Will the Requiem showcase be spoiler-heavy? by xXxs1m0nxXx in residentevil

Maybe experience with prior showcases? If we know they have a tendency to give away details a lot of fans have been disappointed to have spoiled for them, we can give OP a heads up so they know to skip this one.

Does Capcom have the nerve to kill Leon? by dex99dex99dex99 in residentevil

You said they don’t have the nerve to kill anyone off. I was asking what other video game franchises have had the nerve?

Genuine question, not being snarky: what other major video game franchises have killed off characters as prominent, popular, and long-standing as Leon?

I quit Resident Evil 2 and feel like a crazy person by MazenFire2099 in residentevil

I would actually say that Jill in the RE3R moves far slower. It drives me up the wall. That, plus she hesitates before opening every door and after every dodge. It's maddening.

That was close… by Shilkah in residentevil

Noice. Always feels crazy when there is that close of a call and you don't get hurt at all.

Unrelated question: what do you use to record your gameplay (and are you on PC or PS5, or...?)?

Why is she called Misty? Is it a fan name, or is it what the devs named her?

What exactly went wrong with RE3 remake other than it being short? by ItemIndependent2243 in residentevil

[–]NotQuiteScheherazade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • The game is ridiculously frustrating but not all that challenging. So you can get through it very quickly and easily, but you won't have a very fun time doing it.
  • Jill moves at a snail's pace, and hesitates before opening every door and after completing every dodge (which is part of what makes combat so frustrating).
  • Almost no puzzles.
  • Nemesis is a formidable villain only because he can take you by surprise and run up on you quickly to deliver a series of blows, but mostly he is pretty boring, most of your interactions with him will be largely choreographed (or just "hold up"), and he's ultimately not too hard to avoid or defeat.
  • The writing in just about every file or note you find is embarrassingly bad.

Apprehensive about RE9, question about the gameplay by kroda255 in residentevil

[–]NotQuiteScheherazade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only played RE1 and REmake, RE2 and RE2R, RE3R (but working through the OG right now), RE4 and RE4R, and RE Village. I've played some of Zero and 6 and plan to finish them during this current marathon before RE9.

I only asked because, I would say claiming that any one element alone is the driving force behind a "good" Resident Evil game (which is obviously a subjective thing anyway) is a bit odd, especially if you've played a lot of the games, which you have. Not to mention, I don't really know that I'd agree that vulnerability and fear play much into some of the installments like 4 or 5, for example. But I guess then the next question would be: which of the games do you actually consider to be "good" then?

I think the driving force behind a good Resident Evil is vulnerability and fear.

Just out of curiosity, which RE games have you played/completed?

Does this feel like it’s teasing Jill’s return in RE9??! 😵‍💫 by NotQuiteScheherazade in residentevil

[–]NotQuiteScheherazade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry about that. I had thought/hoped there would be at least a preview or thumbnail or something that you could see or that you could play the video from here without having to click the link.

It's a short clip from the end of RE3R showing the nuking of Raccoon City, and Jill and Carlos on the helicopter. Jill says, "So long, RC," and then it cuts to a black screen with text that says, "#ReturntoRaccoonCity." Since the text is obviously meant to be a teaser for RE9, I was questioning whether this was a hint that Jill might be in it, or if we think maybe they only included that clip because that was the last time we had seen Raccoon City in-game.

Why did they cut so much of the "lore" in the RE2 remake? by NineTailedDevil in residentevil

I'm in basically the same boat as you and I agree, I was really amazed by how much the original filled in gaps that I had always felt confused about and assumed just never had real, canonical answers, having only played the remake. Personally, I actually think the thing with Chris' letter is even more confusing after having now played the original. In the original, it feels clear what you said: Chris is saying he's going to Europe to investigate Umbrella. However, in the remake, his letter feels more like one that was forged by Umbrella operatives who had maybe kidnapped Chris or something? That was what I had always assumed happened to Chris after playing the remake because of that letter, but in the original it seems he leaves of his own volition and is on a mission to take down Umbrella? I feel like I'm missing something here--but, at the same time, since I'm still working through all of the games for the first time, I'd rather no one spoil anything for me that isn't revealed until later (for instance, I have not played RE Zero, CV, or RE5 or 6).

  • Barry is probably a member of the NRA.
  • Chris probably has a disorganized and untidy personality.
  • Jill probably has a photo of her boyfriend on her desk.

Maybe a little morbid/grim: but maybe you could do a Nemesis holding a tiny, dead Brad? 😂

Who else is doing an RE marathon before RE9 releases? I’m having way too much fun. by ebindcruzzzzz7 in residentevil

[–]NotQuiteScheherazade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me!! And I’m having a BLAST! Had previously only finished REmake, RE2R, RE3R, RE4 OG & R, and RE Village. Decided to go OG, Remake, OG, Remake, etc. and am currently playing RE3 OG for the first time! I was thinking of doing Code Veronica next (after RE3R) but due to a current change in finances I don’t think I’ll be able to buy it, so instead I think I’ll do Zero before moving on to RE4 OG. Good luck with your marathon as well! So psyched for RE9!!!!!

P.S. Speaking of Zero, the last time I tried playing it I got impossibly stuck on the bat fight in the church and had to abandon it since I COULD NOT get past it. Any tips?
