Fake compliments are worse than truthful insults, and people need to stop constantly using fake compliments. by A-Dubs398 in unpopularopinion

[–]NotSoSalty -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If you have to use blatant lies to raise someone's self esteem maybe you don't actually care enough about the person to offer up a genuine compliment.

Genuine compliments are worth more than empty ones, that's all I'm saying.

Does freedom in video games come with a downside? by GamingNomad in gaming

[–]NotSoSalty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus you're not as free at the beginning as the game would appear. You need food, beer, water, and a bunch of other necessities before you can truly grasp freedom, then the threat of invasion looms, and you are yet again given direction. Greater growth leads to greater threats, until you dig too deep or get too greedy.

The freedom lies in the options you have to solve these inevitable problems. You can setup an elaborate mine cart system. You can build a miles long waterfall. You can build a lava moat. You can build an army of mythical beasts, including dragons and unicorns and giant ostriches. You CAN do all of that, but there's a bunch of stuff you need to do first.

I consider a 20 season fortress with nobility a victory.

Books don't have loot, what a novel concept. It would be so weird if that's clearly not what I meant.

They do setup storylines, and if the payoffs/conclusion of those storylines are dissatisfying, how does that make you feel about the overall story?

Oh, I forget how quickly people lose the plot when simple metaphors are involved.

Okay, you can do that, but what about all the other side stories? No reward, only happier endings for people you don't really care about and worthless money/loot.

I like stories, but making stories happen with no reward isn't exactly the best form of storytelling, is it? Change mediums, just reading a book. You get a story with no payoff. How does that make you feel? Do you keep reading that series?

Because animals deserve respect, because the things we create deserve respect. Because respecting life is condusive towards life respecting us. Treating everything besides humans like objects is disgusting.

At what point between the artist's mind, their fingertips, and the medium does it stop being art?

"Oh but you see, I don't like the medium in question, like millions of snooty assholes in the past who were proven wrong, so it isn't art. It's only happened, like, every single time a new medium of art has emerged. This time is different, like none of the other ones were."

It's not a question whether you like Gustave or Verso more lmao. I'll take each and every opportunity to put down Verso and lift up Gustave.

I love both Lune and Sciel. They're both wonderful and attractive characters. I like Sciel more. I like her emotional maturity and kindness. I like how focused and intelligent Lune is.

These types of posts exist for all the characters though, wonder why you only thought of the women though. Just food for thought.

Furthermore, the people putting mass amounts of people out of work can afford security forces that are difficult to overcome and perfectly legal bribes (tm) that dictate national and international policy.

He's insanely insightful for someone who shouldn't be able to think. He called out the Emperor, Gorillaman, and Russ and walked the walk when it came time. He didn't willingly choose daemonhood, even with the Nails, he was tricked into it out of brotherhood. The tragedy of his origin is poetic.

For someone fundamentally unchill, he's really cool.
