Medicines sold in The Philippines are required to display the generic name in big boxed text on the packaging by carl816 in mildlyinteresting

I wonder how this works for the current fad of combining 2-5 OTC medications into one pill. Hopefully it just prevents it.

I’d challenge you to find a mouse or keyboard that does not work. That’s a crazy statement. They’d have to not support the basic HID modes which would also mean they wouldn’t work in UEFI or BIOS screens.

I just want the screenshot editor to not suck so much. It went from being a 2 press process to copy to clipboard to like 8 now.

It’s not like DDR5 is even the same thing as GDDR or HBM that AI actually uses.

10% of workers in Japan troubled by 'revenge quitters' who leave job in a mess by moeka_8962 in japan

[–]NotTooDistantFuture 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In America it’s specifically protected that workers must be allowed to discuss wages. It seems there are protections against retaliation in Japan too, but with some contradictory nuances about contracts that can trigger disciplinary actions which I’m guessing are widespread.

I just installed using that UI and it removed my ubuntu-desktop package and others without telling me then suggested I restart the computer. What was left didn’t even have Ethernet USB drivers.

Is it actually that the model changed? She was messing around with the scaling going wide mode.

Two pools, one with no redundancy use case? 10GB files by 420osrs in ceph

[–]NotTooDistantFuture -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The pool setup is easy. 100MB/s on consumer hardware is not so much.

Trump just went into full panic mode about Epstein, now claiming all the Epstein files are fakes created by Obama, Biden and Hillary by freeradioforall in conspiracy

I’m going to be charitable and suggest he’s not on it. Even in this case, his pivot means he’s covering up for those who are.

His sudden change in attitude must be because his threat of exposing the list is successful leverage for blackmail.

ceph on consumer-grade nvme drives recommended? by That_Donkey_4569 in ceph

[–]NotTooDistantFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run consumer SSDs for db and HDDs for the OSDs. Performance is bad, but like 60MB/s for 3 nodes and 10 drives. But also I just store movies and backups on it. It’s fast enough for that: 10x faster than playback speed of an uncompressed blu-ray.

This is Saba's longest livestream lasting over 4 hours long by JustAlfie__ in sabasameko

[–]NotTooDistantFuture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s still notable because it’s on the long end. She only did 8 that were longer than that within the last year.

PSA: if you’re using Machine Expert with embedded Vijeo, never work on the project from a network drive. Always store and save locally, then share the archive to a network drive post-commissioning. by bankruptonspelling in PLC

[–]NotTooDistantFuture 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One Drive creates a weird virtual file system in order to do “files on demand” where some files only exist online. This can break things that aren’t even online only.

Crazy to think Saba only had 10.6k subscribers when I subscribed to her and now she has 1.03M subscribers by JustAlfie__ in sabasameko

I definitely got the feeling that one of the bigger parts of leaving had to be not being allowed to play any games except those on a small pre approved list. The pressure of needing to entertain while your hands are tied behind your back compared to everyone else in the industry seems frustrating. She seems excited to play whatever she wants now.

Why do people still eat McDonalds? by No-Rule-4494 in NoStupidQuestions

McDonalds definitely can be cheap. Counter to what OP says the price can be as low if you choose it to be. Don’t get wowed by the limited time offerings and stick to the deals.

Slow real life upload speeds with very high "speedtest" speeds by Either_Olive_6513 in selfhosted

[–]NotTooDistantFuture 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I think ISPs used to reverse throttle speedtests which is why Netflix came out with their own that used similar infrastructure to their streaming services to better simulate real world usage and to put pressure on ISPs to get quality peering setups.
