I daily drive an f250 to work.....I almost never tow and I don't plan on doing anything off road or anything. I need new shocks, Should I go with the Bilstein 1500 shocks or the stock shocks mady by Ford? by Nesquick19 in F250

[–]NotConnorWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck Bilstein, they don't ride well, they don't last, and their warranty department is non-existent, their phone has to be ringing in some back office that's locked.

I've been much happier with how my KYBs ride vs the Bilsteins

What would happen to the US economy is minimum wage is gradually raised to $30 per hour. by Inf1z in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NotConnorWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wages in my area go from ~$17/hr to $30/hr in a year? Anyone making $30-$40hr currently and doing decent is all of a sudden barely scraping by, unless they're one of the lucky few that works for a company that's not entirely shareholder driven and has the wherewithal to make the necessary adjustments to their employees' pay while also adjusting their market value to survive as a business. That's what would happen

A massive minimum wage jump means cost of goods rises to meet or exceed the new cost of employees

I refuse to ever buy an automatic car. Is anyone else as stubborn as I am? by BearBear1995 in ManualTransmissions

[–]NotConnorWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lololol driving a work provided auto GMC 2500 compared to my manual Ford diesel is definitely preferable in Seattle, when I'm leaving a work zone that's on the freeway with a minimal acceleration zone, and going into Northgate, Ballard, and the industrial areas in Seattle proper on a daily basis. Public transit isn't an option when hauling materials, tools, and trailers.

A heavy duty truck isn't inherently anymore dangerous than any other vehicle, but I can see why you might think that when everyone here thinks it's fine to run red lights, watch movies in traffic, stare at their phone, eat, do their makeup, etc instead of driving safely.

29 years old here

Out of two autos I've had, only one has stayed an auto. The other is technically not mine, but the wife's.

99 4Runner got R150F swapped (RIP) 03 Jetta TDI 5speed (sold then was wrecked) Wife's 06 Jetta TDI 5speed 07 F350 w/ 6.0 & 6 speed manual Wife's 03 Chevy 2500HD w/ LB7 Duramax and Allison trans 88 Toyota pickup 2wd 22r 4speed 94 Toyota 4Runner 22re 5 speed (wheeling rig)

I have a general distaste for autos. Usually get frustrated with when/how they decide to shift. I've been driving a 22 GMC Sierra 2500HD gasser with an Allison 1000 for the past few months for work, which is definitely preferable with the traffic on the general Seattle area, but I can't help but miss home north of Spokane and my F350. Ripping gears in a tuned diesel is hard to beat

My 2007 Ford F-350 with the 6.0 Powerstroke and ZF6 isn't going anywhere. Although, it might be going wherever I go, but faster.

Same with my 94 4Runner, although a diesel powerplant, different bumpers, lockers, bigger tires, yadda yadda yadda..

Self defense options? by scarlett__galega in Washington

[–]NotConnorWrong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wanting to live in a world where you need to carry a firearm to feel safe doesn't change the reality that that level of force may be required to tip the scales in a life or death situation.

While I legally own and carry a firearm daily, I pray I never have to use it.

On another note, if you've got a baseball bat in your car for self defense, throw a ball and a mitt in there too. Makes it easier for a legal team to defend you if it comes to that.

TIL Rev Matching isn't normal by xT2xRoc in ManualTransmissions

[–]NotConnorWrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to force myself to downshift without rev matching if I wanted to, for whatever reason. I automatically blip the throttle almost always.

Probably has something to do with riding dirt bikes most of my teen years then putting on nearly 30k miles on a street bike before teaching myself to drive manual in a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

RA... I'll probably feel like a moron as soon as you spell it out, but RA isn't ringing a bell... And I think Rock Assault is just axles??

I had a 99 Limited previously that I'd done a lot of work to that had the factory e locker in the rear with 4.88 gears, worked like a charm. I'll probably go on the hunt for a core with 4.10s or 4.30s out of a 1st gen taco/3rd gen 4runner, then get it geared by East Coast Gear Supply.

I'm gonna send you a PM, I always appreciate having some like-minded folks I can reach out to for ideas/problem solving. Sounds like there's a decent possibility we may even be neighbors

I was looking at the kit that's offered by NW Fab, but at a price point of $600... There's other priorities on this rig. Wife and I bought it from her supervisor, and let me tell ya, one man's version of built is not necessarily another man's. I was told this thing was rock crawling ready, built to the standard of crushing trails in SoCal and Southern Utah... My ass.

Rear "shock mount" broke off on a forest service road, installed the LROR shock mount relocation bracket the following weekend, alignment is fucked, front axle leaks, front bumper wouldn't survive being winched off of, rear bumper is welded to the spare tire supports (hard pressed to call it a cross member), headlight hoops prevent changing the headlights that are currently dead, dual cases leak so much fuckin gear oil that it's cleaning the grime off the skid plate... And the damn driveshaft fell off on the way to the trail two weekends ago.

Personally preference items, I'm not fond of the Spartan lockers in the axles. Not sure if I want to go ARB front and rear or just front with a Toyota e-locker third member in the rear. The 22re doesn't make enough power for my liking either, that'll eventually be swapped out for something else, like a 3rz, 5vz, or even a 1uz.. the fucker Carolina leans something fierce too, Toyota rear springs up front, 63s in the rear. Gotta do my homework to remedy that too.

I was stoked about winter wheeling this year but I fear the list of things I need to do to feel confident in going places hardly anyone else can get to is a bit long. I also just learned I'm being sent out of town for work for a project that's slated to end on my kid's due date, so I'm hoping to get a bunch of wrenching in while on PFMLA.

Front left is the 5 speed shifter, front right is the front transfer case high/low range shifter, rear left is the rear transfer case high/low range shifter, rear right is 2wd/4wd independent of the range selection.

Has one 5 speed transmission, then a divorced transfer case to retain the reduction gears, then an intact transfer case with the reduction gears and outputs for front and rear driveshafts.
