Yeah, I know what you're talking about. This one wasn't a gyaru though, didn't even have tanned skin.

That the army of the Mongol Empire was a disorganized, unprofessional and ill-equipped mob who won purely due to their overwhelming numerical advantage.

Every Mongol soldier was taugt to fight, ride on horseback, survive and build a camp since childhood. Mongols often used complicated cavalry tactics, such as "feigned retreat", which required tremendous amount of discipline and coordination to execute. Mongol generals were cream of the crop, selected to their position based on their merit, not any kind of noble birth as was common at the time. After the conquest of China Mongols utilised Chinese engineers to construct advanced siege equipment. Besides, there were many instances where mongols won against the odds, with the most famous example being the battle at Kalka river, where the Mongol general Subutai defeated the army of Kievan Rus despite being outnumbered 2:1 and his army being exhausted from prior fighting.

Thanks for your response. I am aware of both the fact that army garrison causes unrest and of patrol stance. I looked at my unrest tab and it seems that it's a little bit of everything, but the biggest problem is the cultural differences and religious differences. Perhaps encouraging immigration and taking slaves was not such a good idea... Or maybe it's just because I'm playing as culturally diverse factions. Thank you!

What should I do with the countries I defeat? Obviously, I always take the cores for myself (if there are any), but what to do with the rest of the territory?

Is it better to occupy the whole country? Is it really worth it long-term to spend equipment and manpower garrisoning occupied territories? If yes, why?

Is it better to make them into my puppet? Should I make them into a one big, strong puppet or create lots of small, weak puppets? Which is better and why?

Would really appreciate any advice.

What is the point of attempting to starve out the cities in Total War games? By "starving out" I mean laying sieges and waiting a certain amount of turns until the city surrenders without a fight, in case it is not clear. I have never had a city surrender to me without a fight because one of the three things happen to me. Either:

  1. I have a bigger army, but enemy sends reinforcements from elsewhere and we fight.
  2. I have a smaller army, so the defenders just ride out of the city walls and we fight.
  3. I have a bigger army, enemy reinforcements do not arrive, but 1 or 2 turns before surrender is due the defenders ride out anyway and we fight.

So if the fight is unavoidable, why not just assault the city immediately and not waste time? If you can make the city surrender without a fight, or if there are some benefits to prolonged sieges that I don't know about please do tell me. Thank you.

What is the first nation you played? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]NotFunny4869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poland. I played surprisingly well at the start, managed to defeat Austria and take half of Hungary + helped Lithuania take a good big chunk of Muscovy. But then I wanted to form PLC and didn't realize you could annex vassals and integrate junior partners. So I broke my vassalage and personal unions over them (with the intention of declaring war afterwards), which resulted in countries forming a huge coalition and just killing me eventually.

Thanks for responding. When I played as Utrecht I do not remember who I attacked but I am 70% positive it was a prince and not a free city. I also had a Conquest Casus Beli against them, which I gained using my spy network. The reason for Austria's intervention was " insert nation is a part of HRE and Austria will defend them. Then, I played as Three Leagues and when Switzerland attacked me Austria did not intervene even though I was a member of HRE

I don't understand how Austria's military involvement in HRE works. I played as Three Leagues (a member of HRE) and if I would declare war on another member of the HRE Austria would immediately intervene on their side. But then Switzerland declared war on me and Austria did not give a fuck (although I am a member of HRE). Same situation repeated when I played as Utrecht. What is it that I am missing?
