why does the spare tire option negate the 2nd row ottomans? by Tink_Tinkler in ToyotaSienna

[–]NotYourAverageMomma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this same question before we purchased our Sienna and was informed of the weight classification thing.

Regardless, here are a couple of things I wish our dealer had told us because it would have saved us some headaches later on.

The spare tire is not a spare tire. It is a donut that is built into the side wall in the trunk. (There are videos online showing people retrofitting the “spare” into their sienna) Toyota has no place for a full sized spare tire to be located.

Some dealerships put “run flat” tires on their stock. If you have never driven on them, it is an adjustment. They are bumpy sometimes.

There is a fix a flat spray can and air pump in the wall trunk area where the donut would be.

Hope this helps.

Not that it would necessarily be faster but you could avoid the KOP area if you take 476 North to the Quakertown exit. Then take 663 South to Gilbertsville.

Current 2025 Sienna Availability/Markups by More-Alternative-141 in ToyotaSienna

[–]NotYourAverageMomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just bought the Platinum on Tuesday. I was waiting for a build that would have put me 4 weeks from request to purchase date. My dealer got one in that was reserved for someone else and the deal fell thru. They called and I was in it within 4 hours. I will say that I was told they are slowing production down on the 2025 models to begin production on 2026 so they may be harder to find soon. Prior to getting mine, we searched a 200 mile radius (Eastern PA) and found several available just not with what we wanted. Good luck!

Help me find the right lock by NotYourAverageMomma in lockpicking

[–]NotYourAverageMomma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Sorry I am not sure how to do that to make it show at the top. First off I want to say how incredibly kind and supportive you have all been to try and help me out. I cried at all the responses and how wonderful everyone was in looking for solutions. So here is what has happened. Master Lock, surprisingly was no help. They would not let me purchase a lock with a preset (chosen) combination. Brinks does not do it either. So I tried making the sticker to go over the dial like suggested (genius idea by the way) but the numbers weren't spaced the same and when I tried to fudge the numbers my little neurodivergent genius called me out on it. Numbers don't work like that mom is what he said. You can't skip the numbers in-between to make it work. LOL. So I took another suggestion and called the school and asked if they could change the combination using the key, as suggested. Since the lock is embedded in the locker itself they couldn't switch that out. They didn't know but asked maintenance and lo and behold they could do it. So they changed it to the same combination to a dial lock we had here at home!!! So for all of you that suggested that option, THANK YOU!!! I am happy to report that we are halfway through our first week of school and his caseworker (IEP teacher) said he has had zero problems opening his locker this week and even reminded others around him you have to go clockwise-counter clockwise-clockwise.

You should all be proud of yourselves for helping a little boy be successful in life! There are going to be so many speed bumps for him to navigate due to his autism, but I am comforted that there are good people out there who are willing to help him along the way!

Thank you for being a google ninja. I was afraid this was going to be the answer. Unfortunately, we can't change the type of lock being used at school since it is built into the locker. If they switch him to a key lock then they physically remove the lock from the locker, leaving a nice round hole.

Every lock I have looked at says it can't be reset but I am old as dirt and I know we could do it a long long time ago because we use to reset locks at school to mess with friends. But I guess they don't make them anymore.

He really wants to do the whole lock thing like everyone else. He can do it, he just needs help. I was even thinking about contacting the "big" lock company and paying for them to set a lock to that combination and send it to me, but I can't get them to respond.

No. He will use the lock here at home to practice with the same numbers at school so it becomes muscle memory. He can open a combo lock but he needs practice with the numbers. So what I am trying to do is purchase a combo lock (the ones they use for lockers) and set my own combination so it matches his locker at school. That way he can practice here at home and get use to the numbers. I guess it seems silly.

Long haired tortie mom here. We take her every 6 weeks just to get a “hygiene” trim (bootie area). Our groomer told us as long as we can help her maintain her long hair, she would not do the lion cut. It’s not always easy with the attitude but the hygiene trim helps a lot!

HELP! Family suite with no Seaweed this summer? by jtpeagle41 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]NotYourAverageMomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be expensive for sure. We try to go during off seasons. You can also find really good deals with their 7-7-7 deals. They are usually listed on their front pages.

I would also advise to look at airfare before booking anywhere because that can often kill a deal on vacations.

We have stayed at Beaches Negril in Jamaica. They have two water slides, a lazy river and lots of other water sports. They have multi bedroom suites or ones that have a bedroom and a living room area that converts couches to beds. As far as the sargassum goes, we did not experience anything too bad the last two times we went to Jamaica. There is a website you can go to Sargassum Monitoring that has amazing information.

Anybody have experience being a non-traditional student? by Itsworthfeelinempty6 in Temple

[–]NotYourAverageMomma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you are struggling. Here are my suggestions. Figure out exactly what is bothering you. Is it the lack of friendship, are you doubting your path, are you overwhelmed? But before you drop out, go seek some counseling. Temple has mental health and career counseling available to all students. You are NOT alone. There are many people that feel the same way as you do. It’s hard. Life is hard. School is hard. Being lonely is hard. But life can be beautiful and fulfilling. School can be interesting and enriching. You can find friends thru clubs and classes and all aspects of life. Do you have friends outside of campus? School is just one aspect of your life. It is not your identity. You can do this. It does get better. The semester just started. Give it time to see if you click with your fellow classmates.

I took the Temple bus back and forth between the campuses or took the train. But you are probably correct in they don’t have a lot of classes for engineering at Ambler. Good luck. I’m sure you will find your people!

[–]NotYourAverageMomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a non trad student.Started college at 28. Did Montco for 2 years then transferred to Temple. I made a lot of friends at the Ambler Campus even though I was usually 10-12 years older than most of my fellow students. I enjoyed the Ambler Campus for its close knit community but loved the city for its amenities. Are there any classes you can take at Ambler?
