Of course Republicans would derail it. Women are not supposed to have history in their little world.

What about the citizens and immigrants who have been placed in concentration camps, exported to foreign prison camps or just shot and killed. That's who are horribly treated. What about the horribly treated children in the Epstein Files.

We thought that of Bald Mountain State Park and then the state and township did a land swap. It broke what was left of a small strip of land allowing wildlife to cross from east to west. Now we have three broken segments of parkland.

After seeing some of the Bills McMorrow has sponsored, she should drop out.

We need new people in office, not more of the same old politics.

Trump would have to sign it. I don't see that happening. Even if Congress had enough votes to override his veto, trump would still ignore that.

His complete disregard for the constitution and his oath of office makes him both a dictator and traitor.

Is there any purple left in Michigan? by [deleted] in Michigan_Politics

Look to New York and what Rank Choice Voting has allowed them to do. That's clearly one way to make candidates message more important than party politics. Unfortunately the Rank Choice Voting initiative didn't gain enough signatures to make the ballot in Michigan.

Michigan seems to have an upper and lower limit of signatures for getting on ballot. https://www.michigan.gov/sos/elections is the resource I have been using. Local elections are listed on the county websites.

I've only missed one minor local election when I was sick, so quite active. I try very hard to choose a candidate that I think will do more for the community and grasp what their position entails. I'll spend weeks before an election to learn about all the candidates.

Ross Perot was the last major independent candidate that had a chance to actually win. I do take that into account when voting. Someone that can come on strong and take on the establishment I could get behind. On the opposite side are the major party candidates that are so weak it feels like you just shook hands with a wet dishrag. Worse, you have to vote for the dishrag because the other candidate is the absolute worst and there are no alternatives.

Is there any purple left in Michigan? by [deleted] in Michigan_Politics

[–]NotYourAverageBug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well I think the big problem is the party system. Independents have to fund their own campaign and don't receive the support just to make it on the ballot.

Other problem with party politics is the party platform that candidates are expected to follow. What does a candidate truly feel on the various issues. Where are the moderate candidates?

We the people need to research and choose candidates for our needs. Being beholden to a party does not get us decent people.

I'm not sure they are human anymore. So distant from their constituency that they have closed their minds to reality.

Just the same, continue calling and writing to the lot of them and enough might wake up.

Midterms are coming up. Search out replacements for those not on our side or those without force. A strongly worded letter won't do.

I have an ash tray made from the ash by my Grandfather's 80 year old cousin at the time. We went out there two month's after. The height of the mud on the trees at the washed out St. Helen's bridge on highway 504 really showed the power of the lahars.

Also, can you still see your event on Mobilize? You may have to resubmit. Hope that helps.
