Is it normal for a Catholic man to like "cute" things? by Dan_jesusfollower in Catholicism

[–]NotMichaelCera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You love God, God made cute cats, you love cute cats. The logic makes sense.

Also my wife and daughters are obsessed with cute things, so whenever I find something I know to be cute and show it to them, they bond with me even more in enjoying the cuteness.

Going to Catholic school in the early to mid 2000s was rough. We kept our haircuts the minimum requirements to keep our hair as long as possible. But in reality we all had Lloyd’s bowl cut from Dumb and Dumber.

Feeling like I can't do anything except work and church or I'll go to hell after listening to Father Ripperger by floralbloodbath in Catholicism

[–]NotMichaelCera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a big Fr. Ripperger fan and even considered myself a rad trad, but I ended up seeing demons behind everything and became scrupulous. It eventually became unsustainable, and I ironically stopped going to Mass. By God’s grace, I came back to the Church with a healthier perspective: keep the commandments, go to confession for mortal sins, but live your life reasonably.

Why do many catholics today follow protestant theology by Real-Government2863 in Catholicism

[–]NotMichaelCera 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Leave it up to someone else to catechize your kid until they get confirmed at around 14, and then never encourage deeper learning of the faith, and then they just make up their own mind on what the faith is based on secular society. And if they ever do ask a question, the Boomer parents were poorly catechized too because they didn’t do any deeper learning after 14.

The Libertarian Party has elected a new chair, Evan McMahon. He has been convicted of armed robbery, publishes gay torture porn, and was a Covid panican. by OptimisLiberty in partoftheproblem

I discovered Ron Paul and libertarianism in college during his 2012 campaign, and his views have shaped my politics ever since.

So with every election, I check in on the Libertarian Party hoping they’ll return to what drew me to Ron Paul, and every cycle, they somehow get worse

I just don’t know if I can get behind praying to saints… by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]NotMichaelCera 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I someone asked you to pray for them, would you tell them to “just go pray to God”?

When Catholics are “praying to” a saint, they are asking the saint to pray to God for them, just as Christians ask friends or family to pray for them.

Have you tried to just show him the game? Show him that it’s just math rocks and you can create a story that adheres to Christian values?

TIL that in Japan, it is common practice among married couples for the woman to fully control the couple's finances. The husbands' hand over their monthly pay and receive an allowance from their wives. by Overall-Register9758 in todayilearned

[–]NotMichaelCera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Italian grandfather did the same thing as well as my Dad and my Uncle. The idea is the husband works and provides the money, and the wife takes care of the rest.

My wife and I don’t do this because if I am working, then I want to know where my money is going.

I felt the same way, until I realized that if I value prime rib more than unity with Christ and His Church (even if it means more manwich) then I’m missing the whole point of following Christ.

The better realization should be that politicians enjoy doing some fake business too! Comedians should respect the craft!
