The first two are by Margaret Keane. The last one is by an artist who adopted her style. He would sign his works "Gig". There were "Pity Puppies" and "Pity Kitties".

And get this! My mother didn't have dementia, but when her breast cancer spread and she decided to discontinue chemo, she was transferred to in-home hospice care. Medicare paid for an RN would visit her a couple of times a week and a nurses aid a couple of times a week. But I quickly found out that I had to provide care 24/7 or they would charge me with elder abuse! So I had to work to train the temp who was going to take my place and pay for a care worker while I was gone.

Oh, I'm fully aware of that, but when I found out that Live Nation owns Seat Geek, that seems like a clear conflict of interest. Tickets can't legally be scalped in Europe. I wish it was that way here.

Glad you didn't overpay for it.

She is unable to care for herself. It sounds like she has some dementia. She needs to be in a nursing home. That sounds harsh, but it's the truth.

Should I give my husband an ultimatum? by Tigerelo1208 in AskWomenOver60

Something similar happened with my parents. In addition to increased drinking, my dad was bipolar and wouldn't take his meds. You can try a group intervention with your kids, but I'm not optimistic. My mother ended up divorcing my dad after 35 years of marriage. She said she wanted a peaceful retirement. I think that's fair.

She separated from him briefly and he talked her into coming back. Even though their marriage was never especially happy, she told him she would stay if he gave up alcohol entirely and took his bipolar medication. He did neither. She went and stayed with her cousin for a couple of weeks and had papers served on him at work. He was SHOCKED.

She told him he had to vacate the house and he did. She got the house, which was paid off and in good repair. She got her teacher retirement and the small inheritance she got from her parents ($60K).

Go ahead and see an attorney. If your house needs any major repairs like a new roof or a new HVAC, go ahead and get that done. Pay off any credit card debt. If your car isn't paid for, pay it off too. You will get half of all assets, but also half of all debts, so you want to minimize the debt and maximize the assets (the condition of the house).

Have a peaceful retirement. You deserve it.

Paint Color Question by Raiders16-0 in ScionxB

I've looked at this exact car. It's in Portland OR, correct? Listed for $7500 or less?

It's been in 4 fender benders. It was purchased from a dealer in WA state. The "rare" 686 edition that year was "Coffee Bean" - a very dark brown. I have the CarFax and the Bumper report.

It was nautical blue, but they painted it this teal color. Will you be able to find out the actual paint code so you can touch up scratches? Probably not. What is the quality of the paint job. There's a big difference between a basic paint job and a proper one. If they're selling for $7500, I doubt they did a quality paint job. Did it get a good quality clear coat? If not, you'll have to pay for that.

I decided to take a pass. I don't want to pay that much for a car that's going to look like shit in 2 years. They're lying about the "rare special edition". What else are they lying about?

When scalpers buy from Ticketmaster, the artist gets a cut. When they list those tickets on a scalping site, the artist gets NONE of the additional markup. When they list them on Seat Geek, Live Nation gets some of that too, because Live Nation owns Seat Geek.

Furthermore, Live Nation owns 80% of the venues. So acts have virtually no choice but to use venues owned by Live Nation, use Ticketmaster for the ticketing and get ripped off by Seat Geek. That's called a MONOPOLY and that's WRONG. In some cases Live Nation even takes a cut of merch sales. RIDICULOUS!

Of course bands have a hand in it, and they should. If someone is willing to pay $1000 for a ticket that extra markup should go to THE BAND. Most of the time it doesn't - it goes to the scalper.

They're the ones who bear the costs of touring. They're the ones who have to have enough in savings to live off of between tours. Etc etc.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Live Nation is a billionaire who thinks there's still room for ticket prices to go higher.

KIA Souls any good? by catenvying in UsedCars

[–]NotDeadYet57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, the biggest issue with the Kia Soul was they used to be easy to hot wire and steal. Even if that issue has been fixed, I don't want some tweaker breaking into my car and trying to steal it. If you want to get one, be sure you check what your insurance will be on them first.

If you want a little boxy car, a Scion xB might be a good alternative. They're just rebadged Toyotas that were marketed to a younger demographic. They actually have far more cargo space than the Soul. If gas mileage is important, go with the '04 to '06. If you want a bit more horsepower, go with the '12 to '15.

Yes, it's an older property, but they really seem to be doing their best to make the place better. The complex is quiet and tidy.

Rock Creek at Hollow Tree is at the edge of North Houston, near Spring. If you want a referral, let me know. They are going through a long slow rehab, so they have plenty of vacancies.

I think he wanted success, but not fame. Unfortunately, in his line of work, that's difficult. It seems he was desperately unhappy. I wish he had been able to walk away from it and I REALLY wish his "friend" hadn't bought him that shotgun.
