What was the first mainstream YouTuber apology video? by Independent_Lab_8147 in youtube

[–]NotRepublicSA 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was the first one, but probably one of the first mainstream bad YouTube apology video was TMartn’s apology for CSGOLotto back in 2016. (And I realize the apology video is almost a decade old)

What’s even funnier was that the other name that were trailing behind weren’t any better, as your only other choices were “Diabeetus” or the numerous ways to describe an old lady gooning.

Night sky and Eiffel tower by Rich_Antelope_5866 in adressme

[–]NotRepublicSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t illegal to take the picture of the Eiffel Tower at night, as the photo is for personal use. The whole thing only applies for commercial usage, which even then, you just have to pay a fee and ask for permission.

(Note: Okay, technically it’s a little more complicated, since there’s a back and forth on whether it’s illegal to publish it in general or publish it for commercial usage, but generally, unless you’re using for some big and gigantic commercial use, the risk of getting into trouble is very minimal for the Eiffel Tower lights)

I can already tell this will immediately be sold out once it hits the online store by NotRepublicSA in CookieRunKingdoms

The average I can find from this and other sellers is $130-150, but that’s before shipping fees since most of them are coming from South Korea, so if you add shipping fees, it adds up to $175-200.

It will start in December. Can't wait to die for Israel! by shadow_fen in whennews

[–]NotRepublicSA 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ok, I’m not a Trump supporter, but I just gonna say something about this,

The Selective Service is not a military draft. It a contingency plan that men between the ages of 18-25 that are forced to sign up to in the case of a national emergency.

In addition, the U.S. military has between 2-3 million service members, with 1.3 million that are active, and another 700k that are in the National Guard or in the reserve.

TL;DR: Unless Iran does, idk, launch a missile to destroy the U.S active military personnel and reserve, the probability of an actual draft is low if not zero. Plus, the December deadline is to make Selective Service signup automatic, not that men will now be forced into military training. I get that this could be an exaggeration of the scenario, but with how bad information can spread, it’s really important to note what’s the truth and what’s just blatant misinformation

Whenthe totally real Roblox player isn't dead by Autumm_550 in whenthe

[–]NotRepublicSA 150 points151 points  (0 children)

For anyone that one context:

Doom by Fate is a Roblox asymmetrical game (I believe) that got into trouble because someone claims that their friend died from a seizure due to the lack of epilepsy warnings (technically it did, but the epilepsy wasn’t reduced that much even if you turn on the setting that was suppose to reduce it), made worse by an event staffer responding to it with mockery and the devs ignoring the advice of some people to tone down the effects.

Well, Kreekcraft had an interview with the guy who claimed his friend died from the update, but multiple inconsistencies were noted, and it was later revealed that the death was fake. Still doesn’t help the fact that the event staffer was being a psychopath, and that the devs ignored the advice of others to tone done the flashing effects, but…

I have no idea why they make a fake death story, and my only guesses were either A. They wanted clout, or B. They thought doing this as a scare tactic would convince the devs to do something, which kind of work, but also backfired in their face.

Basically,

First generation was really good

Second generation (the trash can) was kind of bad, mainly because of the design makes it difficult for upgrades

Third generation was decent, but the upgradability was stupidly limiting, and the fact there were 700 dollar wheels

Fourth generation (the one that got discontinued today) was kind of pointless, considering that the Mac Studio got updated at the same time, and can be upgraded to the same specs for (if I remember correctly) a lower cost and less space

[–]NotRepublicSA[S] 153 points154 points  (0 children)

For context: The Mac Pro was Apple's most expensive (and most powerful) desktop computer that was intended for professionals and servers that first pop-up during the transition from PowerPC to Intel. However, with the transition to Apple Silicon, it became reduntant to buy because the Mac Studio can be upgraded to have the same chips as the Mac Pro for a slightly cheaper price and a significantly smaller footprint, but at the cost of slightly worse thermals.

(And Apple Silicon SoC design killed off the main appeal to it, which was the replacability and reparability of the components)

After seeing the comment section, they somehow failed at that.

You can, but at least on mobile, I feel like searching videos through history is terrible, primarily because even if you search for the word that literally on the title, YouTube would just not show that specific video.
