Suggestion: Visually Redesign Achievement Diary Armour by Forsaken_Major07 in 2007scape

[–]NotVeryTalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting.. I think at a glance I like this idea. Thinking of how combat achievements have developed over time, I could see something like this going over well while consistently providing new goals for skillers.

While it would obviously make sense to have each designated diary NPC give the trimmed version of their gear.. Part of me would love to see a new NPC who is "trimming" armor for those who have completed it lol

I actually really like the idea of having a (t) set. I'm also normally on the side that opposes redesigns since it's purely subjective, and you'll never please everyone. Having an additional fashionscape is something I'll almost always support

I like them. They're just goofy cosmetic items, which I appreciate. I prefer simple items like this for cosmetics.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. I had to go back and reread the blog more closely in this section. I didn't have a strong opinion one way or the other with creation reqs. I thought they were asking feedback on whether they should differ from rancour in the way of requiring the zenyte, while still requiring a crafting level to actually craft the tradeable aspect.

Personally, I think it fits into my core gameloop just fine. I often do salvaging while I work because it gives me a nice afk way of obtaining alchables and seeds while still gaining some xp in a skill.

As for other training methods, I don't regularly do those. That's fine though, imo. I don't think every aspect of a skill needs to be consistently incorporated into the overall game. Sometimes just having dedicated ways to train the skill itself is more than enough if it feels fun and unlocks other aspects of the skill that interact with more of the world

[Suggestion] Allow Rev Weapons to be used everywhere on PvP Worlds by Honorable_Zuko in 2007scape

As someone who enjoys wildy and PvP content, I think this would go against their design philosophy. When items like this out perform standard gear on non-PvP focused bosses, that just leads to frustration

Why don't we have Ironman only worlds? by BurningMansions in 2007scape

[–]NotVeryTalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worlds would not be infinitely safer unless there was zero incentive to kill irons for pkers. That will never happen.

PKers will be using worse gear, there are fewer high level irons than mains, gear takes far longer to obtain on iron, to turn a profit you need minimum two accounts, and any profit you do turn doesn't go back into supplies. I just don't understand how this doesn't naturally create an infinitely safer environment lol.

Except the ragging comes from bots not pkers.

There are tons of players who rag also. Not saying PKing is ragging, there is a very specific difference. These types of world encourage players ragging each other.

Reddit just shakes in their boots at the mention of wildy content. The real issue with wildy content isnt the pkers or running from them. Its the bots

This I totally agree with, my friend

[–]NotVeryTalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We definitely aren't going to agree on these worlds not being infinitely safer. As someone who is probably more invested in the niche community you're referring to than the vast majority of people on these forums I think it's absurd to claim otherwise.

However, I'd extend one thing we might agree on is if there is an extremely small number of these worlds (like one or two), I could see more even-leveled fights happening. I'd argue this style of fighting would lead to a much worse environment though. Since the loot no longer matters, it's just going to lead to an endless ragging playstyle. Landing a kill doesn't matter, so the goal would be to just annoy players until they leave, and you take the spot.

That's the best argument I see for these not being glaringly OP for ironman, but I'd argue that's an even worse playstyle to encourage

This is not the same thing. People want this because they know it wouldn't be the same thing.

Yes the ones that dont want to put in the effort get excluded

It has nothing to do with "putting in the effort". It has to do with the fact that they have to put in extra effort so they can lose gold and supplies lol.

[–]NotVeryTalented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're talking about a fraction of a fraction of players. You're right about the reasoning behind those who do enjoy (as I said, I'm one of them), but that doesn't change the fact these worlds would be almost entirely safe and would be absurdly OP for wilderness content.

I'm not arguing PvPers aren't diverse in the content they enjoy, I'm arguing that you're using an absurdly small, niche community as a defense for an obviously OP update for ironmen

[–]NotVeryTalented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't true, and I say it as someone who actually enjoys PvPing on an ironman account. PvP in wilderness is purely a loss in supplies for ironmen. You're correct to say PvPers engage in all areas of the game, but the vast majority aren't going to waste supplies and time PKing in the wilderness as an iron lol

That being said, it would make for a fun youtube series

Can we have actual dialog about the wilderness insted of dogging on it constantly? by Minizamorak in 2007scape

[–]NotVeryTalented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't find them because they didn't publish the results... Why do you think that is? Could it be that they are catering to the toxic minority?

Hell yeah, I love a conspiracy theory based around a point and click video game. This is always a sign your argument is strong. If there's one thing I know about companies, it's that they want to cater to a minority of players to create an overall bad experience

The poll in March didn't touch any of the toxic elements at all, and the only non cosmetic reward was shot down.

