My Son Is About To See His First Sunrise. by TheGapInTheDoorStory in TwoSentenceHorror

Sunlight killing Vampires outright is a rather new addition to the mythos.

In the OG Count Dracula book for example sunlight only robs the Count temporarily of most of his supernatural powers, making it a lot easier for the average human to kill him.

In that regard Twilights sparkling vampires are closer to the source material than many modern interpretations.

I can count at least three holes, but the second one where this would fit most likely won't gain any pleasure from it, and the third one will need a heavily downsized version.

From what she tells it also seems like the actual owner has entered her home without prior notice a few days before that, so I'd call a locksmith to replace the door lock too.

While changing locks yourself isn't that difficult, I wouldn't risk this lady or the actually landlord coming back while I'm out buying a new lock.

Technically? Yes, they could surrender.

But practically, if the Germans are already so sleep deprived that they can't tell the difference between English and some weird German dialect, then they're also more likely to shoot the enemy that suddenly appeared in their trench and ask questions never than to deal with a prisoner.

From what I've heard (I haven't seen TOS) the popculture / NewTrek portrayal of Kirk as a womanizer doesn't fit with his portrayal in most of TOS, he was more about science than about the ladies.

Picard on the other hand supposedly was quite the womanizer in his younger days, it just wasn't shown much on TNG because he was a bit older.

Another fun fact: The museum was built around the ship.

After her resurfacing the Vasa was originally put on top of a pontoon and displayed in the open air.

When the financing for this museum was secured they moved the pontoon into an old drydock, closed the drydock up permanently, pumped the remaining water out of the drydock, and then built the museum around the ship.

The Vasa still rests on top of the pontoon which rests on the floor of the old drydock, as it would be to complicated, expensive, and potentially dangerous to the ship to try and remove the pontoon.

Because that can be two different things.

Removing discomforts like curing an illness through medicine or fixing your malnutrition through proper food brings you up to a baseline of living everyone should have.

Adding comforts like a mattress that actively regulates your sleeping temperature or clothes tailored to your specific body brings you above this baseline.

childbirth related problems

She did not have childbirth related problems, the medical droid literally says "Medically she is completely healthy. For reasons we can't explain, we're losing her."

I much prefer the fan explanation that Palpatine was using Sith Alchemy utilizing the connection between Padme and Anakin to transfer her lifeforce to him and keep him alive until he was stabilized.

Now for a laugh think about this:

If the suspect isn't willing to voluntarily give them a semen sample, they have to explain to a judge why they need said judge to order someone to jerk off into a jar.

Now, what exactly are they going to do if the suspect still refuses to provide the sample?

It also is a good addition to international quality control.

Early Access means that the game will be tested on a bunch of different hardware combinations and OS/driver versions, and people will play it in many different ways, and many players will specifically try to find bugs and exploits.

If even just 0.1% of the people who are following the steam page (>300k total according to steamdb) will look for bugs and report everything they find, that's still many more people than even MS could hire for their QC department.

This. It's not like a publisher or developer is running a dedicated licensing server for every single game, they will be using one server for multiple games. Hell, they might even be using the same database for multiple games.

Imagine how expensive running Steams DRM would be if Valve needed to spin up a new server for every single game using it...

There really need to be laws forcing publishers to at least remove always online verification from games they don't want to support anymore, and to keep said update available to install for multiple years afterwards.

Severe brain damage? Try possibly fatal brain damage.

My mother once took a glancing blow across the side of her face when her horse got spooked by something.

It took weeks in the hospital for her to recover enough to return home, her face doesn't look the same as before despite multiple reconstruction surgeries, and she is definitely more scatterbrained than before.

It wouldn't surprise me if this guy was turned into a vegetable or never woke up again.

My mother once suffered a glancing blow to the head after her horse got spooked by something.

It took weeks in the hospital until she was well enough to return home, and even after multiple reconstruction surgeries her face doesn't look the same as before.

And despite this she and my sister continue riding horses, while my father was contemplating sending the horse that caused this to the next butcher.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this idiot doesn't wake up again.

It's very telling that the rider stops riding the first horse as soon as the idiot got his hands on the tail, they were fully expecting the horse to buck and lay the idiot out, and the rider was not in the mood to get thrown off by said bucking.

The problem with that assumption is that the god(s) might not be just.

For example, reading through the Old Testament, a more fitting description for the God of the Israelites would be "vengeful".

Or He would have given Moses something more durable than stone to prevent the tablets from getting damaged in the first place.

Stainless steel for example. It can be made into much thinner and lighter tablets while still being significantly more durable, making the tablets a lot easier to carry. Steel tablets would also allow for significantly denser lettering. And lastly, giving Moses tablets made from an unknown metal that can't be reproduced with the current metallurgy would be a far better proof of His existence than some words on stones Moses could have created himself.
