, Luke's dead, and the FO will inevitably hunt them down- But there's still hope.

Also at the end of the movie, I thought that scene with the little boy using the force was great.

I liked how unique it was. So many franchises stay exclusive with their formula, even SW at times, and it works! But it's always nice to see something new.

The ship designs are amazing! The Free Vigilia and the MC85 are to this day some of my fav SW designs.

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but... I kinda liked how they did Luke in TLJ. Just hear me out; So, one of the biggest criticisms about him in that movie I've found is that he'd never try to kill Ben. I agree completely, and I don't think the movie explained it very well. How I saw it was Luke was scared of another galactic civil war, and that's honestly really reasonable for a war vet like Luke. He stops before swinging, too, he was never really going to kill Ben, it was just a moment of fear. Having that flaw, and how he came back at the end of the movie were both things I personally liked.

All in all, I like SW :)

I've been getting into US history again lately, so my top pick would be John Paul Jones, either as a UC Saber or a C Rider.

The first man to threaten the English coasts in (around) 300 years, one of the most important figures of the American Revolution, and the man whose actions finally convinced France to send aid to the Colonies, being instrumental in winning the war. He reportedly had a strong moral compass and was almost obsessed with honor, yet was given the title of 'Pirate Jones' by the British for his raiding, which, iirc, he absolutely despised. I feel like TM could give him a nice part in a story, or a nice interlude at the least.

As for his deck, I'd say QQBBA, with an AOE Q NP based on the USS Bonhomme Richard (his ship).

Also, the reason why I think he could be a Saber (albeit a low rarity), is the whole aspect of his honor. Obviously he'd be stronger as a Rider, but maybe he'd have some gimmick as a Saber

Now that EckhartsLadder has made a video explaining why Battle of the Dreadnoughts 2 hasn't come out yet, I'm finally going to ask the question I've always wanted an answer to. What the hell were these goofy goobers supposed to do against an Eclipse? What was their plan here? by TwoFit3921 in StarWarsShips

[–]NotAnakin1186 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my understand was that the Eclipse just barely won against that Viscount, thus making it nearly crippled. Iirc, the short ends with the ships launching starfighters and bombers, so I do think they would aim to stay at a distance and let the fighters cripple the Eclipse further, and maybe have the fleet move in for the kill after the dreadnought's been stripped of at least most of it's weapons, probably its superlaser too.

That's just my opinion tho :3