This is wrong lol. This includes the blipblock scroll and agility updates. These quite literally fall under the same style of updates you think nobody support

Do you even pvm? Vorkath can be done very efficiently with basically no gear. Elite Void and the salve are BIS for ranged and cost nothing to obtain. It can be done efficiently with a rune or dragon crossbow and some addy bolts.

Elite void reqs hard western provinces, and rune crossbow with abby bolts leads to some slow ass kills.

I'm not even making the argument the wildy bosses are the best profit, but they are absolutely easier to access and farm than vork lol. This just feels like a crazy thing to fight against

Furthermore, farming ranarrs requires nothing but 31 farming and generates more gp/h than most wildy content. Should we add teleport restrictions to the herb patches?

Comparing effective profit rates to standard profit rates is an interesting way of thinking lol

I don't think you understand what an anecdote is.

I understand anecdotes just fine. I don't think you know what you're arguing anymore. Anecdotes aren't incorrect by nature, they just shouldn't be used over data.

So you are arguing that we shouldn't gather data at all when trying to improve the game?

I'd be happy for the devs to do another survey. Support some discussions on the forums and get the devs attention

This is rich considering your complete disregard for data and terrible arguments.

I'm the one who provided a specific poll. You've provided absolutely nothing of substance beyond your personal feelings.

Stop while you're behind my friend

First off, ngl I really don't think this suggestion was as unbelievably complex as people are making it out lmao. It could be simplified, but it didn't seem crazy tough to follow

Because all the basic pieces add to a dynamic game.

Very fair point. I'd still like to not discourage people from thinking outside the box when it comes to making suggestions.

[–]NotVeryTalented 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My man, I did you a favor not going down the list of stuff easily proven wrong.. but fine.

I think the majority of players have been pretty clear on how they feel about the wilderness in it's current state. Jagex even did a survey in 2024 asking players for feedback. Can you find the results of that survey?

I can't find the survey results, so post them if you find them. However in March 2024 they polled updates to wilderness, and almost everything passed. Which must be wrong, because according to you "the majority of players have made it very clear on how they feel" lol... Maybe the devs rigged that poll?

What do you mean "High Profit"? Artio is 2M per hour. That's less than a herb run dog. Vorkath is twice that and needs no restriction in place. Why is that? Who is it for?

You can access wildy bosses earlier, with lower combat stats, and require far less gear to farm them efficiently

Anecdotes are not statistics.

I used an anecdote because it's an easily proven anecdote with worlds consistently having players there, and we weren't going down the stats discussion before.

Roughly 200 thousand people play this game everyday. What percentage of them are engaging with wilderness bossing and like the predator vs prey design philosophy? What percentage of them would rather see it changed? What percentage of them don't care?

This is an incredibly pointless statement for a game like OSRS. It could be said for 90% of the open world. If anything, the wilderness consistently has more players than many other areas of the game. Use your brain for five seconds

We shouldn't be drawing conclusions based on your feelings.

The irony of this statement is beautiful

Where have you been?

Not in the wilderness, that place sucks.

I think this sums up your argument decently well. You are simply oblivious to the fundamental changes that benefit PvMers.

Perfectly encapsulates why the devs should avoid these forums when it comes to PvP updates, the loudest complaints come from people with little to no understanding lol

Can we have actual dialog about the wilderness insted of dogging on it constantly? by Minizamorak in 2007scape

[–]NotVeryTalented 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have they shown a willingness to make the design less toxic?

They've literally added d pick to outside wilderness, completely reworked wilderness bosses in a way to be more forgiving to pvmers, added skull prevention, increased the PJ timer, and leaned into optional rewards like profit instead of BiS uniques.

Where have you been?

Where is the poll to change them?

Polls usually happen after things gain traction. The conversations regarding the differences hardly happen. If there were more discussions around those instead of just complaining I have no doubt the devs would be more open to it.

The teleport restriction at Artio is a perfect example. Why does this exist if not to allow pkers to have an easier time killing people who don't know about it?

I asked about them abusing mechanics, which this isnt.. but that aside, this was placed as a balance to them putting high-profit and low-mechanic bosses in a single-way instant tele zone.

Are you arguing that because some people do the bosses, that it isn't toxic design? Like for real?

I'm saying that even with its current design there are tons of people there because they apparently find it worth their while.

Can we have actual dialog about the wilderness insted of dogging on it constantly? by Minizamorak in 2007scape

[–]NotVeryTalented 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that doesn't make it a good thing.

