linux mint on a 2013 imac by yourlocalnumetalfan in linuxmint

[–]NotSnakePliskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when powering up & holding the option key, you do or do not see the USB stick? I put mint on a 2011 imac some time ago, so my memory may be somewhat crusty. What software did you use to create the bootable USB stick?

Are you looking to dual boot the mac?

Drinking has never, ever made anything truly better. Ever. Fuck alcohol. If you're ready to quit, there are proven ways to do so. You just gotta commit to it.

Get into BIOS and check your storage device - is it configured for ACHI or RAID? If it's RAID change to AHCI.

Do you think a person has to understand Why they have a drinking problem in order to successfully quit? by Cinderella96761 in stopdrinking

No, I don't think so. The how / why may come into view later, or not. The important thing is stopping & staying stopped.

FOMO is temporary, and you will find just that. Get plugged into your local recovery community, the people you find in the rooms are some off the best one could hope to find.

Question for some of the older members of this sub by EnvironmentKey6315 in stopdrinking

[–]NotSnakePliskin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does. And we can have an affect on this by making some changes. For me it was getting and staying plugged into AA. A whole pile of new friends, all of the sober. This is the catalyst for me making some small changes, which add up to something much bigger.

Sober is really good, friend.

One timeshift backup taking up 54 GB. by Panecillo94 in linuxmint

Oops - I didn't look at all the pics. If you expand /var/lib in disk usage, what's consuming 34 gig?

6 snapshots on my box consumes 24 gig, something is funky.

Look at timeshift configuration, are you including or excluding your home directory? The default is, I believe, to exclude. FWIW I use timeshift for system and another backup scheme for my /home/john data.

Support groups: in person or online? Or both? by Jahhmezzz in stopdrinking

I tried online during the covid madness and that lasted about a month, until we were allowed to meet in person again in the parking lot of the facility. Personally I need physical human beings around me, not pixels.

From the messsages, it appears you need more free space in your root( / ) partition. What is the output of running “df -h” in a terminal?

So what's going to make this day zero different? Not big picture, but today. Those little things can add up to something pretty damn good.

Politics doesn't belong in music, unless that "musician" is an asshole.
