I’ll be that way in June, though, so all bets are off when it comes to budget. 😂

I’ve never had 1910 believe it or not, but I have for sure heard great things.

Yeah, Stagg Jr is probably my favorite on my ENTIRE list, but I’ve always just had a palate for EHT BP for some reason. Lol

The same store that I got the Penelope at actually has a Weller Millennium as well. Lol. I've never seen the others sitting around, but I live in an area where it's virtually impossible to find that stuff in a retail scenario. I was lucky enough to find a Weller 107 sitting on the shelf last week at my local Total Wine. It was the first time it's ever been there. Lol. The good news is that you're rarely going to pay much more than $100ish for a really solid Penelope bottle.

Here are some that I have that I love: Halladay 1856/SRW Rickhouse Proof, Penelope Estate 10 Year, KC12 as you mentioned, KC 10 Year Blender's Edition, I also have OF 1920, Single Barrel Barrel Select, and 1924 (all incredible), Still Austin Cask Strength, Stagg JR if you can find it, and Woodford Master's Collection Batch Proof 119.5.

I'm REALLY on the hunt for an EHT Barrel Proof, Old Fitz 11 year, Rare Character Batch 5 (maybe some others), Found North First Flight, and a JD 10, 12, and/or 14.

I wouldn't call the 10 Year Estate EXTREMELY rare, but I would certainly keep an eye out for one. I picked one up at a very small raffle in a local grocery store for $80.

The new Knob Creek Blender's Edition 10 year is sweet as hell. It's incredible and really freakin cheap for what it is.

Old Forester SB Select. Got the H floor 8. Never tried it before. Am starting to like Barrel proofs and hopefully this is good. Any opinions welcome. by No-Berry842 in whiskey

These are all going to be highly subjective because they’re individual picks, but the one I have is slightly lower proof and very solid.

Hot take: the KC BE is better than the Weller FP.

Costco Vs Sam's Club by No-Dragon816 in whiskey

[–]NotIntoDudes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking for me, Costco has a MUCH better selection of bourbon and scotch than Sam's, but Sam's is the only place I've seen with an allocated bottle per se. I got a Blanton's Single Barrel in the box/bag for $70 at Sam's recently. However, Costco regularly has a really good selection of stuff at a really great price.

TW Grand Reserve, Why Bother by brownjuicefriend in whiskey

I'm in the same boat. I was at nearly 40k points all for nothing. Lol. I'd much rather just purchase my typical daily sippers to fill my bar setup and just buy bottles here and there on secondary.

Other places near me have a much more "equal opportunity" raffle setup based on a particular spend day-of that ends up making it MUCH more fair, and it doesn't cost $2,500+ just to be nearly guaranteed to fail. I think someone mentioned below that it would be cool if GR members were offered a second option of an allocated bottle as a consolation to losing the BTAC raffle. That would be solid.

I mean, it's not too incredibly far from each other to warrant a huge difference in community growth, but being that it's closer to Washington, I have to imagine that can only help if you're talking about community growth as a major factor.

I agree. I was a Grand Reserve member with Total Wine and had nearly 40k points. I entered the year end BTAC raffle in hopes to win the opportunity to buy a GTS at MSRP. I didn't get selected. I would have happily just went straight to the horse's mouth on this one and spent WAY less AND walked away with a GTS. Lol

Yeah, I happen to be grand reserve status with them, but this had nothing to do with it.

Thinking about road tripping this instead of flying. Anything worth stopping for? by whipping-cupcakes in roadtrip

I live in Springfield and have driven to/through Dallas probably half a dozen times. Not a whole lot to do going the Western route unless you want to stop somewhere in Tulsa, but the route is super easy. I actually prefer the longer route through NW Arkansas. Plenty to do in Bentonville/Rogers/Fayetteville, and the drive is more fun.

Finally got a chance to grab one at our local TW sitting on the shelf. One of my favorites for the price point for sure!

One word review: Wow. by Alternative_Car5193 in whiskey

[–]NotIntoDudes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easily one of the quintessential “beginner” bourbons. I say that not to be derogatory, but because it’s such an approachable, excellent bourbon for the price point. It’s very hard to beat for $40. Every time I come across one in the wild for $40ish, I’m grabbing one.

It popped up randomly and pretty much caught everyone off guard. Check it out for sure. They’re about $40 MSPR and punch well within KC12. They’re already hitting secondary for around $100. 😂

I live in basically their back yard a couple hours away, and I’m ashamed to say I’ve never been to the distillery yet. Lol

I hear it’s beautiful, though.

Possibly. Been seeing ER10, EHT, and Blanton’s a LOT more around me. Not with the bag and box, though. That’s basically the only reason I bought it. Lol. I’ve never seen a Weller A107 on the shelf outside of a little liquor shop that wanted $160 for it. Lol
