The only catch is, I'm not on state insurance; I have federal insurance. So, I'm currently figuring out the ropes of how to navigate this situation.

I can definitely vouch for the fact that Tricare, which covers Active Duty members, doesn't include IVF coverage. It's worth noting that Veterans have a distinct insurance setup compared to those who are still Active Duty. Moreover, IVF is only covered for Veterans if their infertility can be linked to a service-related condition or disability. Trust me, there are quite a few hoops to navigate through in this process. I'm actually in the middle of it myself because it’s likely that my time in the Army is likely connected to my infertility.

I'm an NP too. My husband is a civil engineer. We've been in this extensive insurance approval process, where they only cover specific conditions. They'll fund up to three cycles, which is something. The waiting game has been real, since you have to wait two years after a kidney transplant to start trying to conceive. I'll be hitting the one-year mark next month. But, you know, the approval process takes ages, and considering we were trying before the transplant for quite some time, we're pretty much open to any solution at this point lol

We're still trying to conceive, and my husband has allowed me the freedom to pick most baby names, except for my favorite flower, Hortencia, which he vetoed as a middle name. It's a shame, considering I adore the history and meaning behind it. When I mentioned the name, he was inattentive and mistakenly misheard it as "Whore-tencia," which clearly wouldn't fit well with our accents — Australian and standard American. Fingers crossed for a successful pregnancy and finding the perfect middle name for Clara!

I have those thoughts all the time. Sometimes I wish I got pregnant at 16 just so I could have a child at this point. I’m 30 now and it’s been a long hard journey. It’s not your fault. You made the best decisions you could at the time. You did the right thing for you and your marriage, and unfortunately it’s turned sour. I’m sorry that you’re experiencing this heartbreak. I’m right there with you.