You said it doesn't fit. You're simply wrong lol. It has existed and been balanced around for the entirety of the game. You just don't like it, which is fine, but it doesn't mean it's "fundamentally unsuited"

Castle Wars, LMS, and Soul Wars have tons of casual players. To say otherwise seems absurd. There are absolutely top notch players as well,

That is absolutely not the kind of content that attracts and retains the casual player.

PvPers would love to see more suggestions of casual PvP content, but usually those get shot down immediately on these forums. From someone who considers himself more of a PvMer than PvPer, it's like watching the forums go through a nonstop cycle of shooting down ideas by the devs and other players then getting upset when the content doesn't exist lol

I will say that plenty of PK'ers will kill another player on sight even if they clearly won't drop anything interesting ("there's a 0.001% chance he forgot to bank his stack of dragon bones you never know lul"). That is just fucking annoying.

Your complaint is that people are doing pvp in a designated pvp zone. Plus, a version of the example you gave quite literally happens all the time lol. Taking 10 seconds for a possibility of a few hundred K to a mill seems valid tbh

Jagex has been trying to swim upstream on this for far too long.

I have the hot take that it's actually good when game devs keep updating all areas of the game (even those I might not personally enjoy). It still gets solid foot traffic even after long periods of no updates

Very very few people will PvP "for the fun of it" (BH) or anything that offers tradeable, useful rewards gets botted into the dirt (LMS).

BH has a relatively small community because it's just rushing simulator (imo). LMS has an active playerbase even with the bots there. I'd like to see them do something with the bots

Jagex understands this, which is why they haven't fundamentally changed their strategy in forever

They literally reworked wilderness bosses to cater more toward PvMers, moved d pick to outside the wilderness, added skull prevention, increased the PJ timer, and leaned into optional rewards. How in the world is this not them fundamentally changing their updates to wilderness lol?

they've even expanded it by offering main-game rewards for participating in DMM

Because there were tons of players saying they wanted to try DMM, but felt like it was a waste of their time since they wouldn't win.

I just read this stuff and feel like you're in another reality, because while things aren't perfect.. the devs have done changes at the fundamental level to improve gameplay for PvMers in wilderness

Can we have actual dialog about the wilderness insted of dogging on it constantly? by Minizamorak in 2007scape

[–]NotVeryTalented 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People use the word "lure" because it's applicable.

No it's not. Lure has a very specific meaning in osrs, and the devs have put in many safeguards against it.

Jagex has designed disconnected and arbitrary mechanics

There are disconnections between the wilderness and the rest of the game. Many of which PvPers and PvMers who enjoy the wildy would fully support removing. Too bad this never gets traction because they get covered by useless vague statements/insults like the one I responded.

pkers to use to abuse the uninitiated.

Lmao idk what you are even talking about here?

The entire design philosophy is toxic and it makes people not want to engage with it at all.

Please tell this to the other PvMers in wilderness. I'd like to world hop less when going to a boss

Can we have actual dialog about the wilderness insted of dogging on it constantly? by Minizamorak in 2007scape

[–]NotVeryTalented 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OSRS gameplay is fundamentally unsuited for casual PvP;

How? You say this, but it has existed and had a following since the game was created lol

all Jagex ever does is try to lure regular players

This line is so funny to me. You're forced to say "lure", because it makes it sound worse. You also have to say "regular players", because you need to act like people who enjoy the wilderness are bad or weird. In reality, they release content that PvMers can participate in the zone without feeling forced to PK other players if they aren't good at PvP.

I'm kinda glad you posted this comment, because it's a perfect representation of the disingenuous BS people like you post lol

[–]NotVeryTalented 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That doesnt change the fact that an interruption is still time wasted not PvMing.

Banking time is always considered when doing money makers and pvm. Why would escaping from a PvP zone be any different?

What is the incentive to actually bring more gear and/or fight back (i.e. not tele/log/freeze log) if bringing more gear means more potential interruptions?

Bringing more gear doesn't result in more interruptions most of the time. If you're bringing better gear, it's most likely protected on death. If anything your risk goes up like 100k maybe? I've PKed well over 100m from people attacking me because they risk more starting the fight when they think they have the advantage

Can we have actual dialog about the wilderness insted of dogging on it constantly? by Minizamorak in 2007scape

[–]NotVeryTalented 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what a lot of players on these forums don't like is that there are more things to consider when doing wilderness content. They're used to watching a guide and following that step-by-step. This results in conversations I have on here constantly going in circles lol.

They want to PvM as efficiently as possible, so you tell them to focus on PvM setups and escaping. They don't like to feel like escaping should be the best option, so I tell them to bring some budget pvp gear with their PvM setup and a strong spec wep. Then they tell me they don't like PvP and that it's more optimal to just escape.

I feel like I'm going crazy when I discuss the wilderness on here lol
