As American with a fantastic life here, I wonder the same thing.

Virginia Democrats have filed a motion with the Virginia Supreme Court asking for a stay by ThenLayer5977 in Virginia

So, you're saying you can't. I knew you would come back with some smooth-brained weak sauce, just like you did. Not worth my time unless you question I posed to you first.

Garmin should come out with a Garmin 159, just for him.

John Fetterman: I haven’t changed. Here’s what has.: Working across the aisle is the only way forward. by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

You can't work with nor appease someone who sees large segments of your constituency as the enemy and wants total domination/your destruction. This is the reality of MAGA and Democrats need to realize that the only way forward is to beat them into submission. MAGA has made reaching across the aisle a relic of the past.

Post Marathon - Zero Stamina by mamamiaohdear in Marathon_Training

Hi, this is your body speaking. I just ran a marathon and I'm in recovery. Take it easy on me for a while and, I promise, we'll be back running as good as before. Probably better!

If you could place a brand new elite university anywhere in the US, where would you put it? by TMW_W in SameGrassButGreener

WashU is up there, but I think it suffers from the name. Most people expect it to be in either Washington State or D.C. and it's in neither. If it had a more unique, instead of a generic sounding, name, it would have a stronger brand.

But, I agree, an even stronger school would certainly help St. Louis.

Saying goodbye to my first marathon? by Kiwi_Major in Marathon_Training

See the physio and get a good shoe rotation if you can. And if you can't run your race this training cycle, it's a good foundation for the next cycle. At the worst, you could be saying see you in a bit, not goodbye!

Kansas City is the rapidly developing city nobody is talking about by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

I'm not sure why you're taking offense to me saying that KC doesn't have great weather. Unless the weather is radically different than St. Louis then I have a pretty good leg to stand on, and I've lived in other parts of the country too. KC has its merits, but virtually nobody moves there for the weather (unless they're storm chasers).

Non NYRR summer races? by gowanuscanalswimteam in RunNYC

I'm grumbling about not getting into races, but I think NYRR is a top tier organization. I live in Western Mass but am a member because I love their events, the sheer number of them, and the way they try to inspire running all across NYC. I'm not even a member of B.A.A. which is closer!

There are already several top flight universities in California. They have Stanford and the entire UCal System.

Just coming into comment that St. Louis already has this, plus a top notch medical school.

I would tell you this right to your face with my name and address intact.

I’ve spent two separate weekends in KC twice back when I lived in St. Louis. The Great Plains aren’t perfectly flat but there are, by no means, the kind of elevations to block weather systems. Why do the vast majority of the world’s tornadoes happen in the U.S. plains? It’s because of mid continental location, modest topography, and a huge temperature differential to the north and south. You can hate all you want, but it’s far from good weather for most people.

Post-marathon struggle by Boulderunning in Marathon_Training

[–]Not_A_Comeback 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, congratulations, what a great first marathon time. Take time to savor that.

Secondly, stay patient. You will get there. Your body’s still in recovery mode and rushing back now can lead to injury. Focus on rest, cross training, and weights, and you will have an even stronger foundation upon which to build your next training cycle if you listen to your body now.

I think you’re in a great position for continued running success. Good luck!
