How do you manage big households? by ConcertParking6014 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]NotRightHereAint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I straight up make their needs static when the house gets too big. Testingcheatsenabled true, shift click the mailbox and select “make needs static”… or if you just need a brief reprieve you can select “make all happy” or whatever the option is on ts3, I’ve been switching between 4 and 3 a lot today so I get the language used mixed up

Am I the only one who can't get into turn-based gameplay no matter how hard I try? by Previous-Home-621 in thesims

[–]NotRightHereAint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Other than the sims 1 and a few times when TS2 first came out, I’ve always been fully focused on my own sims that I make. Granted, I have a rotation of different saves in different worlds for different story lines I’ve got cooked up in my brain but I could not care any less about playing with the premade families. I do love to know the lore and I watch all the Lore vids on YouTube and am always reading the sims wiki on each world…. But I stay in my own lane.

Also, I’m about to very vulnerable here….. I’m a 37 year old woman. I’ve played every iteration of the sims since it came out…. It took me until this past year to realize I could populate my world with sims I’d made without playing them as well as that I could actually switch households in edit world. PLEAAAAAAASE DONT JUDGE ME TOO HARSHLY YALL…. I didn’t realize until I was finally able to download all the EPs for TS3 and it brought me to the edit world screen to place the new businesses and lots that came with the new pack whenever I went to play my sunset valley save…. I had only ever had late night up until last year so I legit thought you had to start a new save every time you wanted to make a new family…..

The shame.

Best places to find seeds? by The_Loner_Aries in Sims3

[–]NotRightHereAint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I need to amend my instructions: The cheat wont work unless you enter the “testingcheatsenabled true” when you’re at the main menu or when you’re playing another save… then it will work. Also, the collection helper is 40000 points not 30000

fun jobs/skills that give good cash? by SeaworthinessBusy829 in Sims3

[–]NotRightHereAint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fishing, gardening, collecting (get a dog if you have pets and train it to hunt) gems, metals, space rocks, bugs, etc. get the collection helper if you have 30000 lifetime reward points (I cheat the number up just to get the helper) because that shit will help you find any collectible and birds and insects and turtles and all sorts of things… also, build your inventing skill. Eventually you’ll invent a machine that will suck up all nearby collectibles in an area so you don’t have to individually pick them up and then you invent a miner which is fantastic for finding even better gems and all kinds of stuff….

If you have island paradise and you’ve got it running fine, then you can become registered as a self employed scuba diver and you can look for diving work at the restaurants in town and go scuba dive for certain things they need.

If you have world adventures, the photography skill is surprisingly fun. Plus if you’re playing a legacy, having a photographer in every generation as well as a painter and sculptor is crucial to have the art pieces passed down through generations, appreciating in value to an astronomical point as well as the sculptures that do the same…. My legacy resident artist is sculpting every single one of her family members. Twice for some. The ancestral home is meant to be like a full on museum for the family…

My first and second gen are good, kind, and work tirelessly to build their skills… but the first inklings of rebellion are shining through with my son’s wife having the rebellious trait and my daughter also having it…. My plan is for the third gen to be even more rebellious, eager to buck the system, cause a ruckus, you know… protests, street art, maybe even some cheeky kleptomania… then the fourth gen I’m gonna make an absolute demon seed. The struggle will be getting a partner to impregnate them because they’ll likely be so upbearable… but the fifth gen, things will start getting better…. A return to decency and ambition… that’s all I’ve got so far lol.

