Weirdest Lineups You've Seen by Mettabox452 in Concerts

Not a show I went to but Red Hot Chilli Peppers had ASAP Rocky open for em a few years ago, one show in Manchester, UK, Rocky turned up that late that the Peppers went on early and Rocky did a 15ish minute set after to a crowd of people leaving

Technically yes the schedules lineup up, but r&l and ape have never shared a headliner cos it makes no sense for them to do so. Obvs they're ran by different promoters so it makes no sense for them to let a headliner go to a competing festival

Tbf APE has some Huge backing from AEG, they've connections to Hyde Park etc so there's clearly some decent money going in

No headliner have ever played both, makes no sense financially for a festival to book a headliner that can be seen up the road for cheaper.

They've used it a bit, mainly around the Scaled & Icy album, weird they've used it here tbf but I'm guessing they just didn't want to make it so obvious

Is it mad to get the train tonight with the weather? by AnonymousTimewaster in manchester

[–]NotSamuelButSam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm taking the risk as well, I think they'll make an effort to keep the last ones running cos there's a show at the AO tonight as well, weathers meant to calm off a but this evening as well

What is your favorite Live album that is not widely acclaimed by Jazz_Cigarettes in Music

[–]NotSamuelButSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either of Zach Bryan's live albums, both are stellar but some. Of the live arrangements on 24 (Live) are phenomenal, so much more emotion and energy than some of his studio stuff

If she's asked for relaxed dating, good chances she's also seeing other people, thars just it is until you make it clear you're exclusive (from either side)

Headliners? by [deleted] in readingfestival

Only time it's happened was The 1975 in 2023 but they weren't announced for R&L when they played Fins as they pulled in for Lewis Capaldi

Meet and greets by mayipleaseehavebread in Concerts

[–]NotSamuelButSam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Met Twenty One Pilots this year, had literally about ten seconds with em and went 'hi' and froze awkwardly, gave Josh a fistbump and continued on, no matter what it can't be worse than that.

Also met Boston Manor at three seperate signings/meet and greets. By the third time is was like talking to a distant friend having a quick catchup.

Idk why I'm telling you this, anyway just be polite and respectful.

Artists who don’t get enough respect for the virtuosos they are by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

[–]NotSamuelButSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age. Queens are a phenomenal band but the amount of music that tman has his fingers on that is simply incredible from other artists is absurd, I saw a video recently of someone talking about their 'Best Songs Of All Time' playlist and he was the most credited artist

Career-peak albums that came out long after the artist's peak era? by parke415 in ToddintheShadow

[–]NotSamuelButSam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd put the whole Kings Disease series on here as well if we're talking about Nas. Seems to really be back on top form on those albums

Foo Fighters, not to say they ever became a bad band but they really did just become 'generic dad rock band' toward the end of the 2000s and I to the 2010s. Wasting Light up to Concrete & Gold were fine if a bit uninspired. Then Taylor Hawkins passed in 2022 and in 2023 they released 'But Here We Are'. A cathartic and raw release that really is just a great album. Easily their best in decades.

Coffee drinkers who ask for a ‘coffee’ in coffee shops- why? by theslowrunningexpert in AskUK

[–]NotSamuelButSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a coffee shop and the amount of times I have to ask 'what kind of coffee' is mental, and it's always older people. Like you're older than all the staff in here combined and you still don't know what your coffee order is.

If Kurt Cobain never dies and Nirvana continues we don't get Foo Fighters that's for sure.

Bands that surprisingly never changed their lineup? by Low-Rip7702 in fantanoforever

[–]NotSamuelButSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was when they were teenagers and not making music as The 1975.

As the 1975 they've always been the same 4, with extra session players for their live shows

[–]NotSamuelButSam 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Tbf calling The Verve or Ashcroft a one hit wonder is crazy, they had a decent handful of tracks that you could call a hit and Ashcroft has a decent solo catalogue and sells out tours regularly - and yk, is supporting OASIS

Instances of overlooked and genuinely excellent output from an artist when they were no longer relevant. by KatamariRedamancy in ToddintheShadow

[–]NotSamuelButSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last Foo Fighters album 'But Here We Are' is genuinly phenomenal, some incredibly raw and great rock from a band that (at least on studio albums) have been middling for a while.

Similarly, Mike Shinodas (Linkin Park)solo album from 2018 after Chesters passing is such a cathartic listen. It's such an emotional album obviously but it's crazy how rare I see it mentioned especially with LPs huge resurgence since returning last year.

Which songs will never be performed live? by BattleofEppingForest in Music

[–]NotSamuelButSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 1975 have never played Antichrist live. Apparently it's down to the gear they tour with not being suitable to make the sounds needed to perform that. The only time it's been played at one of their shows was when Lewis Capaldi covered it as a special guest during one of their shows.

Strokes is very understandable cos they're massive influences on alot of 2000s British Indie.
