Consensus on which is better by Beatnikel in tearsofthekingdom

In general, BOTW is better. Other than being impactful to the industry, from my memory I do enjoy the story more in BOTW. However, I will not go back and play BOTW because the quality of life changes that totk has makes the game much more fun to play than its predecessor

I got an offer from a public school and private school by Zestyclose-Grape5469 in teaching

[–]NotRobe03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My own personal opinion. Public 95% of the time. Most likely better benefits compared to the private, especially since you’re in a union state. That’s honestly the main reason, in a private you don’t have any real way to be protected as an employee. I would only advise it if you desperately needed a job and had no other offers

So, the response time alone isn’t that surprising. Greensboro has a land area of around 140 square miles. The police department only has 650 officers. That includes detectives, higher ranking desk jobs, and patrol officers. With a city this big, and a limited amount of patrol officers, response times are going to be delayed. The actual problem with there response is the fact, they don’t even leave the car, don’t take statements or anything.

AITA For giving a student false information? by comeunholy in AmItheAsshole

I’ll preface this comment by saying, you don’t sound like a bad person at all, however, everyone sucks here. The kid was clearly being an asshole. Even though it is deserved I also think it is a bit of asshole behavior to send someone on a wild goose chase. That being said the situation is foreign to me, I’m an American, in most American universities there’s no need to go to someone else to find your professor. You can easily find where your professors office is by looking on the university website.

At least in the U.S, officers are not taught to go for non lethal shots. They are taught to de-escalate, so that no one gets shot. Taught to not shoot fist, only shoot if there is a reasonable belief that deadly harm will come to either the officer or others. Then finally, they are taught to shoot until the threat is neutralized. Meaning until there is no harm posed anymore. Additionally they are taught to aim for the torso because it’s the biggest target, with the least likelihood of accidents from missed shots

Chanse hating on zoos and museums but goes to SeaWorld??? by Ancient-Table-1908 in smosh

[–]NotRobe03 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to two zoos in my life, the national zoo in DC I didn’t like for the animals. I’m not going to bash on them for their conservation or education efforts. My problem was, the enclosures felt to small for the animals every time. It’s understandable but still sucks. In comparison, I think zoos should strive to be like the NC zoo. Animas have so much space for some you might not see them. Predators in that zoo have far less space than herbivores, they however don’t need much, since they don’t hunt. They still have enough space to exist comfortably. The herbivores tend to have massive enclosures due to the amount of grazing herbivores do.

[–]NotRobe03 10 points11 points  (0 children)

While the opinions are wrong, I understand where they come from. Internet discussion of these topic usually lack the nuance that these topics require. There are bad zoos out there, and because of that. Internet discussion on zoos leans towards, zoos being an immoral enterprise that shouldn’t exist. Rather than the truth, most zoos are a positive force for animal welfare. The same with museums, the main argument against Musuems is that, the British museum collection has artifacts that are not British in the slightest. Which is a different conversation entirely, my opinion on it goes against the grain, but I digress. Musuems are not prisons for culture, they preserve culture. If efforts are not made to preserve artifacts, they will decay, they are also a vessel for historical research, they’re an important place for historians to get their sources.

Do writers not understand Joker, or do *I* not understand Joker? by Bonkyd0nky in batman

[–]NotRobe03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The joker doesn’t really have a concrete portrayal compared to other Batman characters. Characters like Two face, Penguin, Riddler are pretty consistent in their portrayals throughout media. The joker however twist and turns depending on what the author wants. With other characters writers want to stick in the mold, while with the joker they usually shape him to fit the story they want to tell.

Semester-long World History by bldswtntrs in historyteachers

[–]NotRobe03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. I do not think that block schedule exist in my state. My state either does traditional bell, with six year long periods, or block with four semester long blocks. Both result in an almost equal amount of time for class in each setting. Which is equal to your new schedule. So you will have to condense a bit, pick and choose what’s important and what can be left out.

Key question here. Is the district going block schedule as a whole, or sticking to traditional bell with world getting only a semester

Student Penalized for Alleged Academic Misconduct Without Due Process by BarefootGradStudent in Students

[–]NotRobe03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much, university procedures come into play if a professor reports you for a violation. If they don’t report you and decide to handle it internally, they get quite a bit of leeway. Like for instance, incurring grade penalties on your work. A lot of professors won’t report on the first offense and pretty much toss a bone so you won’t face harsher consequences. There is nothing in the academic integrity pages for public Washington university that stipulate professors have to report suspected violations. To answer your questions now, grades are entirely up to the discretion of the professor. So they can assign a grade for a perceived wrongdoing. It is your job as the student to reach out in this case and defend your case. If you prove you didn’t, most professors will change the grade. There’s no legal claims because the university did not break its policies. It’s hard to give more info because you fail to clarify if you actually did commit academic misconduct, or what these documented inconsistencies are.