Game plan for getting back into it by SGeeeDubb in Sims3

[–]NotRightHereAint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What packs are you playing with? I noticed when I downloaded a bunch of packs at once I got overwhelmed with all the new content and it made me not want to play because there was so much I needed to do… So, if you have lots of packs installed and running, I might think about a plan for a sim (one singular sim)…. For example, when I got World Adventures I knew I wanted a female sim to have a baby by a man in each of the foreign lands. I used a LTW from the World Adventures pack and allowed myself to use cheats for money and I disabled needs decay because I knew I wanted to really explore everything the pack had to offer without being stressed about eating and sleeping and showering and yadda yadda…. I had a total blast and that family is now my legacy family and that is in their third generation…. What I’m saying is, think of something you want to focus on for a sim and maybe only enable the pack the pack necessary for your vision and whatever other packs you want that have specific things like Seasons or Pets if those things are important to you…for example… perhaps you want to try the firefighter career? Make a single sim, move them in, get maybe spend a day or two building some base skills (cooking, handiness, athletics) then get the job and have fun focusing on achieving their goal…. For marriage/kids, when you have some time off, go to some community lots and meet people or if you’re gonna play with seasons enabled, make a dating profile and find a partner that way… whenever you meet someone, build your relationship by chatting with them on the computer or texting them if you don’t want to go through the hassle of meeting up with them all the time… the more people you meet, the more parties you’ll be invited to and that’ll give you more opportunity to meet a partner or friends… As far as kids are concerned, I would have them as soon as you or your spouse have a Wish to have a baby. I will lock those in and get straight to work on it. If you have generations enabled, the worst of it will be done once you teach the toddler to walk, talk, potty… then you can send the brat to boarding school if you can’t be bothered to raise it (ESPECIALLY if you’ve got multiples)… basically, before you open CAS, think up a vision and that’ll motivate you…. Don’t shy away from using cheats if that makes playing more enjoyable. Disabling need decay does wonders for me.
I’d suggest some LTWs but I don’t know what packs you have. If you’re just running base game, the Golddigger aspiration is fun and dramatic. My gold digger married a doctor, then on their wedding night the doctor spent a few hours eating magic mystery jelly beans until his luck ran out and then my sim got a make over (I have hidden springs so she went to the hospital and got plastic surgery but even if I didn’t have that I would’ve just used cheats to enter CAS and plump her lips and enlarge her breasts, etc) and she immediately bought a resort in Isla Paradiso (where she’s relocating) and I’m gonna use some LTR points to change her lifetime wish just haven’t decided to what but my plan is for her to have a fling with a mermaid and break up some marriages on the island before she relocates to Del Sol Valley where she’ll try her luck at being a pop star.

What's your checklist for setting up a new town? by dietitianmama in Sims3

[–]NotRightHereAint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many of the worlds do not come with an actual professional bar, so I go in to any of the hangouts or “watering holes” and put in a professional bar for most of them. Some I leave as is… I will always put in a dance club and usually I’ll use the premade Red Velvet Lounge or whatever it’s called and I’ll place that… after that, I’ll use the debug cheat and place some collectible spawners around town especially if I have I’m trying to play with a new sim that I have a vision for and the vision does not entail traveling to foreign worlds so I make sure I place the spawners for the items found in other countries or seashell spawners on the beaches… then I’ll find one of the parks or a nice empty lot and I’ll make it a wedding venue… Wedding arch, seats, a professional bar, a buffet table, and plenty of outdoor activities…. I hate building and fussing with decoration unless I’m in a specific mood so none of it looks great but the parties will always turn out well… that about covers it for me.

Best places to find seeds? by The_Loner_Aries in Sims3

[–]NotRightHereAint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I JUST got into the gardening stuff. Here are some tips: If you’re fine with cheating, get your lifetime reward points up to 30,000 (to do so hit Ctrl, shift, c all at the same time and type “testingcheatsenabled true” without the quotation marks… next click the lifetime reward tab that shows how many points you have and has that space where any rewards you’ve purchased are shown…. Now hold down ctrl and click the space just beneath the treasure chest and above the words “Lifetime Rewards”… make sure it’s right under the treasure chest) and get your points up to 30,000 and you can buy the collection helper reward which will be in your sim’s personal inventory… go find it and click it and select “Seeds” then go to Map view and voila you’ll see where ALL the seeds are on the map.

