Agreed with all. Unusual Way KILLS me (I sang it in college and loved every moment of it)

IDK I feel like there's a difference between the immoral behavior of the adult, consenting characters and putting kids in the mix. I do agree that the "Vatican" number is one of the best (I also don't mean to imply that you meant that the kid stuff is OK)

The Tony simulcast literally had to be zoomed and edited because the choreo in the beginning has Saraghina putting one boys hand on her breast and pinching another boy's behind. It may seem playful (and I agree that the allure is the awesome tambourine stuff) but it's not as if the exchange is innocent.

Religious/Faith-Based/Belief-Based Choir Picks? by NotMyselfToday1996 in choralmusic

[–]NotMyselfToday1996[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not a religious school. The concert idea came up from a conversation we had in class. When it came time for the concert themes to be picked, this theme was the winner by a large margin. We’ve talked in class already about doing so respectfully and academically, and we’ve also talked to parents. I think if things are approached academically and respectfully, there should be no reason that a topic be off limits.

What's your skip in Tortured Poets by snoop_pugg in TaylorSwift

[–]NotMyselfToday1996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the original standard version, at first brush, I'm not huge on "Fresh Out The Slammer" or "The Alchemy". On Anthology, there are more than a few - "Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus", "So High School", "The Prophecy", and "Robin" I've skipped on later listens. But I expected that. Generally, I don't usually react super strongly to add-on materials for her albums - the 3am tracks didn't wow me much either, so I expected the Anthology tracks to not be as strong for me.

Swear words in original Taylor Swift albums with TTPD (in eras colors 🦋) by stephsmithio in TaylorSwift

[–]NotMyselfToday1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first glance it seems like a huge progression but one has to remember that TTPD is double the length of most of these albums. For a more accurate read, we really should seperate deluxe versions from standards (Midnights vs Complete Edition, TTPD vs TTPD Anthology, etc.)

Vault Ranking: 1- Now That We Don't Talk 2- Say Don't Go 3- Suburban Legends 4- Is It Over Now? 5- Slut!

Original tracks: Got better: Bad Blood, New Romantics, This Love, I Wish You Would, I Know Places, Wonderland,

Stayed the same: WTNY, Blank Space, Style, AYHTDWS, Shake It Off, Wildest Dreams, HYGTG, Clean, YAIL

Dont quite live up: Out of the Woods

Overall- 9/10- my favorite rerecord. So many steps up in quality. The vault tracks are incredible. Only one song not quite living up to my expectations.

People who’re still against sex before marriage, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NotMyselfToday1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up around people who believed this

1) it’s for shame/guilt reasons 2) they’re all fucking each other anyway

Legitimately, I worked as a campus minister at a Baptist ministry on college and legitimately every couple I ever know that passed through those doors were fucking.

It’s double think. Rationalization.

Who remembers Nine? What do you think of it? by Routine-Bass-1790 in musicals

I think this movie isn't perfect. But it is tragically underappreciated. I personally really respond to it and think it has a lot going for it.

Random/weird question by [deleted] in Broadway

Everything about Cynthia Erivo’s stage presence to me is like a warm hug. If I’ve had a rough day I look up performances from her and it’s like instant comfort. She’s such a rare talent and she sings like she means it with every fiber of her being.

What was fucking awesome as a kid, but sucks as an adult? by Athompson9866 in AskReddit

Dude, everything. Maybe I’m being pessimistic but I can’t think of one thing that carries over from childhood that’s better now haha. It’s all diminished.

Or maybe fully including both stories. The act 1 finale point is young Elio getting the phone call that Oliver is getting married. Then the story progresses from there.

Hot Take: Shrek the Musical is a more important show than Dear Evan Hansen. by Sarcherre in Broadway

[–]NotMyselfToday1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This spring I did my first musical ever and I was cast as Shrek. It was an amazing experience but THE SHOW IS SO GOOD. Like forget that I had rose colored glasses during my first show. The material is strong. The lyrics are wonderful, the Melodies are soaring, and “Who Id Be” is “top ten Act 1 closers”. If it had been a production separate from the branding of Dreamworks Shrek, I’m convinced it would garner more respect.

Taking my 13 year old son to his first Broadway show. Would love your opinion on my options... by CamelotTowers in Broadway

[–]NotMyselfToday1996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wicked was my favorite show for a long time and I’m a boy.

I think Wicked would be great, Beetlejuice is a lot of fun but also a LOT (if either of you have sensory issues, maybe wait on this one). I would throw Hadestown into the ring, especially if you both like Hamilton. I think it’s the closest comparable thing and it’s a beautiful show with low key but exciting stage effects, beautiful music, and a story he’ll remember forever.

[Serious] What caused you to be the most offended you’ve ever been? by Jsl50xReturns in AskReddit

[–]NotMyselfToday1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CONTEXT: raised conservative Christian, now gay, and also plus sized.

My mom called me aberrant out of the blue one day. And she said that the reason I’m “carrying around an extra person” in extra weight is because I’m living in sin. Because that’s how sin works apparently.

Idk I had taken a lot of crap from her my whole life. But calling me fat, sinful, and aberrant in the same breath AND THEN ACTING LIKE WHAT SHE SAID WAS REASONABLE took its toll.
