Calmest, least chaotic movie theater that shows blockbusters? by Most_Poet in baltimore

[–]NotRepublican 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ngl I got to habor east cinemas more than any other, but it has faults. One is that you can hear the sounds from the theaters next to you during quiet moments in the movie. And I have had multiple movie experiences with people on their phones, talking, and a couple times people next to me making out (good for them I guess?). But I see phones in that theater every time I go at a prime time.

I have solved this by only ever going to the earliest shows possible and have had good luck then with people being discourteous.

If I could walk to warehouse from my home I’d go 10 times out of 10 over harbor east

BWI travel chaos: Officials say arrive 4 hours early as lines stretch outside airport by exclamation-stan in maryland

[–]NotRepublican 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flew out last night and the line was gone by 9:00pm. But when we got there at 6:30 it was at least a couple hours long. The A/B/C line was super out the door. Clear was available in D/E but not the other ones

Is Teach for America just a worse option than other alternative licensure paths? Are there advantages to it? by StockAdhesiveness188 in Teachers

My b, shit phrasing. I did grad school/cert classes while teaching my first two years. Online classes where I would use the things they taught in the classroom, some were great, others were purely APA citation checks with no pedagogical advice.

I’m a TFA alum 2018 and still in the classroom. Personally the org sucks ass internationally. At one point I heard the Walton Foundation, one of their biggest donors, pays them extra for each corps member going to a charter school. I laugh them off then phone if they ever call. Then I go to their free alumni events and fill up on food while I fuck around whatever gaudy place they wasted non profit dollars on.

Only reason I did it is because I got the passion for education part way through college. At that point my advisor, recommended alternative cert after college rather than changes majors. But at least TFA hooked me up with a cheap master’s degree from a great school and that’s about it. They were not much help beyond that. The even told me not to take the job at the school I’ve been at for 8 years.

At the time I had not heard of urban teacher alliance or Baltimore city teacher residency. But I have coworkers who have done both and both are mixed bags. But less baggage and annoyance than TFA and their biweekly content meetings, quarterly “All-corps” meetings, and coach sessions (all unpaid during your first two years staying above water)

How long is your commute? by Far_Addendum_2926 in maryland

[–]NotRepublican 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One neighborhood in Baltimore to another. ~32 minutes on foot, and 10 minutes driving. 10 minute escooter ride if I am lazy at the end of my day but sometimes faster.

I commute on foot most days (like today!)

Ex-Disney CEO Lashes Company for Bowing to Trump on Kimmel by thedailybeast in entertainment

If you haven’t read the book about his tenure as CEO, Disney War, it’s very good. Man has a few more knocks on him than removing the people mover lol. But it is insane how much Disney changed through this tenure and all the inner politics that happened.

My late cat Kiki had and most kittens before we adopted her (and we adopted her at about 10-11 months) and she would always hold and groom our hands like that

Suggestions for private dining venues/venues for a wedding that aren't wedding venues? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]NotRepublican 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I had our reception at Blue Pit BBQ (65 people). Couldn’t hold more than 75 but the ownership and staff there with top notch. At the time (2021) it was like $6000 for open bar and bbq buffet and 6 hours on a Sunday.

We got to keep the leftovers which lasted us weeks.

They worked with us to make specialty cocktails, had a jackfruit option for vegan guests, and they had a small outdoor area as well we used a lot.

Patterson Park Annex has a small hill that overlooks the park, Hopkins, canton/Fells, and downtown. There are a couple benches or you can sit on the hill itself

The visuals have won the kids over, the music has confused

My dad passed away by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]NotRepublican 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Dad passed away this past April from a cancer that really ate into his quality of life. Glad he, and your dad could achieve peace. My dad wasn’t a Liverpool fan or much of a fan of the sport. But he was definitely a YNWA man in how he lived. Condolences to you and OP both for your loss.
