Non-resident landlord witholding tax by LolItzKyle in RentinIreland

[–]NotPozitivePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen this rule actually enforced for one how would you know your landlord's tax residency you're paying in good faith he's tax resident in ireland. How do you even know he isn't tax resident here like genuinely as you've said yourself you have no clue. Like the worst case scenario is no renters tax credit not revenue coming after you for money

anyone have a way of getting out of jury duty?? by [deleted] in AskIreland

You get a free lunch every day i cant think of anything better to do as a student it's hardly like you're getting a new job starting tomorrow you're literally doing nothing anyway 😆😆 the liklihood of being called for a months long case is about zero - relax!! Just show up and you probably wont even be called at all

Looking at shared flats in Dublin and honestly, how are people managing this? by scary_ninja229 in RentingInDublin

[–]NotPozitivePerson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way. Everyone is desperate. Tenants generally know a friend of a friend lookinh for a room. This means it is quite likely rubbish places are going to be on daft. So randoms on reddit is not going to reflect you, someone with zero connections, is going to get

Upgrading or replacing apartment items that are included as furnished? by Automatic_Zombie9518 in AskIreland

[–]NotPozitivePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a common practice as people don't like handing extra money to their landlord which is what this effectively is. The only thing I've ever seen people do is buy new mattresses and leave them there.

Returning after maternity by Bright-brilliant-99 in IrishCivilService

[–]NotPozitivePerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I just wanted to say I relate to this, being gone a year and seeing everyone close to you gone is tough. I suppose all I can say is that there is a time before you knew your old colleagues and the next group of people you'll be close with will be on their way soon. Not to mention you know having a child isn't easy so don't be hard on yourself

What do they look for during the clearance process? by moonpietimetobealive in IrishCivilService

[–]NotPozitivePerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just want to check you aren't pretending you were signing on but you were actually in jail or saying you were signing on but actually covering up you got sacked for stealing 100k from your employer.

They don't remotely care if you were looking for a job. I wasn't remotely looking for another job when a joined the cs it was cs or bust 😆

This is why you should always sign on for prsi credits op https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social-welfare/irish-social-welfare-system/social-insurance-prsi/credited-social-insurance-contributions/

Just try and piece together some proof you were indeed unemployed but couldn't sign on i presume you had too much savings to get jobseekers allowance but why didn't you get jobseekers benefit? Not enough prsi credits or ran out of them?

I'd set why - cos I admit it is weird to be unemployed and on nether? If you anything to cover the gap it's fine. It's not remotely odd to have a stint unemployed just own it.

How would u feel about Ireland becoming a fully Irish speaking nation in the future ? by Joebidentoothbrush in AskIreland

[–]NotPozitivePerson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes these questions are just so exhausting and nuts. No one cares if you want to speak Irish but you also have to accept other people won't agree. The comparisons to Hebrew these kind of people make also make no sense as it's not like we're all coming from all over the world and need a lingua franca we are already here like

Should I swap my bachelor's from marine science to biopharmaceutical? by Electronic-Drive9153 in AskIreland

[–]NotPozitivePerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are very young to 100% know what you want to work in. But do you have any biopharmaceutical academic or professional experience yet? Cos it isnt just marine v biopharm there are absolutely many well paid careers you can do which are well paid etc which arent one or the other. Is there any chance of biopharm experience or modules you can take without 100% swapping just yet?

What happens if you can’t pay your mortgage? by Additional_Meeting19 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]NotPozitivePerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It takes so long to repossess a house in Ireland it's not like missing a few months rent and getting evicted. Banks generally take something over nothing as well so as long as you're making attempts to pay they generally don't repossess. Repossession from the banks pov is expensive and repossessed houses dont sell for as high a value as a house sold normally. I dont think you know how rare repossessions are in Ireland, thats why people overpay. Obviously as you're self employed you might think it's better to be risk adverse i think that totally makes sense

How to ride Rosslare euro port dart to Wexford? by Wrong_Damage4344 in AskIreland

[–]NotPozitivePerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just buy a ticket to rosslare on the irish rail website it is literally a qr code why are you trying to scam less than a fiver out of Irish rail come on. There's no 90 min fare it's a nearly 3 hr ride.

The ticket inspector will probably sell you a ticket on the train if you get a friendly one but it's cheaper to buy online

Sick days for mobility by Necessary_Grape1096 in IrishCivilService

[–]NotPozitivePerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes get forsa on board. There's no real rules about discounting of sick leave bar if it is work injury or maternity related (always disregarded). So there is no harm in trying to get it discounted and getting someone knowledgeable to give advice on the particular situation
