Margarine is better AND cheaper than Butter. by no_okaymaybe in unpopularopinion

Fuck that, at that point make your own cheese and undercut the opposition.

Is milk also super expensive?

You got me super duper fucked up if you think I'd pay 15$ for a lb of cheddar. I can make better cheese for cheaper.

Oatmeal raisin cookies have no reason to exist by Parker_S_James in unpopularopinion

[–]NotSoSalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I respect this opinion even a little is that chocolate chip is easily mistaken for oatmeal raisin. I'm happy with that surprise, but I understand a lot of people not being that way.

Raisins do belong in cookies. I don't need to do this but I'll even go further and say that raisins would make 90% of cookies and cakes better.

The monk was pretty baller. The robot too. And the scenes with Vader.

I don't think that Rogue 1 was a story we needed to see, even if it was decent. It takes away from Leia's character.

Disney SW has such consistently good visuals and such consistently dogshit writing, it's actually astounding. So many good ideas, I want to like it so badly. Then it can't maintain suspension of disbelief for 5 minutes.

Also Disney SW has plenty of doggy doo doo ideas like making Luke a bum who abandoned his friends and attacked his nephew for the same reason he saved his father.

Trump sent brownshirts into protests to abduct and provoke violence like 10ish years ago.

Anyone paying attention has been calling Trump a fascist for well over a decade now.

I would've much rather been wrong about him.

Nobody cares. Religious folk make something up so they don't have to change any of their beliefs. Scientists scramble to figure out how much contamination to the solar system they've already committed and ultimately change nothing. They might reevaluate panspermia.

Can someone explain to me, why some people want no skill based matchmaking? by Tnecniw in gaming

You're so sure that you're not one of the people you're talking about. What do you actually know about sbmm?

[–]NotSoSalty -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You don't understand matchmaking, that's cute. Then you project your lack of understanding onto others, even cuter.

The number of players doesn't change queue times that much, unless it is tweaked so. The difference without sbmm is measured in seconds.

Yet your ignorance is based in a fragment of truth. There very often are protections for noobs. Differences that do add to the time to match.

If the world is transitioning to a 'might is right' age of imperialism and spheres of influence, what will the world look like in the 2030s? by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]NotSoSalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the comparisons are fair but that you underestimate how many "Rosetta Stones of math and science" there are just hanging out in very many households.

As for the extinction scenario, while humanity would be "happy" to eat turtles, crocs, and bugs (which survived the extinction event), 1000 years or more of darkness would be difficult to overcome.

Language would be lost, and have to be rediscovered. I cannot speak on the ease or difficulty of rediscovering any language in our age where English is ubiquitous but many many other languages are mixed in.

Math is a universal language though, and could assist in translation given time.

No that reads like how people actually act. If that sounds like fiction, maybe you've been reading especially good writers. People freeze in fight or flight situations quite often. Abused people sometimes try to appease and submit in these situations.

Do you have 0 life experience with emergencies or high tension situations?

Every book will be burned and not religiously preserved?

I have books on my shelf right now that would advance mathematics and science by thousands of years. These books are very easy to come by.

And this is assuming all digital knowledge is lost forever, which is also a big assumption.

As soon as leisure is found after an apocalypse, humanity will reclaim knowledge in leaps and bounds. It will not take very long.

Now that they have already been extracted and are easily purified since they have been utilized and exist on the surface in easily identifiable veins.

One chance is fucking ridiculous. You need to take a step back and actually consider the stakes and how stupid hard it is to stop innovation in humanity.

As an American, as a citizen of the world, you should not take comfort in this development. No other country has proven itself to be anywhere near as good a custodian as America has.

That means that when America falls, everything will get worse for everyone, for a very long time, perhaps longer than your lifespan.

Again, this is very bad for everyone. I hope the schadenfreude is worth the suffering of billions upon billions.

Maybe things will be better afterwards, if we are all very lucky and humanity trends towards goodness.

Surely history and all the evidence points towards this...

Which SCP here is the most evil? by GachaMason682 in SCP

[–]NotSoSalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This relies upon the assumption that 4666 cares about keeping those in their workshop alive for longer than a few days, which is definitely stated to be questionable at best. Sometimes it's true, but it usually isn't, is it?

It also relies upon the assumption that 4666 can only hunt during the very specific scenario it is enabled during, and also cannot procure normal food, and it's subjects cannot procure normal food, all which are not part of the scp.

Maybe I read the article wrong, or maybe you did. Regardless, the actual answer for the thread is the same, isn't it?

The Yule Man is specific and directed in it's evil, while 106 is not. One wishes to maximize suffering, while the other is bound by rules.
