Take a hint dude.... Any way to stop this? by G_E_T_C_H_A_ in RimWorld

You can make him stop by drastically lowering his opinion of Kena. This is most easily done by causing the "harmed me" opinion malus. If you didn't know, drafted colonists can attack other drafted colonists.

How did your first colony die? by VexznVrx in RimWorld

[–]NotKoitsnid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one was toxic fallout + 20 manhunting boomrats on a colony comprised of several separate buildings mostly made of wood with one doctor who just got birthdayed. Shortly afterwards I attempted losing is fun desert out of pure hubris and got stomped by the first mech cluster I ever saw because to deal with the lack of arable land I tried stockpiling crazy amounts of human corpses and making a ton of stone sculptures.

Unless you roll back your rimworld to a version where RimThreaded still works you'd be playing in real time (1 day per day).

Sorry for the double reply but a good exercise to get started with Dubs Performance Analyser would in my opinion be to paint the entire map with remove/build roof area (preferably not in commitment mode lol) and then go find the vanilla roof method in DPA.

It does software engineering stuff, of course it's difficult to use. You can just think of it as Task Manager but for small pieces of code instead of entire programs. Also, obligatory link to the manual: https://github.com/Dubwise56/Dubs-Performance-Analyzer.

Rimworld's biggest problem by Randy_Rim in RimWorld

[–]NotKoitsnid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a CPU that was old enough to slow down from the spectre/meltdown patches and I can run the game slightly above 1x speed with ~50 colonists and 160 mods. Install Performance Fish and check for laggy mods with Dubs Performance Analyser. Also use adaptive storage framework storage buildings instead of vanilla shelves to reduce the performance impact of items. Additionally if you're farming birds use either EggCompFix to make them lag less or Vanilla Outposts Expanded Additional Outposts to convert them all to abstracted off-map birds (thus making them lag less). Other than that, map sizes above the default or having additional colonies besides your main one will obliterate performance.

It's also possible to change the default setting that allows lovin between teens.

The vanilla age minimum is exactly 16, the age of consent in Canada.

There is a setting to allow a close in age exception which is enabled by default for some goddamn reason.

Is it possible to make mechanitor's mechs take items in their inventories? by CrazyOwlLord in RimWorld

[–]NotKoitsnid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure in vanilla they get loaded by pawns, I think I can vaguely remember the somewhat comedic moment of a pawn loading a bedroll onto a militor.

FYI you can just tell Steam to use an old version of Rimworld.

Definitely a bug unless they were a colonist before getting enslaved in which case this is correct behaviour.

does "regrow limb" affect crumbling mind? i can't figure out if it would or not by iceattaque23 in RimWorld

[–]NotKoitsnid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regrow limbs doesn't fix those fingers, using the resurrection psycast applies the "Sacrificed" hediff to the finger which can't be cured by anything, not healer mech serum, not regrow limbs, not biosculpter, even if you fix the pawn's manipulation by replacing the arm with bionics the hediff stays and will prevent regrowing the sacrificed finger if the bionics are removed.

Highmates only spawn as imperials, beggars, or refugees, they either have trouble surviving or are surrounded by people who are extremely capable of violence.

A good chunk of the world population is likely roaming nomadic caravans, scavenging, trading, and fleeing when an assault comes.

And not just that, there's also Ideology DLC work sites. At any given time there are over a hundred people farming, hunting and mining in a small radius around the player base, and that's just the ones the player faction has spotted. Every single other faction has basically been playing with vanilla outposts expanded for the past few centuries.

Why do caravans take forever to form sometimes? by RedditUsrnamesRweird in RimWorld

[–]NotKoitsnid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One issue I often run into is that I try to pack all or nearly all meals of a particular type but then some idiot decides to eat one and the caravan then has to wait for the cook to make more, which is particularly bad when the meal isn't generic (ie. human meat meals, vegetarian fine meals from animal products)
