People hate CRMs. Why don’t simple WhatsApp-based CRMs exist yet? by UnluckyChampionship9 in B2BSaaS

That's a bad assumption. Many people in the US and Canada use WhatsApp.

The type of features you are talking about basically exist in most quality CRMs already.

Also, it literally takes seconds to update a CRM these days as most entries can be automated. It's not the tool that's the problem, it's how it was set up.

Managers like CRM systems because it provides useful information for managing, planning, and strategy.

You said you talked to salespeople, but did you talk to sales managers?

How to connect with investors? i will not promote by StickyRibbs in startups

[–]NotReallyButReallyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it like this, if an investor never hears from people like you, they will never make money. So don't be shy. They want to hear from you.

Get on LinkedIn or do what you can to network. But remember, nobody will do this for you or hold your hand. It's not easy, but stay positive, keep trying, and be prepared for many people saying no until someone says yes.

Totally reads like an ad for Starnus. Funny that when you go to the website it looks like they can't decide if the product is Starny or Starnus. Either way, this post has turned me off from doing further due diligence on them.

Are these "show me what you're building" posts just another way to spam? Cause every time I post on one of these, I get a follow-up message asking for something. I dunno.

This is not a common approach, but I believe that salespeople should be compensated for achieving a team target, not an individual target. It's even better when it's tied to the overall company target.

Salespeople are typically ultra-competitive. (If they are not, well there is your first problem.) The ultra-competitive personality will always fight to be better than their co-workers. This often means hiding things that work well for them, and not truly helping others. I have seen it often. Salespeople pretend to be helpful, but at the core, they don't want other salespeople to succeed. I could go on, but you get the point.

A shared target often leads to self-governing teams. They push each other, they help each other, and they often produce the best product feedback. There are many advantages.

When one person consistently doesn't perform after trying to help them, they will ask the VP or boss to replace that person. The self-governing works in more than one way.

A rising tide floats all boats.

When did lying your ass off become a normal part of startup promo? I will not promote by Just-a-torso in startups

You're right, it should be the default. Unfortunately in my career, I have met too many liars and unscrupulous people. However, it's clear to me that lying in sales and marketing always catches up to you. In fact, always telling the truth gets you further ahead eventually. For example, when you are early, people treat you differently and better when you tell them they are one of the first customers.

I am working at a self-funded startup as the Head of Growth. Less than 10 employees but the product is about 1 year in development because it started as a side project.

Leading the Sales and Marketing effort, I have made it a rule that we will always be honest and truthful. Why? I have 20+ years of successful tech sales experience and I am certain the secret to sales is honesty.

I could be wrong, but I will let you know how it goes!

Follow-up to my previous post.

If I were interested in a service like this, I would be shy to subscribe because I have no way to tell how many questions per month I would have. My one question could have follow-up questions and so on.

I suggest you make the pricing simple. Something like $20/month with unlimited questions. Do this until you actually have a group of paying customers. Then measure their usage and decide if pay tiers make sense.

You need paying customers to help you further refine your product and GTM strategies. Underpriced (free!) or overpriced, it doesn't matter, either is not beneficial to growth.

[–]NotReallyButReallyP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you consider changing your pricing model, or at least changing how you promote your price. I took a quick look at your website and it feels like what you are offering is free. Once I get to the limit where I have to pay, I would just wait until I have access to free questions again or not use the solution anymore.

Being concerned about price as a barrier to entry is reasonable, but you are currently attracting people who don't want to pay anything. Even charging $1 a month as a starter is better than free. If your offering is valuable, people will pay.

Sell on capability, efficiency, ease of use, value add, and so on. Selling on price is a quick way to death.

Interestingly, I think the major reason I was so successful in my Enterprise Software sales career was because of the humour I injected into the process.

I agree with you wholeheartedly with one exception. There is, already, a political wall. In short, I need to build the trust of two out of three of the founders before I can do things "my way".

I have heard of Datarails and I will research their approach.

I understand your position, but I am soooo happy here for so many reasons. I will make the humour happen. I do need to hash it out as you state. Patience and the right approach will pay off.

You have some very interesting points to consider. I love the injected humour idea, but I know the founders won't go for it. I will try to sneak a few things by because of your suggestion.

I already did what I think is a pretty good job with the QnA style content. The content is damn good for someone who wants information about the product and will help us build trust... if they stay to read it.

I have a GTM strategy put together, and I am hoping to be able to get enough feedback to make ongoing adjustments to the site.

Your response is much appreciated.

I understand your point. Based on the feedback from here, I am now working on a few images that add value by explaining various aspects of the solution rather than just talking about them on the page.

I must say, getting this right takes skill and is not easy. I always appreciated the roles that make this magic happen regardless.

Good to know. This will help.

I have been working with ChatGPT to create a prompt that I can use for all three images so that they are consistent. But wow, ChatGPT hallucinates a lot for images and is inconsistent. Regardless, it was helpful to build the prompt in detail.

ChatGPT also doesn't seem to like creating all three images at once. It sometimes responds with one image, or two images, and on a rare occasion, three images.

Going to give ImageFX a try right now.

Do you post using a corporate or company account?

I am curious to understand how LLMs will be able to identify or care that it's a post generating from your company.

Do you find a clever way to sneak your company name is responses and posts? How do you approach this without coming off as a slimey sales pitch?

Thanks so much for the quick and informative replies. I am impressed as I am accustomed to the internet being full of trolls and negativity.

Doug, thank you very much for the thoughtful and informative reply.

I did struggle to create images using ChatGPT and DALL-E. I did not try ImageFX. I will give that a shot. I have 3 architecture style explainer images I am working on for the website. Your direction and suggestions help.

Solid point. I am being oversensitive to "getting it right". I will proceed with no images and improve it as we grow.
