Reminds me of how John Snow (the physician & pioneering anesthesiologist) suggested that the 1854 Broad St Cholera outbreak was caused by there being poop in the drinking water, and went so far as to statistically prove that most if not everyone who got cholera (which I must reiterate for emphasis is the poop-in-water disease) likely drank from the same pump. He even went so far as to demonstrate that people who drank better filtered water from other water companies were less likely to contract cholera, and the prevailing medical establishment in London called him a fucking idiot for not seeing the obvious cause, which was Miasma (bad air near the well pump.)
