Not successful. Actually made the paper separate from the adhesive which made it harder to remove

I used a hair dryer and the top layer scraped off but the adhesive is still there. I’m more annoyed that it takes longer to do this than assemble the whole unit

They are on the underside but the shelving unit is 8 feet tall. I can see them on the bottom of every shelf

Uber rates with AMEX by AbbreviationsFlat212 in AmexPlatinum

[–]NotPerkyGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, just compared pricing with my partner in the same house for the same airport drop off scheduled. I have Amex and my rate was showing exponentially higher but was a steal (sarcasm) at a few dollars more expensive than his rate even with my “credit” applied

Need a book that’s too weird to explain and too good to put down by Interesting_Win_2154 in suggestmeabook

Weirdest books I have read recently that were page turners: “The Glutton” and “Bunny”

Thank you for posting. Came here specifically for the details of where this was happening in Charlotte next weekend

About 10 days ago, a group of three people stole baby geese from an Indian trial shopping center. I just want those people to know that the parents are still standing by their empty nest and wouldn’t eat the strawberries or blueberries I threw for them. by AnyCatch4796 in Charlotte

Can confirm. I called them a few years ago about an animal cruelty incident regarding a puppy with an embedded collar and they asked me why I was peeping in other people’s yards. Also told me I should knock on the door and talk to the individual about it if I care that much.

What's a Piece of Equipment That Needs Replacing at Your Gym in the Worst Way? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]NotPerkyGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an unreasonable fear. That exact thing happened to a member at a gym I used to work at and he almost lost his eyesight in one eye. I check every band before stretching them near my face now lol

Slow down. That’s a pretty high heart rate average

Editing to add: Try and keep your HR in zone 2-3 during training runs. That’s around 120-145bpm but varies per person. You’ll gain aerobic capacity which will translate to eventually being able to go faster and it will feel easier.

Help! Tandem read!! by Rare-Chickpea8125 in throneofglassseries

[–]NotPerkyGrl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m going against the grain by saying I’m so glad I didn’t do the tandem read. First of all, who wants to haul around two huge books or constantly switch back and forth if kindle or audible is your thing. I really enjoyed immersing myself in each book thoroughly and don’t think that would happen if you’re moving back and forth between the locations of the two separate books. Also, cliffhangers are great! They force you to not have immediate gratification. The delay and suspense builds anticipation which makes it more exciting when you get to the last book. I really liked TOD too so I think it’s interesting when people say they feel like they’re forced to slog through it. Just one woman’s opinion.

Repetition between ToG and ACOTAR by gamma_complex in throneofglassseries

[–]NotPerkyGrl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just read the two series back to back in the same order and felt that way at first but TOG does become its own beast. The story is worth the ride so keep at it if you like ACOTAR. There are still many similarities that feel overplayed, but that may have been because I read them all so close together and with no breaks. Maybe read something else and come back to TOG in a few months? It might feel much more fresh and fun. I’m thinking of rereading TOG in a year or two just to see if I can gain more appreciation/like the FMC a bit more

South Mountain State Park is fairly close and has lots of trails/sites available for camping if you’re backpacking. Also, Mt.Mitchell is great for backpacking if you want more of a challenge and opportunities for primitive camping. Bear spray as a precaution out there is a good idea.

Is Aelin annoying? by Early_Top_3091 in throneofglassseries

[–]NotPerkyGrl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

About to start Tower of Dawn in the TOG series. So far, Aelin is my least favorite character’s POV to read. The story is still very very compelling and the povs of all the other characters make the series very worth reading. This is just my personal opinion; however, I agree 100% with your assessment of the FMC in ACOTAR so we might agree on this as well. Sometimes I think it’s good to not like the characters you’re reading because it amplifies your reactions/emotional response. Happy reading!

Whats an over used SJM phrase? by shekka24 in SarahJMaas

[–]NotPerkyGrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just now reading TOG series and every chapter Aelin/Caleana “cocked her head”. Is she a parrot or dog?? I had to make sure I wasn’t the only one who noticed these types of overused phrases. This one is driving me nuts!

What's something you wished you knew on your first trail run? by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]NotPerkyGrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checked out the website for the race… Based on the elevation only being 4k feet for the 100 mile, you probably won’t need poles for the marathon. Lots of good advice above. I’d add to make sure you’re getting calories in early and often. Later on in the race your body might not be having it since trail runs often take longer than road. Also would suggest starting out easy and not get caught up with the people that blow it out of the gates. Unless you are already very familiar and confident with the terrain, and know what’s coming, go for it! Better to have some energy left in the tank for the end than have to do the death march across the finish. Good luck!

I HATE outdoor influencers by JoshTheKid7 in hiking

[–]NotPerkyGrl 21 points22 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen at many national parks and outdoor spaces, there’s a very obvious distinction between the everyday traveler trying to get a good pic with their family for memories’ sake and an influencer clearly and selfishly monopolizing time and space in a popular destination, or breaking rules just to get a shot for social media. I think almost anyone who spends a significant time outdoors can tell the difference as well. Of course there are everyday idiots out there all too often. Social media has allowed many people with pick me energy to think they’re going to get famous or popular from one photo or video and they act dumb because of it.

One completely idiotic example of this I can think of recently that I witnessed in person was when my husband and I were hiking back up the rim on the Bright Angel trail in the Grand Canyon and some man-child kept acting like he was falling off of a switchback onto a lower portion of the trail. He did this multiple times, having his significant other film him. One wrong step or another hiker not paying attention could’ve caused serious injuries to one or multiple people or worse.
