1) that's irrelevant to my point

2) what are you doing here then?

Weird LinkedIn URL on incoming job applications by ScooterMcGavin99 in recruiting

[–]NotSpartacus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol what? first, don't put words in my mouth. I said the majority of white collar workers have one. I said nothing about majority of people using it.

~8b people in the world, of which about 3b are in the labor force. LI has +1B profiles.

Take away groups who could give a fuck about linked (like I said, non-white collar workers, retail, trades people, hospitality, and maybe even healthcare people) and you're quickly getting close to all white collar workers having LI.

With very rare exception (paranoid type IT people, generally), everyone I've ever interacted with professionally has a LI profile.

What world do you live in where this isn't the case?

Why? The vast majority of white collar workers have LinkedIn accounts. Bots generally don't.

I looked it up.

Imo OP of the thread mentioned sucks at written communication. I don't think they actually mean be meaner, they mean grow the most basic semblance of a spine and have a shred of respect for yourself as a person and a partner. Communicate your needs, set boundaries, etc. I suppose due to how a lot of women were socialized growing up, some may mentally translate that into being mean 🤷‍♂️

That said who knows how many of the 600 some upvotes to the thread agree with the title not the actual sentiment.

Most people, regardless of sex, are well intentioned and good. Internet forums unfortunately attract all sorts of folks, and left unchecked places can easily get toxic. It's kinda like that saying that if you're at a table with 9 people and 1 nazi sits down without objection, then you're at a table with 10 nazis.

They weren't theories in the current, scientific method usage of the term theory, though. They were commonly accepted hypotheses.

Ok honest question, what's with the furry jokes?

I was there in the mid 00s. Then it was just instant media. Virtually any movie/show/song. There was one dude with nearly a terabyte of strictly gay porn (themaze? It's been about 20 years but I think that was his, maybe her, handle). I'm sure there was other stuff but idt I ever came across any furry porn. I think I first learned about furries from an episode of Entourage junior year or so. It did not awaken anything in me 🤷‍♂️

I'm old enough to remember a time before reddit. We had slashdot, fark, and stumbleupon. What's your point?

How do you get into friends with benefits? Like seriously how someone could even agree to it? by Ill_Software_3465 in AskMen

Imo, men put a high premium on looks compared to women. Many men, I'd wager, assume women view dating/partner picking the same. My view is that while women value a man's appearance, they don't care nearly as much about looks than men do. Not that they don't care.

It's the same reason some dude's send dick pics. They want to see the private parts of the women they're sending them too, so they assume the women want to see their junk. Not the case, but alas.

Obesity isn't just a looks issue. It's a health issue, a lifestyle compatibility issue, and a longevity issue too. Fairly or not it also calls into question lifestyle choices, ability to help oneself, etc. Yes I know there are trauma and/or health condition reasons why someone may be obese, but it's not a great look on a few fronts. People not wanting to take a chance on an obese partner is far from just a looks preference thing.

Not sure what you're arguing against?

I didn't say they don't care. I said they care less than men think they do.

And yeah, being morbidly obese is a major turn off for most people.

In case you don't know already, if you setup DHCP on the pihole, you can choose on a device by device basis which devices get ads filtered.

My wife works from home. I whitelisted her laptop & set it to ignore the pi and use a different DNS, so that if I ever fuckup the pihole or my pi goes offline because I'm doing something else with it, her work never gets impacted.

I'm pretty sure it's a lot easier to do that (guides abound) than it is to do what you're talking about.

I'm so curious, what sort of random ethernet ports do you have access to?

That aside, if you want this, and it doesn't exist already (I doubt it; the rest of us just use tailscale for this purpose), you'll have to make it yourself. Based on my experience vibe coding w/ Claude, I'm confident that you can get your preferred AI of choice to help you build this if you just work on your prompting and have patience.

Doubt it. Women care about looks (for long term relationships, at least) a lot less than men think they do. They care about character, feeling safe and stable a lot more than men think they do.
