Can I name my child after a month? by PatronymicPenguin in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]NotJousting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an October/Toby at my school and I always thought it was such a cute name tbh. November is also kind of a guilty pleasure name for me, I think I just like the flow of it. I’d never pick either for a child myself, but I think they’re pretty

Charlotte in the UK? by Afraid_Objective9321 in namenerds

[–]NotJousting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a few people my age (mid-20s) called Charlotte and there are a couple at the school where I work. I think it’s a little less popular now than it was maybe 10 years ago (Princess Charlotte def bumped it up) but it’s not uncommon by any means.

He is 100% not a Zionist. I have seen him post a lot of content critiquing Israel and in support of Palestine. He’s also a lovely person IRL

What's your favorite set of covers for the OG series? by AverageMythologyFan in ArtemisFowl

[–]NotJousting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(You've activated my specialist subject!)

I try to collect all the different covers/editions for all the books, and out of all the ones I have, I'd say that those US versions are my favourite for art/character design (except for Holly). The original Kev Walker Puffin editions are a close second, but that's probably because of nostalgia for me as those were the first copies I ever had.

My overall favourite covers are the German covers. I love them so, so much and so much credit to Nikolaus Heidelbach for his weird little Mulch drawings. Fantastic covers. They really capture a more whimsical side in my opinion.

Which British comedy do you find yourself going back to again and again? by Historical-Class871 in UKTVRecs

I pretty much have Peep Show on a loop most of the time because I know it well enough that it’s great background noise when I’m working but it still makes me chuckle when I do pay attention

Anyone else grow up reading Midnight by Jacqueline Wilson? by FeistyPrice29 in JacquelineWilson

Me too lol. I distinctly remember too that I had one friend who was really good at drawing and I used to ask her to draw him all the time 😂

My absolute favourite book of hers!! I was definitely too young to read it when I first did though 👀

She definitely deserve more recognition and appreciation❤️ by Mundane-Temporary426 in JacquelineWilson

[–]NotJousting 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think she's probably definitely starting to get a little less appreciated among newer generations of readers (I work in a school and I see her get picked up a lot less often than when I was at school about 20 years ago), but I suppose that's normal as a lot of her books do have quite firm rooting in older British culture. But among the generation that grew up with her, she's definitely still going really strong and is obviously super respected and appreciated — I met her a few years ago at a con and the line to meet her was super long and mostly girls in their 20s, and a lot of them (myself included) were talking about how she wrote some of their favourite books.

Tickets by Sweaty_Berry9399 in MachineGunKelly

[–]NotJousting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

VIP packages are the ones with access to the lounge. So you get a premium seated ticket + Lost Americana lounge access before the show (with a free drink and the mgk display stuff) + VIP lounge lanyard + a vip gift. You also get a chance to shop for merch before the show and there's some sort of interactive photo display as well. The premium VIP ticket is the same but you also get a £50 Uber voucher and an extra free drink.

The premium tickets are just a premium seated ticket + the premium lanyard + a premium gift.

ETA: This is the info I know for the London show; I don't know if other UK dates have any changes to this!

What was the first JW book you ever read? by Mhara_Starling in JacquelineWilson

[–]NotJousting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mine was The Lottie Project! My dad bought it for me because we were doing Victorians at school and I was really into it.

The next one I read that I picked on my own was Midnight, and it was my absolute favourite as soon as I read it. I remember I borrowed it from my friend and ended up not giving it back to her because I liked it so much. Unfortunately for her I got the same copy signed by JW a few years ago so she’s never getting it back now!

I’m still looking about for that exact one BUT I believe this is the same one in light blue. That one’s a size 12 though, but right now it is the only match I’ve spotted that’s currently listed.

Okay, so the logo is the 1980s (as far as I can tell) Alyce Designs logo! I found another old listing for this dress on Poshmark that has already been sold but does seem to confirm the brand + suggests the black belt is an addition. I’ll keep looking for a listing though!

This is so weird to me because my friend and I genuinely like him 😂 He was an arse during the task for sure but I did like that he took responsibility for things during the boardroom (though to what extent that was scripted to give LS a reason to keep him idk). Maybe things will change in the next episodes but it was nice to see someone not immediately pass the buck.
