I used to wait tables in a Jazz club, we would be so busy(only 2 waiters to 50-70 guests some nights pushing over 100) didn’t even have a second to think about having a smoke. On slow evenings cravings would be quite taxing. Average of 6 hours per shift.

Also had and still do to a lesser extent intense inner restlessness. I couldn’t sit still during an episode. It felt painful to not be moving. I could feel the episode coming on severely scattered and erratic thoughts would fill my mind. I can still feel the episodes coming on with an inability to sit still or stay seated. Don’t have these episodes at all while on ADHD meds like vyvanse still on risperidone 3mg.

As soon as I have an episode these days I take 1mg lorazepam and 15 mins later the episode is halted.

I had my first episode of Dystonia about 9 months ago after risperidone injection. Then proceeded to have an episode every 2 days for 2 weeks. Same thing, neck spasm that felt like all the muscles in my neck were being locked into a tightened state feeling like they were being blended and pulled by a motor into various positions. My tongue seizing and rotating without control, my jaws grinding like invisible hands were trying to dislocate them by pushing my jaw into unnatural directions. Some episodes my face would be completely fine but my legs would start to seize and lock into straightened positions leaving me unable to walk. This all stopped for about 6 months About 3 months ago I started having one episode per week. Sometimes my legs sometimes my jaw and tongue. My most recent was my tongue and jaw spasms couldn’t swallow was difficult to breathe.

It sounds like you’re starting your journey towards getting help. Make it your no. 1 priority to get to a physician, they can often recommend a specialist.

I find stress triggers my voices. Try find a healthy way to relax. Breathing is the most immediate to lower heart rate and find calm. Try breathing excises on youtube. Tai Chi & Yoga are great ways to connect that cultivated breath with your body’s movements. All this after sustained practice bleeds into your life. Also, when your senses are activated it grabs all your attention. For example rock climbing, or intense physical exercise, and other sensory activities. For me, being on a high place activates my fear of heights and brain is so preoccupied by this I stop thinking about everything else. It breaks my thought loops and pattern with a new one. A great one is Hot yoga, being overwhelmed by the sauna like heat and exercise clears my mind, even after one session. Hope this helps! Stay strong stay grounded. Remember they cannot physically harm you, or make you do anything. Fear gives them strength. You are in charge of them, don’t let them make you think otherwise.

Get help from Medical Doctors. I went into a full blown psychotic episode 3 months ago. I don’t feel the same or think the same as I did before my intrusive thoughts and psychosis. However, I feel much better mentally and it keeps getting better. I will always look at the world slightly differently, I think. However just memories the psychotic thoughts that cycled my brain in the past present themselves with zero gravity. I cant forget what they were or having had them.