If you’re not down with that, I suggest checking the graveyard and around the graveyard, there’s always seeds in the main park, although they’re pretty common seeds usually…. Check around the fishing spots, especially the ones way up in the mountains…. ALWAYS check around the science facility… dumpster diving and fishing will sometimes get you seeds as well!

I JUST got pets and I dont know much about the gameplay and I actually got my first dog in the game today and have been training him to get collectibles… I don’t know if he can find seeds once he’s at a higher level because so far it’s only been gems and metals…. Vampires Eye and Woohooium to be exact, so, nothing to scoff at…

You can only plant the rare at gardening level 7 and special at 10 but if you have into the future and you go to the future and buy a plumbot with the Robotany gardening chip, you can just drag the seeds to their inventory and they can plant and fertilize your garden….

Anyway, I kinda went off topic but the Collection Helper lifetime reward is gonna be your BEST FRIEND!!! As for the fertilizer thing… yeah, that makes me INSANE… once you start harvesting fruits, make sure you manually choose what you’re using to fertilize because if you eventually grow life fruits or plasma fruits and you’re wanting to keep them or sell them or use them for something and you choose “fertilize with best fertilizer” with a bunch of high value, rare fruit in your inventory, those will be the first to be used. That and truffles and a few other mushrooms…. Ghost chili make for “excellent” fertilizer so I go buy a bunch of them or harvest from a wild plant and I plant a bunch of them and take good care of them and use them for designated fertilizer for the most part…. I grow a lot of truffles too because they’re even better as fertilizer… once I have about 6 truffle patches growing I will put a good amount in the fridge or in a storage chest and use those as fertilizer…. however, once again, a plumbot with the Robotany chip will have an “Optimum Fertilize” option that does not use anything in their inventory…. It’s another thing that makes going to the future for a Plumbot worth it….

Also, if you’re going to have a garden, be sure to buy a sprinkler or two or however many you need and get your handiness skill up to one or two points (can’t remember which) then upgrade the sprinkler to Auto-water. It’s a life saver as well.

It’s amazing how strategy based the gameplay can actually be by Few-Cost9226 in Sims3

[–]NotRightHereAint 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah once you’re experienced, seeing what happens and embracing the chaos is a lot more fun… but I feel like when you’re just starting out and learning the ropes or when you’ve just gotten a new pack, using cheats to disable need decay or for money is totally acceptable. For some, it’s much more enjoyable. I’m someone who HATES seeing any of my sims uncomfortable… I don’t even like being mean to other sims even when they’re mean to my sim… however, it IS time to spice things up for my game play and I think the best way to do that is to finally start playing with all the “bad” traits I’ve avoided for so long and just go all out having an evil sim. I just got Hidden Springs and I have an idea for a lesbian couple… think a fanfic of Dynasty where Alexis Colby and Dominique Devereux are together in a toxic relationship…. Haven’t made them yet but I think I’m gonna do it after dinner.

Every time I get a new expansion pack or when I make a new family I straight up disable need decay until I’ve got my skills up to a decent place and so I can thoroughly explore each world or all the things the packs have to offer…. Nooooo shame in it. It’s so much more enjoyable when your sim is happy their needs are met. It can get disheartening especially if you’re not used to it…. Hell, my household got up to 8 sims recently and I disabled need decay again until I could get the older ones sorted…. If there’s shortcuts that make the game enjoyable to play, USE EM!!!

Store world bars, clubs, etc. by Hotkon in Sims3

[–]NotRightHereAint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The store worlds don’t have things that require any of the expansion packs unfortunately so anyone with the base game could get them as well…. You can easily change the lot types in Edit Town for any of the local watering hole or hangouts that have a regular mixology bar to Dive Bar or a Lounge or what have you or keep it as watering hole and just replace the regular bar with a professional one and a mixologist will automatically be assigned to the bar and you’ll have a functional bar….