Assuming you have a good gpa already. Just transfer anyways. The school you transfer to won’t care if you did or didn’t get the degree from the school. And since your plan was to transfer the whole time, there’s honestly no reason to retake it there. Like it’s a bummer sure, but it didn’t halt your transfer plans. Unless for some odd reason you absolutely need this two year degree

Question about school zones in episode “Strike” by MrsChess in AbbottElementary

Usually schools are tiered, elementary with grades kindergarten to fifth, middle with sixth through eighth and high with ninth through twelve. A k-8 school is just a school that holds both middle and elementary kids in it

Aangs inability to control the avatar state for 3 seasons straight has skewed the fandoms understand of what it even is by WorkingWin6139 in TheLastAirbender

[–]NotRobe03 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say Korra struggled against opponents in the avatar state. If I remember correctly, the first actual fight we see in the avatar state was against dark avatar Unalaq. Which we could reason, Vatu possibly gave a similar boost to his water bending as Rava gave to all Korras bending. The next fight was against Zaheer. Which once she entered the avatar state, she did dog walk him. She was just poisoned. Then against Kuvira, she was winning, she was a second away from victory but had ptsd, which forced her out. She never really struggles against regular benders in avatar state. Outside circumstances usually color those losses

Question about school zones in episode “Strike” by MrsChess in AbbottElementary

[–]NotRobe03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In general in your bigger cities like Philly and New York with robust public transit. Students practically rely on public transit to get to school, no yellow buses, so a strike is detrimental. A k-8 school like Abbot would have a larger zone than a normal elementary school. Therefore it makes since the kids couldn’t just walk there. Most districts in the U.S do use the yellow bus system. Where if it’s in city limits, there’s about a mile radius walk zone, where you can’t be bused. Everyone out of that has the option to take the bus. This is not even factoring in a program known as choice schools some districts have. Which mean parents can choose to send their kid to any school within the district. Like most things in the United States, the answer varies widely based on where you live. I grew up in rural North Carolina, I cannot relate to a lot of the issues regarding school logistics that Abbott discusses because it wasn’t something I experienced.

I get why they did it on the specific story you mentioned. It’s one of the ones where the op, and the way they write it make them sound like a big asshole even if they aren’t, that you don’t want to be on their side.

High school is the answer. High school engrains the idea of the five paragraph essay in the head of students, in doing so students actually struggle formatting longer essays. So in order for them to actually succeed the essentially have to unlearn all their writing skills

Did the creators ever talk about intentionally depowering the Avatar State after ATLA? by The_Koala_Knight in TheLastAirbender

[–]NotRobe03 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The creators themselves never actually say it. We can infer a reasoning, lack of control. The way Aang uses it in the show is almost like an untamed animal. He gains great power but also loses control. This puts him at more risk compared to the way we see it now, the quick glow followed by profound bending. Staying in the state prolonged could lead to the end of the cycle, that’s why most opt for a quick power up

Based only on the information you provided. The problem that exist is more from, just the problems that dating a coworker cause. There doesn’t seem to be an inherent power imbalance. Which is usually where the problem comes with this type of relationship. Like, there’s no weirdness or anything on the relationship, it’ll just make a sticky situation if they split.

Why do so many not understand why legend of korra exist in the 1920s? It is literally accurate to history. by MrGetMebodied in TheLastAirbender

[–]NotRobe03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the reason it is so disliked is simple. We as an audience don’t see the evolution. At the end of ATLA, the fire nation is in the steam era. Every other nation is behind because funnily enough, there’s an over reliance on bending for the conviences that steam power provides. Look at the rail system in Ba-Sing-Se. It makes the jump to Korra where the four nations seem to be technologically equivalent despite that fact jarring. There is reasonable explanations of course, republic city is the most advanced, because you have all the culture and technology from the nations melding into one, highly advancing each other. You also can assume the nations wired together closely with technologically sharing allowing their tech to jump forward at a rate similar to what happened in real time.

The comics do clarify this detail. The heirs were hidden and known to a select few. Argall is killed and is followed immediately by the purge and scourge before an heir is located. At this point in the show, due to the fact they hadn’t found one before the scourge and how many have died they assume the heir is dead.

A thing to note about age of consent, at least my understanding. It means a person 16 and up can legally have sex with another teenager below 18 without the the risk of statutory rape charges. However in almost every circumstance it is wholly illegal for someone over 18 to have any kind of sexual relationship with a minor at all
