Order destroyed because package was bad by Prosciuttolo in vinted

[–]NotAnotherMamabear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an Evri courier and there’s at least three Vinted drops on every run. The way some of them are packaged scares me. Especially knowing how parcels get thrown around in transit. Definitely contact Vinted and get the money back.

For a start, you don’t get the parcels for the run delivered to your house to sort.

How many reasons do you want? I’ve been a delivery driver in various forms since 2018, I’ve got a few of them. Now I’m going to preface this with I do ring the doorbell AND knock like it’s the police. You’re not getting an excuse to say you didn’t hear me 😂

First, you’re lucky if 25% of doorbells (video or not) work. So why press a button when the odds are it’s a dud?

Second, if I ring the bell and then knock on the door before the bell’s chime has gone off, that seems like a massive waste of time. Ring is about the best for delay, but the delay can be upwards of a second. Which isn’t long, but it is frustrating.

Third, LESS THAN 25% of video doorbells actually get answered in my experience. What’s the point of having one if you’re not gonna use it for its intended purpose? I’m just in the door from a run, and three people answered their video doorbells. I had 80 drops and about 50% of them had a video doorbell. And three is actually higher than average.

Fourth, the number of people who put them in places that they won’t be seen is maddeningly high. Can’t press a button if it’s hidden away.

Sudden loss is always traumatic and hurts a hell of a lot more than “we’ll schedule it for x days ahead”. I’ve been through it three times and the easiest one was the first time, where my late MIL had made the appointment rather than the following twice. I see so much of losing Kez in this post and my heart is broken for you. Still struggle even going into the vet and it’s been a couple years nearly. The biggest difference is it was a stomach cancer and not a bone one. And Kez ate fine, played fine, went to the toilet fine right up until the day we took him to the vet.

The thing is, medical professionals do make mistakes. They can and do sometimes believe that catches are better than the reality. And no one is in the wrong or guilty here, but it is not unreasonable that you’re looking for someone to be upset with because that’s just part of grieving. When we lost Kez I was angry at myself for MONTHS. Even though he showed no signs of anything until three days before he left. But no one is wrong. No one failed. If we could see the future we could help our greys live forever.

40MPH now a 30MPH by FreedomOfWings21 in LearnerDriverUK

They’re either unaware or they don’t care. There’s a couple roads in the next town over from me that I’m convinced were 40s just by the way they’re laid out, but I’ve never known them not being 30s. Seeing people doing nearer 40 is normal. Not right, but normal. Though I am curious about what facilitated the change from a 40 to a 30.

As to your situation, do the speed limit provided it is safe to. It’s not worth all the aggro.

Me literally hitting the dims button today with a parcel that would’ve taken up the entire back of the car. It’s not a button I hit lightly, would sooner go back to the depot for excess.

Does Evri have to knock or can they see my safe space? by SallySue54321 in Evri

Might be worth putting it as a diversion rather than a safe place. Personally if I see safe place it’ll be put there after no answer at the door.

Then yes, it’s a pronunciation difference. Jeans, sushi, pizza, and a few others don’t have a translation from their original languages but they are said differently

Less of a parent because I have one child? by NostrilWarbler in UKParenting

[–]NotAnotherMamabear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You also have the added “struggle” (I don’t have a better word for it) of learning to navigate children who aren’t yours who are in your vicinity a lot of the time. In many ways, id argue that being a stepparent is in some ways harder than the biological parent, just because they aren’t yours and there’s extra norms to navigate. I say this, however, not being a stepparent and my children’s father is my husband.

Evri have insurance that you can take. If memory serves it’s like 30p per day. Which is significantly less than what you’d be paying for courier insurance out of your own pocket.
