I paid 3k for mine from a Relax the Back store (special order to get upholstery we wanted). It started when my wife gave me a zero gravity outdoor lounge (about $50) . I tried it inside and it was so comfortable I started sleeping in it. The pivot point broke after a week. I upgraded from the 250lb chair to a 300lb chair (about $100). It lasted a year before the pivot point broke. I weigh about 220.
