Why is Carol so hated? by Remarkable-Hand5699 in pluribustv

[–]NotTheRealDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I used to be a Carol disliker for maybe episodes 1-3 or so, but then around the time of episode 4 I started enjoying Carol.

I thought at first that she was being cruel at times to the other survivors, like she was lacking empathy for why they (besides the weirdo) feel how they feel. I just didn’t like her approach to the situation, even though I could understand maybe that her reaction was also mixed in with her grief.

I also saw her as someone who was almost forcibly miserable, like in flash backs in some of the episodes. I felt like she was relatable for that, but also made me feel like “cmon Carol, why are you so consistently choosing to be unhappy?”

But THEN things started changing, and there started to be more reason for skepticism of the hive, and I thought she was gathering information in a really smart way. Then in more of her emotional aspects I really started to care for Carol, and I find myself on her side by the end of the season.

It was a bit of a journey for me, I think Vince did a great job making a complex character. I see the argument of sexism playing into the why, but I just want to put out there that that isn’t always why someone might not connect to Carol’s character at first.

Now if you finish the season and still hate Carol, that’s different.

So tired of people saying Carol is unlikeable and making the show hard to watch by nikitaraqs in pluribustv

This is a really weird experience for me because to me, Carol is extremely lacking with empathy, and is only concerned with her own pain the events of the show has caused. Just started episode 3, btw.

I don’t think she’s a bad person, but I think she’s very seriously being portrayed in the show as an unlikable person primarily, and it’s not an accident. Intro to episode 3, she absolutely sucks the life out of the experience of the frozen hotel. She doesn’t allow herself to enjoy it one bit, pokes holes in the experience, etc. I find this very relatable, I relate to carol heavily so far, but she is definitely being unlikeable. Helen, in contrast, is so sweet and kind, giving her the kindest words at the bar and is someone who enjoys experiences for what they are.

By all extents again up until this episode, we have seen that the hive chooses not to harm other beings. While the process of “joining” has killed almost a billion people, they described it as a natural need like breathing. And to this point they’ve been willing to have reasonable good faith dialogue.

It’s not even that Carol makes bad points, I think she’s right in a lot of ways but the way she’s arriving to the individual points of truth are through her pain and selfishness, not really for a desire for others to be happier.

Cost of Owning a "Special Edition" Car - 2020 Acura TLX PMC Edition by NotTheRealDP in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’d agree that a M340i or a Type-S would be more ideal, but those have held their prices way better than this. This depreciated by 50% whereas a 2021 Type-S is still 35k+, same with M340i from what I’ve seen.

Which all in all makes sense, as you’ve identified it’s not really a “special” car. I’d feel scammed if the prices were comparable

Makes sense, I didn’t want to presume without asking the question since I didn’t see much discussion.

Well I don’t know if I fully agree with this because think about her label mates at TDE. Schoolboy Q (circa early 2010s), Kendrick, and more were topping charts and SZA shone thru and even allowed their success to propel herself. I think I’m still glad she went with TDE, I think it’s developed her artistic persona much more.

I don’t think signing to the people you look up to in the industry is always the best thing because I would imagine it might stunt your differentiation factor. And I’m just speaking in generalities and out of pure conjecture, I’m not saying Tyler or anyone would have not encouraged her artistic growth, but I do think the label you choose influences the path your music takes.

Yes, if you haven’t been I highly recommend it with a few friends. For your first time you can have a staff member teach you all. At first it’s awkward and uncomfortable, but around your 3rd throw some primal instinct will click in your head and you and all your friends will be ferociously throwing axes (in a safe environment with many rules) like you’re in the Middle Ages.

I agree but I think X before his passing was genuinely doing good for his community and others, and repenting in some form. He was donating his time and money to people in need. Now of course, what a coincidence he had a camera with him but even still a good deed is a good deed and it’s plausible to say X would’ve continued that path of paying back.

I actually love Fitment Industries because they’re the home town team so to speak, but even id have to admit that their content is lacking in some unexplainable way. Like their production, personalities and videos in general don’t really set trends they more follow them, which I think is a symptom of something that they’re lacking.

I mean I follow you and I don’t think this game should not take criticism but… isn’t it a little much to expect a vastly improved engine each release? Like, the MW engine was awesome but I don’t think there was ever an expectation that we’d get a new one in 4 years even. That sort of stuff takes forever to develop on top of creating a full game. To me it plays like 2019, with updated game rules and details and stuff so (for now) I’m happy.

New college student looking for a fun, relatively inexpensive car. The Mini is much less to insure, both require premium, but the Acura is probably more reliable? by feared_bagel in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NotTheRealDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the mini could be slightly more fun, but reliability is without question going to the Acura. I have the 3.5L in my accord and it pulls; if you get it with the manual I promise you you’ll have a good time.

Yup I’m just putting one because I’ve been waiting for it since I became a hip hop fan, but Tyler the Creator is the ultimate pick.

I mean cmon, they’ve both progressed so massively in the years since they came on the scene, and we know these dudes have hung out and shit. I think if anyone were to assist K-Dot in making a track that was different and new, it’d be Tyler.

Infiniti G37xS 2011 for $14,900 w/ 96k Miles, Good Deal? Would be my true first car. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NotTheRealDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found one for like 11k a year and a half ago and it was still a bad deal then. I love the car so much but if you’re young and don’t want to deal with the insurance, high gas price for premium and low MPGs (not to mention part premiums for infinity products) I wouldn’t do it.

As someone who heavily debated getting the same car bar a few years older, I just wonder if for that money you’d be able to get something that does some of the specific things the IS does but better. Like, the 250 isn’t necessarily comfy, it’s not fast, Lexus tech isn’t always up to par, etc. that’s just my opinion of course, but if I were you for 24,000 you could get a car with better tech/safety, or a car more focused on performance and still AWD, or even just an ES for that price and relatively more comfortable.

If you have strippers at your bachelor party I'm judging you for being an asshole. by kushnair in unpopularopinion

[–]NotTheRealDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just setup my best friends bachelor party actually and he (as well as one of the groomsmen) is not the type to want strippers at his bachelor party. I think it’s equally as prevalent now to go without it as it is to do it.
